11 Profile of the Founding Partner Our team is headed by Dr. Mohamed Karbal, an attorney licensed to practice law in New York, Dubai and Libya. Dr. Karbal has vast experience in both private and government sectors of the UAE. Concerning maritime law experience, Dr. Karbal is well versed in international shipping, maritime, and admiralty law, having earned an LL.M in Maritime Law from University College London (UCL). Dr. Karbal s experience encompasses international transactional legal work in South-east Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa. Dr. Karbal further has experience in London Maritime Arbitration. Due to Dr. Karbal s fluency in both English and Arabic, Dr. Karbal is capable of drafting exceptional legal work concurrently in both English and Arabic. Dr. Karbal is a registered Arbitrator at the Commercial Conciliation and arbitration center in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates and a registered arbitrator of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in London, England, U.K. Dr. Karbal received a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from University of Missouri-Columbia, Missouri, USA, a Master of Laws (LL.M) in Maritime Law from the University College London (UCL), a Master of Laws (LL.M) in International Law from Indiana University, Indiana, USA, and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the University of Benghazi, Libya. Dr. Karbal is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, London, UK. Dr. Karbal has also held the position of Associate Professor of various American and International Universities.
