3 Europe Market Review It is expected to continue to steadily grow in the coming year averaging at 3%. The European construction industry has maintained its growth as per our forecast in It is expected to continue to steadily grow in the coming year averaging at 3%. The construction industries of Central and Eastern Europe continue to grow with Poland, Hungary and Czech Republic increasing by 4% as investments are made in transportation and energy production. The railway construction market was set to top 1.5 billion in Poland, the strongest player, accounts for 60% of construction output in the region. In Western Europe, the German construction industry, the largest of all the European countries, is set to experience 1.2% steady growth. Ireland has made a significant economic recovery. Output of the Irish construction industry in 2015 was approximately 12.5 billion which represented an increase of 14% over the previous year. We expect the recovery in the industry to accelerate in 2016 and are predicting an output level of just over 15 billion, representing an annual increase of 21%. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for Southern Europe. Spain, Italy and Portugal are not expected to see growth in the construction sector in the short term, however are predicted to see an increase in the longer term. The residential sector in Europe has been and will continue to be influenced (depending on political strategy) by outside factors such as the influx of migrants coming into countries such as Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. Overall the trend is a positive one and the construction industry future looks bright in the short to medium term. 3 Europe
