2 Physical Therapy Department Mission Statement: The mission of the Department of Physical Therapy is multifaceted, supporting the overall mission and vision of UIC, an urban, comprehensive, public research university. The Department, like the University, strives to pursue excellence in education, research, and service.
3 DPT Program at UIC Our DPT program was ranked in the top 8% or 16 th of 211 accredited DPT/MPT programs across the country by US News & World Report (2012) Our program is in the top 3 of all programs that are housed in urban and public universities.

26 UIC DPT Clinical Education Ensure every student has exposure to a wide variety of patients/clients & settings Includes 38 weeks of full-time clinical experiences One 2 week & three 12 week internships A minimum of 8 weeks in acute, ambulatory/op, & rehabilitation settings 10 documented cases in each of four practice patterns (MS, NM, CP, Integumentary) 5-10 documented cases in 3 different lifespan categories (0-6, 7-17, & 70+ years
27 UIC DPT Clinical Education Incorporates part-time clinical experiences integrated throughout the curriculum First ½ day clinical experience in Fall of first semester We have a strong relationship with UIHHSS & other clinical sites in IL, throughout the US, and continuing to develop internationally.
28 UIC DPT Clinical Education Over 200 sites throughout the US Chicago, IL, Nationwide, and continuing to develop internationally Personal Transportation is required Students should expect to travel & plan for additional expenses Close contact & communication fostered with students & Clinical Instructors.
