2 2 The aim of Jordan National Strategy is to provide opportunities and to promote growth. One of Jordan priorities is human resources development, that is why Jordan focuses its investments on education. We have specifically focused on vocational training and technical skills to provide qualified workforce for employers and for the labor market. His Majesty King Abdullah II

5 4 Vocational Training Corporation 8 institutes North Region 3 Model Centers 25 institutes Middle Region 11 institutes South Region The VTC was established by law number (35) for 1976, it is currently working under law number (11) for 1985 which was amended in VTC works under another law called Organization of the Labor Market VTC is independent, it is run by a Board of Directors, Minister of Labor is the Chair. VTC DG is the Vice Chair. Basic levels of training include (craftsman, skilled, and semi-skilled), in addition to diploma degree that is issued in cooperation with Balqa Applied University (BAU). Upgrading courses for VTC staff are also included. VTC organizes the workforce by classifying work places. Upon request, VTC can design and implement training programs for 5 levels, semiskilled, skilled, craftsman, technician, and specialist).

12 11 Achievements in 2014 DACUM & Occupational Standards (OS) OS and DACUM for 3 VTC Levels were developed : Craftsman, Skilled and Semi-skilled Occupational standards were not developed before for plumbing Members were representing VTC, CAQA, JCCA and mainly plumbing practitioners

13 12 Achievements in 2014 Assessment Center An assessment center gives selectors a chance to see what candidates can do, rather than what candidates say they can do, in a variety of situations. Preparation of guidelines, methodology and tests with the support of German experts Train 8 VTC employees to Implement Assessment Center 3 rounds of Assessment center had been held to select trainers for ToT in Germany Development of a methodology for institutionalization an Assessment Center in VTC

15 14 Achievements in 2014 Labor Market Needs Analysis 135 Companies in the middle governorates Training needs Need for courses in using new technologies 41% Trainings in welding materials used in pipe connections, e.g cooper 14% Trainings on establishing networks and distributing them correctly by location 9% Reading engineering/geometric schemes 9% New technologies such as steam heating 9% Trainings on Public Safety and Work Ethics 9% Training on Polyethylene tubing (PE) 9% Trainings in manufacturing special mirrors for solar heaters 5% Trainings on unwinding and installing parts in the Heating and Plumbing field 5% CLC courses 5% The construction sector is considered to be the largest employer of heating, plumbing, ventilation and AC with being highest sector to grow in 2013

18 17 Ongoing Concept Development for virtual platform Improve the image and awareness of handicraft occupations Informs about labour market oriented vocational trainings, opportunities, training centres and courses of WEE Jobs will be provided by an online job board Platform is a collaboration between all stakeholders (VTC, JCCA, Universities and the private sector)
