2 What is it about Camp Kalahari? A relaxed, FAMILY-FRIENDLY traditional safari camp, ideal for those seeking fun and adventure, without sacrificing comfort or style. The camp is an ECLECTIC MIX of original AFRICAN furniture and textiles paired with TRADITIONAL campaign style furniture and COLONIAL ANTIQUES.

3 What does the rate include? All MEALS, ACTIVITIES and DRINKS are included. Flights, premium brand beverages and discretionary tips/gratuities are excluded.

4 What do I need to know? ALL AGES ARE WELCOME! There are lanterns as well as electrical lights in the Guest Tents and dining area. There are camera-charging facilities in the Mess Tent area. Children under 12 years of age must share with an adult and pay 50% of the adult rate. There is no internet connection and cell phone signal in the Camp. The desert can get extremely hot in October. The water at Camp Kalahari is SAFE TO DRINK. Water is precious in the desert, so please try to conserve it. The camp takes a maximum of 24 Guests. What will I eat? DELICIOUS, FRESH AND ORIGINAL menus. Plated meals are ELEGANTLY PRESENTED & served. Indulgent, DECADENT TEAS are served daily. Please inform the Reservations Staff of any dietary requirements prior to travel and confirm on arrival.

5 What are the facilities? The style of the camp is refreshingly SIMPLE, COSY, COMFORTABLE and traditional. Guests can relax in a traditionally built THATCH LIBRARY, LIVING AND DINING AREA. PLUNGE POOL with DECK.

6 GUEST TENTS ARE SET ON THE EDGE OF THE MAKGADIKGADI SALT PANS AMONGST THE ACACIAS AND MOKOLWANE PALMS.

7 Where will I stay? 6 TWIN TENTS and 4 DOUBLE TENTS. 1 FAMILY TENT: 2 adjacent tents, accommodating 4 guests with an inter-leading bathroom. EN-SUITE BATHROOMS, flush loos, hot and cold running water, comfy beds, crunchy cotton sheets and hot water bottles in winter!

8 ALL ELEVEN TRADITIONAL SAFARI TENTS ARE EN-SUITE AND OUTFITTED WITH RICH TEXTILES, MOROCCAN KILIMS, AND FOUR POSTER BEDS.

9 What will I do? YEAR ROUND Get up close and personal with a GROUP OF HABITUATED MEERKATS. Search out ANCIENT STONE TOOLS. Observe rare and elusive desert species such as the BROWN HYAENA. Walk with a group of ZU/ HOASI BUSHMEN for a glimpse into their ancient culture. Visit the site of CHAPMAN S BAOBAB.

11 What will I do? DRY SEASON QUAD BIKE across the lunar expanse of the salt pans. LIE OUT ON THE SALT PANS as the sun sets, and watch the planetarium show unfold with horizon-to-horizon stars. Take a radical sabbatical sign up for a 5 night quad bike expedition to KUBU ISLAND.

12 TAKE AN EPIC QUAD BIKE JOURNEY TO KUBU ISLAND, AND SLEEP OUT UNDER THE STARS AMONGST GIANT BOULDERS AND ANCIENT BAOBABS AT THE LOST ISLAND OF BAOBABS.

13 What will I do? GREEN SEASON View the last remaining zebra and wildebeest MIGRATION in Southern Africa. Spot lion, cheetah and other PREDATORS who follow in their wake. Watch migratory birds descend from the heavens to decorate the watery grasslands.

14 HORSE RIDING SAFARIS Uncharted Africa has teamed up with Ride Botswana to create fantastic horse-riding safaris. Choose between Set Date Departures: a five-night itinerary combining Camp Kalahari with two nights fly camping out on the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, or a Private Departure: from three to five-night itinerary tailored to your needs. Explore this wild, unspoilt area in the same way many as the earliest explorers, hunters and missionaries did on horseback.

16 What are the facilities? FLY CAMP AT XAU XAI: Comfortable and traditional. Dome tents and fully made up stretcher beds, and a central mess tent with dining table. Bush loos and bucket showers. FLY CAMP OUT ON THE PANS: Bedrolls under the stars & bush loos. What will I do? Long rides through INCREDIBLE SCENERY. Fly Camp at XAU XAI. (only on five-night itinerary) Visit the MEERKATS and walk with Zu/ hoasi BUSHMEN TRACKERS. Game drives to experience UNIQUE DESERT WILDLIFE. Visit CHAPMAN S and Green s Baobab. Experience the spectacular MIGRATION of zebra and wildebeest during the green season.

17 FLY CAMP OUT ON THE PANS: SLEEP OUT UNDER THE STARS IN THE DRY SEASON & WATCH THE SPECTACULAR PLANETARIUM SHOW.

18 When is a good time to go? ALL YEAR ROUND DRY SEASON: Winter 16th April 31st October GREEN SEASON: Summer 1st November 15th April Activities are weather dependent. How do I get there? Fly to Johannesburg, and then to Maun, Botswana. From Maun, take a smaller charter plane to Camp Kalahari. BOTETI RIVER Lake Ngami Zebra & Wildebeest rely on the Boteti river during the dry deason & migrate east to the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans in the green season, and stay until the waterholes dry up.
