1 Carlisle and Hampton Hill Federation News from Carlisle 8th September 2016 Welcoming Encouraging Commi ed Aspira onal Respec ul Enthusias c Message From Mrs Allum Dear Parents and Carers, Welcome back to the start of the new school year. We are delighted to welcome back both children and families returning after the summer break and new children and families who are joining Carlisle for the first time. I hope you all had a lovely summer break with your families and are as excited and positive about the new school year as we are. We are delighted to welcome to the school Miss Laura Irwin who will be teaching Kingfisher Class in Year 2. Miss Irwin knows the school well and has taught most classes in the school prior to taking up this permanent position. We hope that she will have a very happy and successful time with us. The children have returned full of enthusiasm ready for another exciting school year. Our Y1 and Y2 children have settled well in their new classes and we are very pleased to see the positive way in which they have returned to school, in both their approach to learning in class and behaviour around the school- an excellent start! Outstanding behaviour will continue to be a focus for the school and we have attached a copy of Golden Rules as many parents find these useful to refer to at home. Also attached is a summary of key points from our new School Improvement Plan that the staff and Governors will be working on in the coming year. We will keep you updated throughout the year with news of progress towards these targets. Next week we will start an exciting new Sports initiative with Sport Impact. We will be using a significant amount of our Sports Funding to provide high quality outdoor P.E and CPD for teachers. The children in Y1 and Y2 will be taught a range of skills and sports by coaches from London Welsh with their class teacher also present. Congratulations go to Mrs Elaine Hall who has successfully completed her diploma in Special Educational Needs. This is a very intensive course and it is a great achievement. We would like to congratulate Miss Megan Maloney in the School Office as she was recently awarded Apprentice of the Year by her company, Way to Work. Megan was commended for her professionalism and positive relationships with staff and parents. Over the summer we have had extensive roof works carried out and these have gone well so hopefully no more leaks when the rainy weather returns. I will be meeting with the CSA later in the week to discuss how we can make plans to spend the substantial funds that were raised last year. Some of the money will go towards the development of the cooking room which has already been cleared ready for refurbishment. In the next few weeks we will also be electing our new School Council and I am sure they will also have lots of great ideas. Please remember that we do have an Open Door policy and if there is a matter you would like to discuss with myself or the Deputy Headteacher, Mrs Jaloszynski then please call to make an appointment or to see if we are available to speak to you. We look forward to another brilliant year at Carlisle Infants.

2 Notices/Reminders School Meals/Pack Lunches Please remember you must give one week s notice (from a Monday) for your child to change from school meals to pack lunches or vice versa. This is due to kitchen staff needing to know what to order for the following week. We appreciate your cooperation with this. After School Clubs Please note there is no football club tomorrow. All after school clubs will commence next week. Art Club-Amendment-The Art club is now open to Year 1 and 2 children and will now be held on a Monday. Forms were sent home yesterday. Jumblerama and Boundless Dance club are now full. There is space available for other clubs. Please see website for booking forms. Sorry but there are no afterschool clubs for reception children. Scooters & Ball Games May we remind all parents/carers that there must be no ball games in the playground during morning drop off and after school pick up. Also all scooters must be left in the scooter area and children and siblings are not to be scooting around the playground. We thank you for your understanding. Naming personal items/clothes It is essential that all of your child s belongings are named, especially school uniform. All lost unnamed property will be placed in the yellow wheelie bin at the front of the school. Please check this regularly as any uncollected items will be recycled at the end of each term. Any items that are brought into school for show and tell are brought in at your own risk. You should ensure that any items are clearly and permanently named. Egg Boxes and Junk Modelling Please donate any egg boxes for our chickens who are busy laying lots of eggs. Also request from Year 1 for lots of items to be used for junk modelling.tubes, cereal boxes, plastic bottles. Please drop off at the school office. Thank you.

Reading diaries You will be given a Year 1/Year 2 Information Booklet to take away with you, and this provides additional information. There will also be an opportunity to ask any questions or queries you may have. The meetings will take place as a year group in the hall and as space is limited, if possible, please arrange for younger children to be looked after for this time.
