Section 2 The Event 2.1: Individual World Championship Event Format Red Bull Crashed Ice events shall typically be held over a three-day period: Day 1 National Shootout Day Athletes Briefing, Training, and National Shootout Day 2 International Shootout Day plus Elimination Round Athletes Briefing, Training, International Shootout, and Elimination Round (heat format) Day 3 Finals Athletes Briefing, Training, and Finals (heat format) In the National and International Shootouts, two runs per athlete are timed and the fastest time counts. The top 32 athletes from the National Shootout and the athletes ranked 33rd to 64th in the International Shootout advance to the Elimination Round. The top 32 athletes from the International Shootout advance directly to the Saturday night Finals. Under certain circumstances a Red Bull Crashed Ice event may be compacted into two days or even one single day comprising training sessions, Shootout, and Finals. In this case, the race format may be changed and/or adapted : Shootout Procedure Timed runs are used to qualify athletes for the Elimination Round (heat format). The starting order for National Shootout runs shall be determined by draw before the first practice session. The starting order for International Shootout runs shall be determined by the athlete s position in the World Championship Ranking. International athletes proceed with their shootout run by reverse ranking order (from last to first rank on both runs). For the first event of the season, the order shall be based on the previous season's World Championship Ranking. Two formats are possible for timed qualifiers: a) One-Run Shootout All athletes take one timed run (under particular circumstances). b) Two-Run Shootout All athletes take two timed runs. The best time of these two runs determines the qualifier ranking (same start list for both runs). An athlete who Red Bull Crashed Ice Athletes Handbook Page 7 of 26

did not start (DNS), did not finish (DNF), or was disqualified (SDQ or DSQ) in Shootout Run One may nevertheless participate in Shootout Run Two. If two or more athletes have the same best time, the tie shall be broken according to the total time of their two shootout runs. If a rider has only one completed time on the clock, the second time will be considered as a no-time run (DNS, DNF, SDQ or DSQ) and the athlete will be ranked as the last of the riders with the same best time. If there is only one shootout run and two or more athletes have the same time, the athlete with the best position in the current World Championship Ranking shall be ranked first. If an athlete is not able to ride the course safely and at a certain speed, the Competition Committee shall have the right to forbid the athlete from starting. The top 32 athletes from the National Shootout advance to Friday night's Elimination Round. The top 32 athletes from the International Shootout automatically advance to Saturday night's Finals. Athletes ranked 33rd to 64th in the International Shootout advance to Friday night's Elimination Round : Ranking for the Elimination Round After both National and International Shootouts, two different result lists will be produced: the Mixed Shootout List and the Sorted Shootout List. Mixed Shootout List: Both shootout result lists are mixed together and sorted according to the best times. Sorted Shootout List: Pairs of International and National Shootout results will be made according to the fastest qualifying time. If the fastest qualifying time was made by a national athlete (compared to rank 33 from the International Shootout), the pairing will be as follows: 1st Nat, 33rd Int, 2nd Nat, 34th Int, 3rd Nat, 35th Int, 4th Nat, 36th Int, etc. The Sorted Shootout List shall be used for assigning competitors to the Final heats only. This guarantees that in the Elimination Round one heat will always consist of 2 national and 2 international athletes. The best ranked athlete from Mixed Shootout list has the first choice of start gate; sleeve colors correspond to that order. The relative ranking of riders eliminated in a heat is also derived from the Mixed Shootout list order. Competitors keep the same bib number for the entire season. Red Bull Crashed Ice Athletes Handbook Page 8 of 26

