2 Examination results 2015/2016 St Mary s School, Cambridge continues to prove that girls can succeed at whatever they set out to do, with the 2015/2016 cohort demonstrating academic diversity by performing consistently highly in public examinations across a remarkably broad range of subjects. At GCSE level 87.5 percent of all students achieved three or more A* - A grades, with 60 percent of students boasting all A* - B grades. 90 percent of all GCSE examination papers taken were also awarded at A* - B grades. Our Sixth Form students results were equally celebrated, with half of papers awarded at A* - A grades (twice the national average), and three quarters at A* - B (compared to 52.9 percent nationally). The school s wide ability intake at all levels emphasises the girls hard work and remarkable achievements all the more. Students are encouraged and supported in pursuing the specific range of subjects that best suits their interests, talents, and ambition for the future, and whichever combination of subjects students choose, we work to instil in the girls a sense of personal endeavour, intellectual curiosity and preparation for life beyond school.

3 GCSE results Over a third of all GCSE examinations taken were awarded an A* grade, and over two thirds A* - A; increases of 8 percent and 4 percent respectively on the previous academic year, bucking the national trend that saw a dip in the number of grades awarded at the highest levels. 23 girls (almost a third of the year group) achieved straight A* - A grades, with five of those girls results consisting of a clean sweep of A* grades. The school is delighted with all students achievements, with 90 percent of papers awarded at A* - B, and almost all examinations being awarded a grade C or above (98 percent). Girls excelled in creative and humanities subjects, and sciences and languages alike: 89 percent of Physics, and 85 percent of both Chemistry and Biology grades, were awarded A* - A More than four fifths of students achieved A* - B grades in languages: Chinese (100 percent), Spanish (94 percent), German (86 percent), French (83 percent) and Latin (83 percent). 92 percent of grades in Art, Textiles and Music and 72 percent in Drama were A* - A Almost all students achieved A* - B in History (98 percent) and Geography (97 percent)

4 A Level results Sixth Form students accolades across 25 different subjects in 2015/2016 were also exceptional: 50 percent of papers were awarded A* - A grades (twice the national average), and 75 percent A* - B grades (compared to 52.9 percent nationally). The school celebrated individual students achievements as well as the wider picture, recognising that 27 percent of students achieved three or more A* - A grades, and half of students achieved all A* - B grades. Subject highlights 75 percent of Theology students achieved A* - A grades Two thirds of both Music and Drama students gained A* - A grades Destination highlights 50 percent of girls gained places at Russell Group universities, including Oxbridge and Imperial College London, where girls have gone to read subjects ranging from Religious Studies and Theology to Biomedical Sciences and Mathematics 64 percent of students achieved the grades required to attend their first choice university. Over half of students taking Mathematics and 67 percent of those taking Further Mathematics achieved A* - A grades 57 percent of students taking Biology celebrated A* - A grades 100 percent of students taking Chinese, Russian and Italian achieved a grade A* - A.
