How can I accomplish this in Home Designer when I can't use the Terrain tools inside of a room?

2 ANSWER Designing and creating an indoor swimming pool is easy to accomplish in Home Designer. For the purposes of this example, we will walk you through learning to create a basic indoor pool area. You can then take this knowledge and apply it to your own designs. To de ne the pool area 1. Launch Home Designer and select File> New Plan. 2. Next, select Build> Wall> Straight Exterior Wall and draw an enclosed rectangular room, which will contain our pool. For the purposes of our example, we will create this room approximately 35' x 25'. 3. Once your basic room is created, select Build> Wall> Room Divider, and create

3 a rectangular room inside of the larger one. Note: Once your room is fully enclosed, another room divider is automatically generated by the program, connecting the interior "island" room with the exterior of the structure. If you are using an earlier version which does not create this required wall automatically, you will need to add it in manually for the remaining steps in this article to work correctly Now, let's precisely position the room dividers distance from the walls of the main room. To accurately position walls using Temporary Dimensions 1. First, using the Select Objects tool, select one of the room dividers.

4 Once highlighted, notice the temporary dimension that displays the distance between this wall and the one horizontal to it. In Home Designer Pro, if you have toggled off the display of Temporary Dimensions, select View> Temporary Dimensions to turn this feature back on. 2. Move your mouse cursor over the dimension and after it changes in to a hand pointer, then click on the dimension. 3. Type in the precise value for the distance you want the invisible wall to be from the exterior wall.

5 Then, press the Enter key on your keyboard to move the wall that exact distance. 4. Repeat this process clockwise for the remaining three invisible walls, until all are placed the distance you want them from the main room structure's walls. Now that your invisible walls are all created, and the distance from the walls we want the edges of our pool, we are ready to modify the settings for the inside room to create the indoor pool area. To modify the pool room 1. Using the Select Objects tool, click inside of the center room, then select the Open Object edit button to display the Room Specification dialog 2. On the GENERAL panel, set the Room Type to a 'Bath', uncheck Use Room Type and set the Room Name to 'POOL'.

6 3. On the STRUCTURE panel, set the Floor (C) value to -84". 4. On the MOLDINGS panel, remove the checkmark next to Use Room Default, then Delete the Default Base Molding. 5. On the MATERIALS panel, set up appropriate materials for the Floor Covering and Walls of the pool, then click OK to apply these changes.

7 6. Now that you have finished modifying the room, let's select 3D> Create Camera View, Full Camera, then click and drag to see the results so far in 3D. 7. Once you have verified the appearance of the pool area, select File> Close View to close the 3D view and return to floor plan. Now that you have our pool room created, you are ready to add water to it.

8 To add an object and apply a water material to it 1. Select Library Browser, then navigate to Shapes> Boxes. Click on the Closed box to select it, then click in your floor plan to place it. 2. Once placed in your floor plan, select the Closed box and use the edit handles to resize it so that it extends over the entire Pool area.

9 3. With the Closed box still selected, click on the Open Object edit tool to display the Geometric Shape Specification dialog. On the GENERAL panel, set the Height of the geometric shape to 74" On the MATERIALS panel, select an appropriate Water material from the

10 Landscaping category in the Select Library Object dialog. Click OK to apply these changes and close the dialog. 4. Finally, take another Full Camera view of your pool area.