2.1.3: Competition / Elimination Round / Finals The Elimination Round is the first knockout round. 32 of 64 athletes advance in the Elimination Round. For the Finals, the top 32 from the International Shootout are mixed together with the 32 athletes who finished 1st or 2nd in their heat in the Elimination Round. The Finals shall be run in a single knockout format. The shootout results determine the pairings for the Elimination Round as follows (based on Sorted Shootout List Elimination Round number): Elimination Round Matrix Heat # Finals Matrix Top 2 athletes from Heat # Elimination Round from heat #1 from heat # from heat #2 from heat # from heat #3 from heat # from heat #4 from heat # from heat #5 from heat # from heat #6 from heat # from heat #7 from heat # from heat #8 from heat # from heat #9 from heat # from heat #10 from heat # from heat #11 from heat # from heat #12 from heat # from heat #13 from heat #13 Red Bull Crashed Ice Athletes Handbook Page 9 of 26

from heat #14 from heat # from heat #15 from heat # from heat #16 from heat #16 The Finals matrix shows which athletes shall compete in which heat. The order for choosing starting gates is based on the Mixed Shootout List ranking. The transponder of the athlete that crosses the finish line first determines the winner of the heat. The first and second athlete to cross the finish line advance to the next round. The athletes who finish the heat in third and fourth places shall be ranked according to the Mixed Shootout List in their respective Final Round. Starting Positions for Elimination Round and Finals Colors in each heat are determined according to the Mixed Shootout List: 1st ranked athlete Red 2nd ranked athlete Blue 3rd ranked athlete Yellow 4th ranked athlete Silver Choice of Starting Gate In every race type, Elimination Round, Finals, and Short Program, the choice of starting gate for each heat is based on the ranking of the Mixed Shootout List. The best-ranked athlete from the Mixed Shootout List chooses a gate first, the second best-ranked athlete next, and so on. Start Command Riders ready (pause) 5 seconds warning. During the next five seconds, the starting gate will open (randomly) to signal the start. Misconduct may result in disqualification by the Competition Committee. Under special circumstances, the Elimination Round can be cancelled. The Finals shall be run in a single knockout format. In this case, the shootout results determine the pairings for the Finals as follows (based on Mixed Shootout List): Short Program Matrix Heat # 1st Position 2nd Position 3rd Position 4th Position Red Bull Crashed Ice Athletes Handbook Page 10 of 26

: Final Ranking Athletes 1 to 4 are ranked according to their finishing place in the Final. All other athletes are ranked according to the round they were eliminated in (e.g. semi finals) and their ranking in the Mixed Shootout List among those who were eliminated in the same round. For example, all athletes eliminated in the semi finals shall be ranked from 5 to 8, according to their ranking in the Mixed Shootout List. All athletes eliminated in the quarter finals shall be ranked from 9 to 16, according to their ranking in the Mixed Shootout List, and so on. All athletes who are not qualified for the Finals are ranked according to their position in the Mixed Shootout List : DNS vs. Lucky Loser An athlete who does not start in the Elimination Round and the Round of 64 in which he was scheduled to start shall automatically be replaced by the best athlete available who did not qualify (the Lucky Loser). In the Elimination Round, if required, the National athlete ranked 33rd will replace the National athlete who Did Not Start (DNS) and the International athlete ranked 65th will replace the International athlete who DNS d. The National athlete who DNS d will be ranked 33rd in the National Shootout ranking. The International athlete who DNS d will be ranked 65th in the International Shootout ranking. In the Round of 64, if any athlete does not start, he will be replaced by the best ranked athlete up to this point. This means the 65th ranked athlete after the Elimination Round will be back in the competition. The athlete who DNS d will take the ranking spot of his replacement, the 65th spot in the Final event ranking. If, in the same round, two or more athletes do not start, the matrix will be filled with the best ranked athletes who did not qualify for the next round. The Final ranking will follow the explanation above. The best ranked athlete who DNS d will always be ranked as the best unqualified athlete. The second best ranked athlete who DNS d will be replaced by the second best athlete who did not qualify, and so on. Red Bull Crashed Ice Athletes Handbook Page 11 of 26

In the Elimination Round and the Round of 64, athletes who do not complete a round will be ranked as follows: DNF (did not finish) shall be ranked the highest, followed by SDQ (sport disqualification) and DSQ (intentional contact). From the Round of 32 until the last round, the Final, the ranking order shall be as follows: DNF/SDQ (sport disqualification) shall be ranked the highest, followed by DSQ (intentional contact) and DNS. Under special circumstances, the Competition Committee can cancel the Lucky Loser rule : World Championship Ranking Points shall be allocated for each World Championship event as follows: Pos. % Points Pos. % Points Pos. % Points Pos. % Points : Individual World Championship event Points obtained by all top 100 athletes shall be added to the World Championship Ranking tally after each event. An updated Ice Cross Downhill World Championship Ranking will be posted after each event on Red Bull Crashed Ice Athletes Handbook Page 12 of 26

