1 Mini Portable 5V with USB port PART NO This project uses an USB-A female cable as output of 5V while a male power jack connector is utilized as input of 9V. Assembling together the 5V voltage regulator and mounting on this the male power jack, it constitutes a solid device joined to the USB-A female cable. Being practically a input/output cable, with this project you can assemble two projects in-one; that is, one for being utilized with 9V battery and other with a 9VDC charger, 300mA. 3 Step 2-10" USB-A Male to USB-A Female Cable Identify the terminal of USB-A female cable. Step 3 - Cut and obtain the USB-A/Female Cut about the USB-port for obtaining what you need to this project.

4 Step 4 - Identify the Wires Red & Black Remove the plastic insulation for finding the wires red and black that will be the useful connections for this project. Step 5 - Diagram of the Project Observe the diagram before beginning to work in your project.

5 Step V Voltage Regulator Verify with this image the details of connection of the voltage regulator. Step 7 - DC Power Jack Male DC Power Jack Male is the input of this project.

6 Step 8 - Mount the Power Jack on the Voltage Regulator Mount the power jack male on the voltage regulator. That is, the power jack male will be mounted above the voltage regulator. Step 9 - Output Regulator to Positive Power Jack For connecting the voltage regulator with the power jack male, you can use a piece of wire.

7 Step 10 - Drawing the Positive & Negative Wires from Your Voltage Regulator For drawing the positive & negative wires from your voltage regulator, you need to use a couple of wires with enough length for connecting at the rest of the project. Step 11 - Using 1/8" Heat Shrink Tubing Use 1/8" heat shrink tubing so that you can cover the terminals drawn of your voltage regulator.

8 Step 12 - Using 1/2" Heat Shrink Tube Use 1/2" heat shrink tube so that you can cover completely the connections of this part of your project. Step 13 - Solder the 1uF Capacitor Solder the component carefully so that the project functions correctly.

9 Step 14 - Covering with Heat Shrink Tube For this step, you can use either 1/2" or 1/4" heat shrink tube so that you can cover correctly the connections done in this section of your project. Step 15 - Completing the First Part of This Project For completing your project, use Heat-Shrink tubes for stylizing it if you want.

10 Step 16 - Preparing the 9V Charger Version Cut the other USB-A female to USB-A male, and so you can solder between them the 1uF capacitor. Step 17 - Voltage Regulator, Heat Sink & Power Jack Male Mounting your voltage regulator on the heat sink and using a screw of 1/8", you can adjust it perfectly doing a precise work. Also, mount and solder the negative terminals of your power jack male.

11 Step 18 - Power Jack Male & 0.1uF Capacitor Connecting the positive terminal of the power jack male to the input of your +5V voltage regulator using a 1/8" heat shrink tube for covering the connective wire, you can connect the 0.1uF capacitor between the input and GND terminal of this regulator. Step 19 - GND & Output Regulator Terminal Draw two wires of your voltage regulator: one from its GND and other from its output terminal by covering both terminals with 1/8" heat shrink tubing.

12 Step 20-1/4" Heat Shrink Tube Use 1/4" heat shrink tubing so that you can cover the terminals drew of your voltage regulator. Step 21 - Last Connections Connect what you did in step 12 and step 16 so that you can conclude the last connections of your project. Also note that you should match the red wires for joining correctly both parts.

13 Step 22 - Complete the Project Centering the 1/2" heat shrink tube, you can fully cover the connections. Step 23 - Two Versions of the Project Seeing the two versions of the project, you can realize of its features and noting the difference between both.
