7 Entertainment at the Fair The K9 Crew Trick Dog Show is the ultimate highenergy canine thrill show. They became a touring show with the purpose of providing good family entertainment. The show contains canine comedy, tricks and amazing high flying Frisbee routines. The K9 Crew has performed with the Indianapolis & Baltimore Symphony s, Americas Got Talent season 4 (first animal act to make the top twenty), Good Morning America, and Animal Planet. The K9 Crew is always busy training and building new show routines to dazzle and delight the audience. Each show is set to upbeat music, is high energy and will be an exciting experience each time you see them. They will have three shows a day every day during the fair! Thursday through Sunday during the fair we will have a chainsaw sculptor, Joe Stebbing Jr., here on the grounds doing four one hour show each day. During these shows you will be able to watch Joe at work taking pine logs and creating works of art. These statues will be up for auction on Sunday of fair at 4:30pm in Hansen Pavilion. All proceeds go to support the McHenry County Fair Association so they are able to continue family fun and educational events during future fairs and throughout the year. We hope to see you at the auction! Andy Martello won his first talent show here during our fair in the early 1980 s. He currently is a headliner in the comedy magic duo Spike and Hammer in Las Vegas. Andy is very talented in magic, juggling, plate spinning, fire eating, and has been seen on Last Comic Standing for his amazing comedy routines. Andy will be joining us for 3 shows daily every day of the 2016 fair. Make sure to stop by the 4-H food tent to see him on our entertainment stage! Barnyard Discoveries is a free adventure in the Bovine barn for children of all ages. This area has various activities and displays for everyone to learn about where their food comes from. There is also a chance to meet different baby barn yard animals and watch chicks hatch. Stop by to learn and have some fun! FULL DAY OF FUN AHEAD On Friday and Saturday during the fair we will have Pedal Pulls. At this event you will try to see how far you can pedal a tractor with increasing weight on the sled. All ages can participate. It is free to enter and everyone who enters will receive a coupon for a free ice cream cone from the Farm Bureau Food Stand in Building D and the chance to win their very own pedal tractor. The drawing for the pedal tractor will be on Saturday at the end of the pulls. Be sure to join us for the fun!
8 Entertainment at the Fair All week of the fair you can stop by three locations where you can spend some time coloring in Monster Murals. These 7 feet long murals are located in Conservation World, Barnyard Discoveries, and the Food Tent. It will be a great way for kids to stay active and have fun while parents can take a bit of a rest in a shaded area. Mother Daughter Look-alike Contest has become a great tradition of the McHenry County Fair. The contest will be held at on Thursday in the Food Tent s Entertainment Stage. Calling all mothers and daughters of all ages to come and compete against others from the county. Find out whose apple fell closest to the family tree. Conservation World is on its second year and is steadily growing. This year you will be able to see our new Green House and walk through both a butterfly garden and a natural prairie. The tent will still be set up with booths and activities for all ages to participate in. These booths are from various organizations, such as the 4-H Conservation Club, The McHenry County Defenders, McHenry County Conservation District, McHenry County Health Department, The Land Conservancy, and The Worm Guy. Be sure to stop by to learn about conservation and have some fun with the interactive activities. Fast Eddie and the Corvettes will be preforming in the food tent on Friday, Saturday and Sunday during the fair. It's back to the days of sock hops, hot rods and Golden Oldies. Enjoy the sounds of the 50's, 60's, and 70's including dowop vocals, rock n'roll, and impressions of your favorite artists. Fast Eddie and the Corvettes have performed coast to coast, with Rock n Roll Legends Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Rivers, Bill Haley's Comets and Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. Be there or be square, when Fast Eddie and the Corvettes cruise into town! Contestants in the 2015 Lip Sync Battles, including our 2015 Queen, Nora Brown! Lip Sync Battles Do you have a favorite song that you know all of the words to and have your own dance for? Do you preform it regularly into your hairbrush in your room? Now that you have the practice why not compete in our Lip Sync Battles? The battles will be held in the Food Tent s Entertainment Stage on Friday at 5:00pm. It will be run by K Squared DJ and is sponsored by McHenry County College. Check in will begin at 3:30pm, or skip the lines and pre-register by finding the registration form on our website under A Day at the Fair. We can t wait to see your moves!
9 Wednesday Night McHenry County Queen Pageant is a free event and begins at 6:00 pm in the Grandstands This is a competition to select our McHenry County Queen who will represent us all year round at county events and at the state competition. This year will be the first year we will have a princess competition as well. Come and support your town s representative in this 68 year tradition. Thursday Night Grandstand Entertainment at the Fair Family Night Concert is a $5 show in the Grandstands and begins at 7:30 pm Caroline Kole will be performing beginning at 7:30 pm. She is an up and coming country singer who has been featured on the Horizon on Highway 16 Sirius XM radio and has been an opening act for Reba in Las Vegas. The Willis Clan will follow beginning at 8:30pm and will perform for 90 minutes. They are a high energy family band of 12 siblings that sing both country and blue grass, play instruments and do Irish Dancing. Be sure to buy tickets early to save your seats! Sunday Afternoon and Evening Derby Icon presents two Demolition Derby shows at 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm. Each show is $5 for Grandstand seats and for Pit tickets ages 8-13 are $10, 14 and older are $20. This is a family fun show that is a McHenry County Fair tradition that everyone loves! Join in on one of the Demolition Derbies that will take place this year. Be sure to buy tickets early to save your seats! At the beginning of each show there is a Kid s Power Wheel Derby that anyone with a Power Wheel can enter. If you are interested in participating in the derby please visit Derby Icon s website for all information: Friday Night KTM Motocross race is a $5 Grandstand show and $10 Pit side show that begins at 6:00 pm Come watch some of the most talented riders in the area try to get the quickest time on the track! This high speed show is a must see for audiences of all ages! After the Motocross show we will have the band 7 th Heaven playing in the Entertainment Tent. This is a free event to enter and will begin around 9:00 pm. Saturday Late Morning-Evening Illini State Pullers will have two shows on Saturday at 10:30 am and at 5:00 pm. Each show will be a $5 Grandstand Show and $15 Pit side show. Come see modified tractors and trucks, stock trucks, and antique tractors at our annual tractor pulls. This year s street diesel truck shootout will be a total of 3 hooks for a combined total distance. The first two hooks will take place on Saturday, August 6 th at the McHenry County Fair starting at our late morning show and continuing into our evening show. The last hook will take place at the Boone County Fair on Thursday, August 11 th at their night show.
