1 Toys! The 2 nd and 3 rd grades Christmas Program this year is Toys! The program will be performed on Monday, December 15th, at 6:45 p.m. in the High School Auditorium. Along with the program s music, Toys! requires a cast of over 40 students, which will be selected from the 2 nd and 3 rd grades. If your child is interested, they may audition during this week and next Monday. Students should sign up for an audition time outside the Northside Music Room. Auditions will take place between 7:45-8:20 a.m. and during their lunch/recess time, in the Northside music room. Encourage your child to speak slowly, clearly, and with expression at the audition. He or she may audition for up to 3 characters. Not all students that audition will be given a part, depending on the number of students that audition. If your child eats breakfast at school, he or she should eat breakfast before coming to the morning audition. If your child is absent the day of the audition, please notify me by letting me know your child plans to audition so that he or she may come in the following morning. The cast will rehearse several days a week before school starting at 7:45 a.m. (if possible) and during the lunch/recess time between now and the program. If selected, your child will be expected to attend all rehearsals for which his or her character or scene is listed. Students should bring the included audition form to the audition filled out with their first and last name with the characters for which they are auditioning circled. Also in this packet are each character or group of characters and some of their lines. For the audition, your child should learn the lines for his or her first and second choices. Your child may look at music or a script before the audition here at school if he or she would like to become more familiar with the play. Please also sign the bottom portion if you will allow me to videotape your child s audition for me to later review during the final casting process. Please contact me if you have questions. Have a very wonderful Christmas night! Merry Christmas everybody! Santa (6)- Ho! Ho! Ho! You toys crack me up! No buts about it, the children will hear you and wake up! What will they think if they come downstairs and there are toys dancing all over the place? Rag Doll 1 (3 and dance/act in Toys Opening and Rag Doll Rock )- Get back in your box! That s a silly thing to say! You ve got the wrong happy holiday! Rag Doll 2 (2 dance/act in Toys Opening and Rag Doll Rock )- Sometime just after midnight and before twelve forty- five, Underneath the Christmas tree, the toys all come alive. Other toy soldiers (marching/singing) Left! Left! Left, right left! Marching! Why do we march all day? Maybe it s just the thing, the thing we do! Marching! Gotta keep marching on. Where are we marching to? It looks like none of us, none of us, none of us has a clue! Toy Soldier 1 (2 and march/sing in We re Alive )- Listen, Jack! What s wrong with you? You got it wrong again! Toy Soldier 2 (2 and march/sing in We re Alive )- It isn t Easter time, my friend. Now, let the show begin! Princess Dolls (dancing/singing) We are Princes Dolls and we try not to make a fuss. When we rescue the handsome Prince, we ll make him think he rescued us! Shh! Prince Doll (1) Never fear! I LL protect them! Puppets (dancing/singing) We re off our strings, so let s dance and sing! Now we might try almost anything! We may not always think we should. Well, that s cause our heads are made of wood! We re Alive Spoken Solo 1: Attention, everyone! Here come the Toy Soldiers! We re Alive Spoken Solo 1: Oh look! The Princess Dolls are here! We re Alive Spoken Solo 3: Hey, did somebody let those puppets off their strings? We re Alive Spoken Solo 4: Oh, no! Who let these monkeys out? We re Alive Spoken Solo 5: I don t know, but they found the cymbals and NOW look what s happened! Ballerina 1 (1 and dance)- Wow! This is getting kind of wild and it s almost Christmas Day! The children might wake up. What will their parents say? Ballerina 2 (1 and dance)- We should not be singing and marching, or dancing all around! Toys are supposed to be quiet! Now, nobody make a sound! Ballerina 3 (1 and dance)- Well, they might just remember that it s a magical time of year, when everyone smiles form ear to ear.

6 Cowboy (1)- I think we better stop, ya ll! Those monkeys are getting obnoxious. Everyone, keep it down. Let s all get back in our boxes! Cowgirl (1)- I m afraid it s too late. There is no turnin back. Everyone s so wide awake! Even the Teddy Bears are comin alive, and you know the noise they can make! Stuffed Animal 1 (1 and dance in Teddy Bear Tango )- Have you ever seen a Christmas toy dance- a fun fandango? Have you ever seen a Teddy Bear do the Teddy Bear Tango? Stuffed Animal 2 ((1 and dance in Teddy Bear Tango )- Well, look out, cause here they come! Stuffed Animal 3 (1 and dance in Teddy Bear Tango )- Quiet, everybody! It s Santa! Monkey 1 (1)- What a song! What a dance! Wow! You bears were great! Now it s time for all of you to go and hibernate! Monkey 2 (1)- Okay! Okay! It s getting pretty late, but the Rag Dolls want to do a song. And maybe a few of those American Girls would like to sing along. Transformer 1 (1)- (in a robotic speech) Well, a doll that sings and dances will make a lot of kids happy! So go ahead and do your song, but you better make it snappy! Transformer 2 (1)- (in a robotic speech) That s right! Santa will be here soon and he ll want us in our places. He ll want us acting like normal toys with silly, frozen faces! Transformer 3 (1)- (in a robotic speech) Come on dolls, step it up; time to walk the walk. Let s show these toys just how it s done and make this party rock! Teddy Bear 1 (2 and dance in Teddy Bear Tango )- We were singing and dancing and having so much fun! And all of a sudden, the clock struck one! Teddy Bear 2 (2 and dance in Teddy Bear Tango )- She said The clock struck one! Teddy Bear 3 (1 and dance in Teddy Bear Tango )- - Then, all of us toys started looking around. For all of a sudden, we heard this sound! The Clock (2)- The clock! Oh that s me! Blue Crayon (1)- Now it s time for all of us, the big and little toys, to run and hide and wait, for all the good little girls and boys! Red Crayon (1)- And when they open their presents right before their eyes, there we will be, each one of us, a magical surprise! Yellow Crayon (1)- Before we send you packing, as you re getting ready to leave, Remember that it s Christmas! This I a time we should all believe. Green Crayon (1)- Believe that things might happen, like Santa might arrive. And if you re good, you never know, your toys might come alive! Pink Crayon (1)- When you get home, you might just look and see what you can see. We hope that you will find some glee under your Christmas tree. Orange Crayon (1)- Go ahead, believe it or not, it s totally up to you. But there was glee under the Christmas tree, that much we know is true!
