1 ARTS AND CRAFTS INSTRUCTOR 1. At least 18 years old 2. Interest, knowledge, and skill in art and some crafts 3. Ability to teach children and youth how to do crafts 4. Prior experience teaching or leading art is preferred, but not required Responsible To: Summer Leadership Team To plan, organize, and administer a safe and meaningful program in arts and crafts where campers create memories and art to take home. 1. Develop and operate a meaningful program in crafts geared toward each various age group, as well as the interests, and abilities of the campers for each program time any time a group signs up for Arts and Crafts. 2. Coordinate the crafts program with other camp activities, plans, and themes. 3. Prepare a craft area to include displays to stimulate interest. 4. Prepare the craft hut daily for each program time. 5. Clean, organize, and maintain craft area after each program time and at the end of each day. 6. Keep inventory of supplies and request orders to the School Programs Coordinator. 7. To supervise and train the arts and crafts trainee. 8. To ensure that the arts and crafts first-aid kit is up to date and fully stocked each day. 9. At the end of each week, making sure that campers go home with their art work.

2 CRAFTS TRAINEE 1. Meets the general characteristics and expectations of all staff members. 2. Interest, knowledge, and skill in nature crafts and the ability to teach and motivate others. Responsible To: Program Leadership Team 1. To help organize and administer a safe and meaningful program in art/crafts. 2. To assist the Arts and Crafts Instructor in day to day activities. 1. Develop and operate a meaningful program in art/crafts geared to the various ages, interests, and abilities of the campers. 2. Coordinate the art/crafts program with other camp activities and plans. 3. Help prepare an Art Center & craft shop area to include displays to stimulate interest. 4. Assist in keeping a clean, organized, craft area and supplies.

3 OUTDOOR LIVING SKILLS INSTRUCTOR (OLS) The Outdoor Living Skills Program (OLS) is designed to develop within each participant a desire to maintain environmental quality. Participants learn to make responsible decisions while participating in activities such as fire building, outdoor cooking, tent camping, and hiking or sail tripping. OLS teaches participants environmental awareness, forges environmental ethics, and promotes environmental responsibility while learning skills to live comfortably in an outdoor environment. 1. Experience and/or training in OLS from one of the many organizations offering this program. That might be National Outdoor Leadership School, outward Bound, Leave No Trace, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Camp Fire USA, 4-H or many universities offer training programs. 2. Personal experience wilderness living or extended primitive camping. 3. Ability to train and teach staff, youth, and children. 1. To implement a five level program in Outdoor Living Skills for campers and staff beginning with campers as young as seven years old. 2. To provide training and demonstration for all summer staff in the precepts of the program. 3. To lead groups in the process as the program is implemented. To later provide support for counselors as they teach and model the program components. 4. To provide equipment, equipment care for all activities at Camp Don Lee that include areas of Outdoor Living Skills. 5. To focus on the areas of proper fire building, proper cooking skills over a fire or stove, effective tent and shelter use, and leave no trace camping ethic.

4 CHALLENGE COURSE LEAD FACILITOR: 1. Interest, skill and experience in leadership and facilitation of Low Ropes Challenge Course Activities. 2. Training or certification from a certifying group such as Project Adventure or from a University Training Program in facilitation and leadership of these activities. 3. At least 18 years old Responsible to: Program Leadership Team 1. To be an expert on the elements in the Don Lee Challenge course; how to lead and facilitate each one as well as how to modify for age and ability 2. To be able to lead field challenges including games and team building initiatives 3. To model and demonstrate excellent leadership and facilitation skills 4. To train all summer counselors to become excellent facilitators of field challenges as well as low elements on the challenge course a. To model by leading challenge course for groups, with constant explanation to counselors b. To give counselors direct feedback about how they lead challenges, and how they could modify or improve the challenge course experience c. To fill out skill verifications for any counselors that are ready to lead challenge course activities without the supervision of the Lead Facilitator 5. To implement all safety practices and regulations outlined in staff manual 6. To inspect challenge course daily and report maintenance needs and requests to Center Director. a. If an element is unsafe, to mark it appropriately so that campers and staff do not use it. 7. To provide direct leadership to a set number of groups each day 8. To maintain the equipment for field initiatives in the cabinets beside the fellowship hall daily 9. To bring excitement, enthusiasm, and purpose to the challenge course so that staff are inspired to use it all the time.

