2 About Bergen Regional Medical Center Long Term Care Behavioral Health Services Acute Care Located at 230 East Ridgewood Avenue in Paramus, NJ, Bergen Regional Medical Center provides a comprehensive set of quality services including Long Term Care, Behavioral Health Care and Acute Care to the Bergen County community. Bergen Regional is both the largest hospital with 1,070 beds and the largest licensed nursing home in New Jersey. The entire Medical Center, including its Long Term Care Division, is fully accredited by the Joint Commission. Less than 6% of Long Term Care facilities nationwide pursue and receive Joint Commission accreditation. Additionally, with 323 beds, Bergen Regional is one of the largest medical resources providing a continuum of care for the behavioral health community and is a safety net provider for the mentally impaired, elderly, uninsured or underinsured for the state of New Jersey. As a complement to its long term care and behavioral health/substance abuse expertise, Bergen Regional also offers acute medical services including: 24/7 emergency department; surgical suites; physical rehabilitation; pharmacy; laboratory; radiologic services and more than 20 ambulatory specialties available through the BRMC Clinic. 4 Long Term Care Bergen Regional Medical Center provides comprehensive, high-quality long term care services. As an accredited medical center, Bergen Regional provides nursing care as well as access to specialized on-site physicians 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Because our facility has an on-site acute care hospital, if our residents experience medical emergencies day or night, the comprehensive medical care they need is always just an elevator ride away. 6 Acute & Ambulatory Services Bergen Regional Medical Center is unique in offering more than twenty Ambulatory Specialty Services to Bergen County and its surrounding communities. These outpatient services offer wonderful convenience, enabling patients to see their doctor(s), complete lab work and have all their prescriptions filled at the same location. To schedule an appointment for any of BRMC s Ambulatory Clinics (Medical & Specialty), Radiology, Cardiology or Respiratory service areas, call Please note, a referral (consult) is needed for Specialty Clinics. GYN and Eye do not need a consult from medical to attend. Acute Rehabilitation Services The BRMC Acute Rehabilitation Department provides physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech language pathology services. Patients can be referred to any of these services by their physician. Once a physician has ordered the service, a qualified therapist will complete a thorough evaluation of strengths, limitations and rehabilitation potential. BRMC has physicians specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation on staff, who can assess a patient s rehabilitation potential and needs. 7 Critical & Emergency Care BRMC has ICU and CCU capabilities, surgical and imaging services and features a renovated and expanded emergency department. Patients can be quickly seen by emergency medical personnel 24 hours a day, seven days a week. 8 Surgical Suites & Same Day Surgery Some of the surgery specialties performed are orthopedic, podiatry, ENT, urology, gynecological, cardiovascular or abdominal surgery. Endoscopy, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy, electroconvulsive therapy and pain management are also available. Outpatient Chemotherapy/Infusion Center Registered nurses certified in chemotherapy provide outpatients chemotherapy treatment and education through our same day surgery services.
