1 NC Nighthawks AAU Basketball team Expectations Goals #1 Have fun #2 Academics 3.2 GPA or better #3 Build an AAU basketball team that not only is competitive but also academically gifted. Colors and Uniform Purple and White. Reversible jersey and shorts, practice shirt and travel string bag. Season We will start the season in early February when middle school basketball ends. The season will run until mid-july depending on the tournaments later in the season. We will have travel outside of the local area and even have a couple of tournaments outside of the state if possible. The goal is to have three practice times weekly depending on cost of gym and time. Practice Sessions Our team will practice at least two to three practices a week (weeknights and maybe a Saturday). The practice time is to develop individual skills and team concepts. Turnovers and missed shots are part of the game. The emphasis is placed on reducing the frequency of these occurrences and promote building teamwork as one unit. Accepting constructive coaching is part of the game and will make everybody better for their teammates. Playing time Every player is a contributing member of the team, but all players will not play the same amount of minutes each game. The decision towards playing time will be based on attitude, work ethic and practice efficiency. If you have any issues with your parents playing time please address it with me The goal is to be fair and make sure very child plays a positive role with the team.

2 Financial Commitment The NC Nighthawks is committed to providing a completive basketball team to all student-athletes who are interested. Participating with this team takes a lot of commitment from the players, parents and students. Our goal is to fund the entire program though a one-time fee so we do not have to fund raise throughout the season. Please realize that you as a parent will have some added cost for hotels, food and mileage out of your own personal accounts. What your fees include: AAU individual registration Practice Insurance Practice jersey, game jersey and shorts Practice gym time Tournament cost Equipment Registration Fees: Registration Fee.$900 Due by March 15

3 Player s and Parent s Responsibility and Code of Conduct Player s Code Focus on what the team is doing and work hard in practice to improve my skills and physical abilities. I understand if I make little or no effort in practice I will get little or no playing time in the games. Treat everyone with respect, including coaches, teammates, players/fans of opponent teams and team parents. Go to the coaches first if you have a problem if you have a problem with the team. I will not complain to others about issues with the Nighthawks until I have given the person I have a problem with an opportunity fix the issue. Practice good habits, get eight plus hours a sleep a week, eat property (like an athlete), and hydrate every day (eight glasses of water) in order to keep your muscles fueled and healthy. Parent s Code Understand our objective is to have a very competitive basketball team, to win as many games as possible. I agree to let the coaches coach. I understand that my child may or may not get all of the playing time as expected, but the Nighthawks want to play as a team first and win second. Be an example of good sportsmanship by making only positive comments about the players and officials. 4 Tournaments and Practice Do your best to arrive to practice at least 5 minutes early When playing in a tournament arrive at least 60 minutes early The players determines their playing time with being a team player, practice effort, academics, be responsible and respectful, great defense, know the plays and positions, hustle at all times, and always give 100% for your teammates. The Nighthawks are all about team so do not let your teammates down, practice hard, pay attention and have fun. We will participate in tournaments within a two hour drive and some tournaments outside of the state. All cost of travel, hotel, and food will be the responsibility of each individual parent. I have received, read and discussed with my student-athlete the information in the NC Nighthawks expectations. I understand all of the items outlined in the expectations and agree to abide by the rules of the Nighthawks. Each play and parent must sign the expectations before they are allowed to play. Additionally, each player must provide a photocopy of birth certificate, most recent report card and copy of health insurance card before he will be eligible to start the AAU season.
