2 SLD Series Single Phase Double Insulator Disconnector SLD Series double insulator disconnector (isolator) is designed to be used on overhead distribution systems in a totally exposed environment and can be used as mechanical switching device which provides an isolating distance in open position. The SLD Series design provides strength and stability of double insulator design, positive latching to prevent accidental opening due to faults, line vibration, wind or other environmental influences. The straight fixed contact blades ensure smooth low effort operation and reduce wear on contact plating. The hinge end moving blade ensures the moving contacts alignment and proper engagement. Key Features Designed and tested in accordance with AS Standard Rated Voltage 24 kv and 36 kv. Rated current: 630 and 800 A, Porcelain insulators up to 170 kv BIL Strength and stability of Double Insulator Design. Positive latching to prevent accidental opening due to faults, line vibration, wind or other environmental influences. Corrosion resistant hot-dip galvanized and Stainless steel 316 ferrous componentsdurable in harsh environment Silver plated copper contacts Bright tin plated terminal palms suitable for use with connectors, copper and aluminum compression lugs. Locally manufactured and supported Short Lead times Flexible mounting options Straight Fixed Contact Blade to ensure smooth low effort operation and reduce wear on contact plating. Hinge end moving blade alignment to ensure that moving contacts align and engages properly. Separate contact areas at hinge end to replace the hinge as the current carrying path. 3 Mounting Construction The SLD series disconnector is designed for Underslung and Vertical mounting. Insulators The standard porcelain insulators are light grey in colour and constructed from a single piece of glazed porcelain. Porcelain insulators provide high creepage with 150 kv and 170 kv BIL insulation level. Current Carrying Assembly Current carrying parts are manufactured from HD HC copper with 630 amp continuous rating. Moving contacts have lead in feature and straight parallel sides to ensure low effort operation, reduce plating wear and ensure contact alignment during closing operation. The hinge end is designed with separate contacts so that the current path is not through the joint and to provide blade alignment during the closing operation. Underslung Mounting Terminal Palms Terminal palms are bright tin plated to AS and are suitable for use with connectors, copper and aluminum compression lugs. Vertical Mounting SLD Series brochure 3