5 DRAMA SPECIALIST Creative expression through word, movement and character is a great gift to be shared and to be passed on to children and youth with the full joy of Life. We are looking for that person who can set free the hidden talents of others 1. Must be creative and passionate about using drama and the arts to instill confidence in campers. 2. Experience in planning and leading expressive activities with children/youth 3. Must be 18 years of age Responsible to: Program Leadership team To plan and lead 60 minute Drama classes and experiences safely and in accordance with Camp Don Lee s Drama policies outlined in the staff manual each period that groups sign up for the program each day. 1. To create and design a drama program that is appropriate for campers of all ages. 2. To lead an exciting and creative drama program for each group that signs up for that program area each day. 3. Implement activities that help bring groups of campers together. 4. Contribute resources and leadership to all camp activities including, but not limited to worship times 5. Serve as a member of the Summer Worship Leadership Team. 6. General upkeep of all Drama equipment and facilities including set up and clean up each day. 7. Ensure that the facility First Aid-Kit is up-to-date and fully stocked each day.

6 MUSIC SPECIALIST/WORSHIP MUSIC LEADER/BAND Musical expression draws the interest of anyone who is passing by; certainly it is not just words that tell the gospel story. We are looking for an exceptional telling of the story in music 1. Demonstrate a passion for music and showing campers how it can be used to not only worship God, but as a form of self expression. 2. Must be 18 years of age Responsible to: Program Leadership Team 1. Help plan and implement daily music periods with group of 16 campers 2. Help with and/or lead worship music for all camp gatherings. 3. Find creative ways to make music and get campers involved. 4. Create a community band or provide venue for music talents to present themselves in the camp community. 5. Serve as a member of the summer Worship Leadership Team. MEDIA SPECIALIST 1. Must be comfortable and competent working in Microsoft Office, and have experience, or be able to learn how to work with web pages. 2. Must be at least 18 years of age. 3. Education or experience in Communications, Photography, and/or web design preferred. 4. Media communications experience a major plus Responsible to: Program Leadership Staff 1. Take over 150 pictures and upload them on a daily basis. 2. Take and organize pictures for upcoming promotional pieces. 3. Create an online daily newsletter for camper families 4. Create in house news sheet for the staff community 5. Create a video/or PowerPoint production to use with families on Saturday morning and one to use on Sunday afternoons. 6. The help coordinator all media use for all camp functions, i.e. LCD projection, music, presentation for special events 7. To arrange all group photographs and send to be developed. To promote their sale and delivery. 8. Serve as a member of the Summer Worship Leadership Team

7 Spiritual Life Specialist Experience working with Children and Youth in a ministry setting An interest and desire in helping children, youth, and staff develop their faith while at Camp Don Lee At least 18 years of age Responsible to: Program Leadership Team To coordinate with members of the Don Lee community, including but not limited to the Worship Team to facilitate meaningful worship experiences for the campers and staff during the summer To build a faith community among the campers and staff to accomplish the mission of Camp Don Lee. Specific Responsibilities will be determined with Center Director and Faith Formation Coordinator but may include: Leadership of the Worship Team to plan and facilitate weekly staff worship times which include but are not limited to Saturday and Sunday Staff Meetings To assist staff in spiritual development throughout the summer Leadership of the Worship Team to plan and lead all camp worship experiences, both formal and informal. To develop age appropriate lesson plans and lead faith formation program area for small groups when they sign up during the week or to assist counselors in leading faith formation programming To plan and outline themed nightly vesper ideas for staff and serve as a resource for staff leading vespers To assist Tweeker, Mariner, and LIT groups as they plan and lead all-camp camperled worship experiences To lead morning watch devotional each week To be available to staff as a resource person for any of the above as well as personal spiritual development

8 ARCHERY INSTRUCTOR 1. Must be 18 years of age. 2. Prior experience leading or teaching archery to children, youth, and/or adults. 3. A Level 1 or Level 2 Archery certification is preferred, but not required. If candidate doesn t have certification, must be willing to get certification before summer starts. Responsible to: Program Leadership Team To plan and lead 60 minute archery programs safely and in accordance with Camp Don Lee s Archery policies outlined in the staff manual each period that groups sign up for the program each day. 1. To lead each Archery Program time, teaching proper procedures and archery techniques. 2. To teach every camper an orientation or Archery the first time that a group comes to Archery. 3. To plan exciting and creative games to increase enthusiasm and interest in Archery. 4. To completely set up and break down the Archery Program area each day. 5. To complete a facility safety check of the archery range and equipment each day reporting back to the supervisor with any and all needs. 6. General up keep of all archery equipment

9 7. To ensure that there is a cooler full of fresh water each day at the archery range for groups. 8. Ensure that the Archery First-Aid kit is up-to-date and fully stocked each day. 9. Should archery be cancelled for inclement weather, to have a back-up indoors plan prepared and ready. This should be at least 60 minutes long, age appropriate, and involve the entire group.
