2 Default Settings Protocol: Modbus RTU Comm Port: RS232 (J2) Baud Rate: 9600 Data Bits: Fixed at 8 Stop Bits: Fixed at 1 Parity: Fixed at None Flow Control: Fixed at None Modbus Address: 1 Minimum Scan Rate: 2000ms Changing the Settings In all likelihood it will be necessary to change the settings from the factory default settings to properly integrate a new charger into your SCADA Network. To change the above settings one must enter the "Customer Calibration" mode. This is accomplished by pressing the switch that activates Equalize and holding it in the "up" position for 5 seconds. When the control card enters the Customer Cal mode the display will show "CAL" for 2 seconds. During the time the display shows "CAL" release the switch. The purpose of the Customer Cal is to allow one to change settings in the field. The following setting changes are allowed in the following order: Low DC Current Alarm Threshold Low DC Current Alarm Reset Threshold Low Voltage 1 Alarm Voltage Threshold High Voltage Alarm Voltage Threshold Equalize Timer Mode Equalize Cycle Time High Voltage Shutdown Alarm Voltage Threshold Temperature Compensation Enable Modbus Address Modbus Baud Rate The control card when it enters the Customer Cal mode will display "CAL" for 2 seconds, then automatically move to display the first setting which will be the Low DC Current Alarm Threshold. While each setting is displayed, you have the option of changing it by pressing the "EQ" switch "UP" or "Down". "UP" is used to increase setting values and "DOWN" will decrease the settings. To advance to the next setting you must press the HVSD Reset Button. Setting the Modbus Address The following setting is used to set the Modbus Address: Modbus Address An Alternating display showing "Addr" for 1 second then the Modbus address for 1 second. The address is settable from 1 to 247. Please note the address may be set below the address of 1. When this occurs the display will show ALL. The ALL setting will cause the board to respond to all addresses and Page 2 of 6

3 configures the baud rate to This setting is not advised unless you modify your system and equip it with the optional communications card. To advance to the next setting you must press the HVSD Reset Button. The following Baud Rates are available: 1200, 4800, 9600 The following setting is used to set the Baud Rate: Setting the Modbus Baud Rate Modbus Baud Rate Each Baud Rate setting is displayed using an alternating "baud" followed by the baud rate "9600". To advance to the next setting you must press the HVSD Reset Button. RS232 Port Connection RS232 Connection Information RS232 communications are accomplished through J2. This is a dual row 10 pin connector. An adapter that converts this connection to a 9 PIN Male D is available from LaMarche. Your charger though is likely outfitted with an externally case mounted 9 pin D connector. The RS232 Port is a galvanically isolated interface. The RS232 interface is configured as DTE. The default settings are 9600 baud, 8 Bits, No Parity, 1 stop bit and no flow control. Connections to other DTE equipment like laptops and USB adapters will require a null-modem cable. RS485 Port Connection (s) RS485 Connection Information The RS485 (J14) port is a 3 position terminal strip located on the circuit card. The port is galvanically isolated. The RS485 interface is "two wire" thus no handshaking takes place. The default connection would be 9600 baud, 8 Bits, No Parity, 1 stop bit and no flow control. To enable RS485 communications you will need to remove the 205TS card from the front panel and reposition two jumpers. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REMOVE THE CARD WHILE A BATTERY IS CONNECTED OR POWER IS APPLIED TO THE CHARGER. With the card removed you will need to locate the following jumper pairs: JP66/JP67 and JP68/JP69. Reposition the jumper block(s) to JP67 and JP69. While you have the card removed you may also want to determine whether you will want the biasing and termination resistor jumpered into your network. To enable the biasing resistors reposition the jumpers to JP60 and JP64. The termination resistor is enabled by JP62.