2.2: Team Competition Event Format Red Bull Crashed Ice Team Competition shall typically be a one-day event: Friday Night Team Competition Athletes Briefing (before the Elimination Round), Qualifications, and Finals with top 16 teams. Each team shall provide 2 jersey designs, one with bright base color and one with dark base color, by the 1st of November All designs need to be sent to our Sports Coordinator, Oliver Deby, at oli@productionscircus.com. He will approve the submitted designs. In the case of rejection, the Sports Coordinator will provide the reasons and a list of adjustments that need to be made. Existing team jerseys bearing trademarked logos from hockey, football, American football, baseball, or any other team sport are not allowed. The design must be somehow unique to the team. The Competition Committee shall provide helmet number stickers (1, 2, 3) to members of all top 16 teams that qualified for the Team Competition. Numbers are assigned Red Bull Crashed Ice Athletes Handbook Page 13 of 26

according to the current Team Competition World Championship (at the first race, numbers will be assigned randomly). An athlete may only enter in one team per event. An athlete may be part of more than one team in a season. Company Team A Company Team is a licensed sponsored team. A Company Team may approach and sign up World Standing ranked athletes or rookies. Athletes may reject an offer. Amateur Team Any eligible free agent, who is part of the International Shootout or National Shootout, may organize his own team : Team Competition Qualifications At least 3 or all 4 members of the team are mandatory to start in the qualification run. Each team runs one after the other, in the reverse team ranking order. For the first event of the season (and for new teams at all other events), teams will start in a random order which will be provided by the Competition Committee. Riders choose their starting gates (one rider per gate). All gates open at the same time. The second team member to cross the finish line determines the team s ranking time. The 16 top-ranked teams advance to the Team Competition : Team Competition Event Format Knockout format: 3 athletes from Team A run against 3 athletes from Team B. The 1st-placed team (from the qualification run) competes against the 16th-placed team, the 2nd-placed team against the 15th-placed team, the 3rd-placed team against the 14thplaced team, and so on. Gate selection is done alternately by both teams. The team with the fastest qualification time (Team A) has the first pick. Any of the 3 team riders may choose any gate. The next gate is picked by the other team (Team B). Team A picks a third gate, and the remaining gate goes to Team B. All Team members need to line up at the chosen gates. Teams can shift one athlete per round. All start gates open at the same time. All 3 participants may complete each Team Competition run. The choice of participants must be made at the latest when the riders exit the staging area. Red Bull Crashed Ice Athletes Handbook Page 14 of 26

The DQ rules are valid at all times during the Team Competition. A DQ against one team member automatically leads to a DQ for the whole team. The ranking of teams eliminated in the Round of 16 and quarter finals is determined by their qualification times. Teams who do not qualify for the knockout rounds (beyond 16th place) are also ranked according to their qualification times. Team Competition Matrix Heat # 1st Position 2nd Position 3rd Position 4th Position The knockout rounds follow the standard elimination system: 8 heats for Round of 16; 4 heats for quarter finals; 2 heats for semi finals; 1 heat for 4th and 3rd place; 1 heat for 2nd and 1st place : Team Competition Prizes Each member of a team which finishes in the Top 4 shall receive prize money allocated as follows: 1st-place team 2,000 2nd-place team 1,500 3rd-place team 1,000 4th-place team 500 An athlete must take part in the qualification round to receive his prize money. The athlete who claims an official protest needs to fill out a waiver and will thereby accept the payment procedure. Only after the athlete has signed the waiver, is it an official protest. Video control will be used for all events if possible. The duties of the Video Controller are to observe the competitors passage on the course. Final decisions made by the Video Controller based on TV images are restricted to disqualifications and sanctions. The Video Controller is part of the Competition Committee : Payment Procedure The payment for each official protest must be made to the Sports Coordinator, Oliver Deby.
