2 OPEN GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS DATE: March 2015 VENUE: FORMAT: Fairmont St Andrews Golf Club 36 holes at the Torrance and Kittocks Courses at Fairmont St Andrews, Scotland. Tee-off times to be posted on the AoC Sport website on Tuesday 24 February CLOSING DATE FOR ENTRIES: Friday 6 February 2015 ENTRY FORMS Entries will only be accepted on the attached official entry form. Please complete and return to AoC Sport, 14 North Street Workshops, North Street, Stoke-sub-Hamdon, Somerset, TA14 6QR no later than Friday 6 February 2015 along with an entry fee of 95 per competitor. Cheques should be made payable to AoC Sport. PRACTICE ROUNDS Practice rounds are available at the Fairmont courses on Sunday 8 and Monday 9 March 2015, at a preferred rate of 25 per round. Please note: this is subject to availability ring the golf club directly on to book times and arrange payment. REFRESHMENTS Soup and rolls/sandwiches will be provided for players when they come off the course on both competition days. Refreshments for staff are to be purchased separately from the club house. PRESENTATION The presentation will be held after all players have completed the second round. RULES OF GOLF The Championships shall be governed in accordance with AoC Sport regulations and shall be played in accordance with the rules of golf of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews. Such local rules as shall be approved by the Championship Committee. 2. AMATEUR STATUS All competitors must be an Amateur as defined by the rules of Amateur Status as approved by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews. 3. ENTRIES All entries shall be made on an official Entry Form, obtainable from AoC Sport, accompanied by the relevant entry fee and received by the stipulated closing date. All entries shall be subject to the approval of the Championship Committee. 4. GENERAL CONDITIONS 4.1 The player must start at the time established by the Committee. If the player arrives at his starting point, ready to play, within five minutes after his starting time, in the absence of circumstances that warrant wavering the penalty of disqualification as provided in Rule 33-7, the penalty for failure to start on time is two strokes at the first hole. Penalty for lateness beyond five minutes is disqualification. (Rule 6-3.a) 4.2 If the Championship becomes impossible to complete in accordance with the Championship Conditions, thereof because of adverse weather conditions or circumstances which, in the opinion of the Championship Committee, make it impossible or impractical to do so, the Championship Committee shall be empowered to vary such conditions to the extent necessary to achieve a result within the time available. 4.3 All competitors will be required to play with golf balls that are on the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews List of Conforming balls current at the date of the Championship. Penalty for breach is disqualification. 4.4 Players shall walk at all times during a stipulated round unless permitted to ride by the Championship Committee. 5. DISTANCE MEASURING DEVICES (DMDS) DMDs/range finders are permitted but only those that calculate distance. Devices providing other information, such as wind speed, temperature and elevation, will not be allowed. Any player found using a DMD/range finder will be in breach of Rule Penalty for breach is disqualification regardless of whether any such additional function is actually used. 6. MOBILE PHONES Calls/text messages shall not be made or received on the course by players except in the case of emergencies. Penalty for breach of rule 14-3 is disqualification. 7. HANDICAPS All competitors must hold a CONGU handicap and proof of handicap must be provided along with the entry form. Suspension of Play Due to Dangerous Situation (Rule 6-8b) 8. SUSPENSION OF PLAY DUE TO A DANGEROUS SITUATION 8.1 The specimen Condition in the Rules of Golf (pages ) is in effect i.e. when the klaxon sounds, play must be discontinued immediately. Penalty for breach of condition is disqualification. 8.2 Resumption of Play (Rule 6-8b) will be signalled by two short blasts of the Klaxon. Competitors must then (but not before then) resume play. 4 9. RETURNING SCORECARDS A player s score card is deemed officially returned to the Committee when he/she has left the recording office/area. 10. TECHNICAL MEETING The results of the competition are deemed officially announced and the competition is closed when the Championship Trophy is presented to the winner(s). 11. CONDITIONS OF PLAY AOC SPORT OPEN GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS 11.1 The AoC Sport Open Golf Championships shall be played by Stroke Play over 36 holes over two days. Each competitor shall play one round per day, with one round on the Torrance Course, one round on the Kittocks Course Competitors may be required to show proof of handicap; competitors must therefore provide a handicap certificate certified by their home club prior to play commencing The winning college will be the college team returning the lowest gross score over 36 holes The AoC Sport Open Golf Champion golfer(s) will be the male and female returning the lowest individual gross scores over 36 holes from all competitors. 12. QUALIFICATION To be eligible to enter, a player must be in possession of a CONGU playing handicap and studying a full-time course at an AoC Sport member college. COMPETITION CONDITIONS 1. TEAM EVENT 1.1 The Championships shall be played over 36 Holes. 1.2 The AoC Sport Open Golf Championships Team event is open to all colleges affiliated to AoC Sport. Each team will consist of four players (male or female) aged 19 or under on the 1 September The best three gross scores will count towards the team score each day. 1.3 The winning team in the AoC Sport Open Golf Championships will be the college that returns the lowest gross score over 36 holes. 1.4 A maximum of 126 golfers shall be allowed to enter the AoC Sport Open Golf Championships. If more than 126 entries are received, places will be allocated according to date of receipt of entry and exact handicap at time of entry. second 18 holes. If a tie still arises on the first 18 holes, then the last 9, 6, 3 or 1 hole of the second 18 holes. Thereafter, the score for the first round will be treated in the same way until a decision is reached. 2. INDIVIDUAL EVENT GROSS 2.1 The AoC Sport Open Golf Championships shall be played over 36 holes. 2.2 The event is open to all students studying at a college affiliated to AoC Sport. Entries for the Open Golf Championships will also be accepted from players over the age of 19 at 1 September 2014 who are not eligible to enter the team event. 2.3 The winning male and winning female will be the player(s) who returns the lowest gross score(s) over 36 holes. 5 2.4 A maximum of 46 golfers aged over 19 on 1 September 2014 and 80 golfers aged 19 and under at 1 September 2014 shall be allowed to enter the individual gross event. If more than 126 entries are received places will be allocated according to date of receipt of entry and exact handicap at time of entry. second 18 holes. ADJUSTMENT TO SCORES Where there is a differential between the male and the female par for each course, the gross score will be adjusted accordingly. For the purposes of the competition, each player playing the course with the higher par must have his/her score reduced by the difference in the par for the course. 5.
