Volume 5, Issue 20 PRINCIPAL NEWSLETTER January 23, 2017 Dear Jesus, Help me to show reverence to people who are in authority over me as I would to You. And help me to give all persons the honor they deserve as your unique creation. Dear Parents and Guardians, CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK, 2017 National Catholic Schools Week is January 29 th through February 4 th. We will kick off the beginning of that week by having an all- school mass on Sunday, January 29 th at 11:00 AM. We would like all students and families dressed in our red school color, and to sit together in the choir section of the church. An agenda of all of the special activities planned for the whole week will be sent home in our next newsletter. We will end our special celebration week on Friday, February 4 th,with Grandparents and Special Persons Day. On this day, school will be dismissed at 11:40 AM. Invitations for Grandparents/Special Persons Day have been sent home. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to interact with a special person in their life and show them our school. Please mark your calendars. I hope to meet all of the Grandparents and Special Persons in the lives of our students! See you then. SPRING CONFERENCES March seems like a long way off, however, it will be here before you know it. Spring conferences are just around the corner and we would like to offer more opportunities for parents to come to conferences so we have revised the schedule to accommodate that need. Please note these changes: March 29 th Full day Conferences from 4-8 PM March 30 th Half Day Conferences from 1-4 PM March 31 st No SCHOOL

2 LCAB MEETING Just a reminder to attend our monthly LCAB meeting which will be held tomorrow evening, Tuesday, January 24 th at 7 PM in the McGuire Room at the Church. Your ideas are always welcomed. Please help support our school by your attendance. VIRTUE OF THE MONTH: This month, we are learning about and practicing the virtue of respect. Students will focus on being respectful and what this virtue means speaking and acting according to one s own and others rights. status, and circumstance. At the end of this month, students will receive a card of St. Catherine of Alexndria. This newsletter has the January Family Calendar attached which has some suggestions for learning more about respect as a virtue, and also about the Scripture and saints who modeled this virtue. LADIES NIGHT OUT Mark your calendars for the 19 th Annual Ladies Night Out planned for Thursday, February 28 th, 2017 at Lake Doster Golf Club. Doors open and cash bar att 5:30 PM. ; Dinner and show start at 6:30 PM. If you have any questions, please contact Donna Henderson at REQUEST FROM THE ART TEACHER We would like to request that parents send in any Cool Whip, cottage cheese, sour cream, and/or yogurt plastic containers for art classes. Thanks in advance. ENROLLMENT We are accepting applications for the school year for all grades. If you know of someone who has preschool or elementary school-aged children and might be interested, please let them know. We would be happy to give them a tour and answer any questions. ( ) VOLUNTEERS All parents wishing to volunteer in our school, or chaperone on field trips, MUST complete a Protecting God s Children training session, AND complete an Authorization Form to have a criminal history check completed through ichat (Michigan State Police.) 3 VOLUNTEER DRIVERS IMPORTANT NOTICE! Just a reminder, that f you are interested in driving for field trips you must update/complete your driver information. Vehicle registrations, insurance, and driver s license must be current. You will need to complete a Driver Information Form and we will need to see a current drivers license to verify. Only those parents with current driver information on file will be allowed to drive for any upcoming field trips. If you would like a Driver Information Form, please call the school office and we will send a form home. HOLY FATHER S INTENTIONS Please remember the Holy Father s, Pope Francis intentions in prayer through the month of JANUARY. For 2017, the Holy Father will focus on only one intention for each month. 5 Catholic Schools Week Activities January 29 th February 4 th Sunday, January 29 th Monday, January 30 th Tuesday, January 31 st Wednesday, February 1 st Thursday, February 2 nd Friday, February 3 rd All School Mass 11:00 AM wear your red uniform shirt to mass Sports Day Support your favorite team by wearing a team shirt or sweatshirt Ugly Tie/Sweater Day Wear your ugly tie and/or sweater after mass. Pajama Day/Movie Day wear your favorite pajamas. If you wear slippers, they must have grippers on the bottoms. You may bring a small blanket, or pillow for the movie. Hat Day Bring your favorite hat to wear after mass. Grandparents/Special Persons Day Today is a uniform day so that we can look our best for the special people in our lives.
