1 HEAD COACH REGULATIONS WBYFC will review all applications and interview each of the potential candidates. The Executive Board will then vote on each applicant according to our Coaches Policies. Each Head Coach will hold the position for a term of 1 season. He/She will remain the Head Coach of the same team during his/her term. At the end of their season they may re-apply. Head coaches from the previous year are not guaranteed a coaching position for the next year/season. All Head Coaches and Assistant Head Coaches will be interviewed each year. Any team that has a Head Coach position come available during the season either by resignation or disciplinary action or any other incident that renders him/her unable to fulfill his/her duties shall have the designated Assistant Head Coach assume the role on an interim basis. COACH POLICIES All Head Coach Positions are filled from candidates submitted to the Executive Board by any member of the WBYFC, its parents, guardians or supporters. All WBYFC coaches are required to submit to a background check before any contact with the children. All coaches will attend various mandatory meetings before and during each season. These meetings will consist of safety and first aid training, cooperation within the WBYFC (coaches, parents and football players/cheerleaders), team growth and development and various misc. aspects relating to the WBYFC. Also the Director of Equipment will teach proper equipment fitting and maintenance of all equipment. Safety is our #1 concern and all coaches will conduct safe and sane drills and prevent mismatches in practices. WBYFC strives to attract the best coaches with the experience necessary to run a program that will give each child the proper tools to achieve success. Coaches meetings are conducted to insure that all rules are understood and that all of the requirements are met. All of the WBYFC coaches are volunteers and are dedicating a great deal of their time to coach these children. This is meant to be a time of teaching and growth for the children. OUR MAIN FOCUS MUST REMAIN TO BE A POSITIVE ROLE MODEL FOR ALL THE CHILDREN IN OUR PROGRAM! HEAD COACH, ASSISTANT COACH & HELPERS The Head Coach for each team will be approved by a simple majority vote from the Executive Board. There will be one Head Coach per football team/cheerleading squad. The Head Coach will submit candidates for Assistant Head Coach and Assistant Coaches to the Executive Board for approval each season. No parent, sponsor, or other person(s) who has not completed the WBYFC Coach Policies may instruct or help with the children at a practice or at a game. The Head Coach is responsible for all actions of the team, assistant coaches and parents. There will be a Head Coach and/or Assistant Coach present at all practices, games and/or events. No Coach will leave the field or event until all football players/cheerleaders on their team/squad have left the field or event. At no time will a Coach leave a football player/cheerleader unattended at a practice and/or event. The Coaches Code of Conduct will be strictly adhered to and enforced by the Executive Board.
2 An accident log must be kept and all accidents must be reported according to our insurance policies. A record of attendance must be kept on all players/cheerleaders at all practices, games, and/or events. You will document any football player/cheerleader found in violation of the code of conduct. Copies of the violation(s) will be given to the parent(s)/guardian(s) and one copy to the Director of Football or Cheerleading for review. The Executive Board will review any violations and impose any disciplinary action deemed necessary. Coaches will represent WBYFC in a positive manner in all events on and off the field. Coaches will show good sportsmanship at all times and be a positive role model for the children. Coaches found to be in violation of the code of conduct or misrepresentation of WBYFC in any manner on or off the field will be brought before the Executive Board for disciplinary actions. To include but not limited to temporary suspensions to immediate dismissal. All decisions of the WBYFC Executive Board are final and not subject to an appeal. As a Coach, you are one of the most important elements in youth sports. You must be familiar with the concepts, goals, and philosophies of WBYFC and the CCYFL (Clermont County Youth Football League). A knowledgeable, team oriented Coach brings success to their program which not only reflects on their own team, but all teams within the league. All our Coaches are to be concerned with the player s grades, citizenship and how effective his/her coaching is to the participants. While winning as well as losing is part of every sport, great emphasis must be placed upon sportsmanship and overall attitude of the team(s). Coaches must realize that they are not just a Coach to their team. Their conduct on and off the field reflects upon their ability to positively impact their team and our community. You must teach teamwork, cooperation, discipline and demand hard work from your athletes. Strive to make practice and games fun and rewarding for the athletes so they will look forward to returning next season. All Coaches must keep themselves informed and up to date on the latest training techniques, drills, isometrics and stretching exercises used for developing young bodies. Coaches should know the proper way to instruct blocking, tackling, and other football techniques to prevent injury. Cheerleading coaches will be required to complete any coarse / clinic as determined by WBYFC prior to the start of season's first practice. Only Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches may assist is spotting tumbling as necessary; no Junior Coaches will be permitted to be spotters. Cheer coaches must be able to teach fundamental cheer techniques and motions as necessary. They also must be able to teach their routine while keeping all aspects clean and age-appropriate. All cheer coaches should instruct on proper voice projection. Cheer coaches are to be an example to their cheerleaders and set the expectation of good behavior and sportsmanship at all times. It is mandatory that all Coaches have reasonable knowledge in first aid as it relates to youth sports. It is your responsibility to attend Coaching clinics to assist you in becoming familiar with philosophies and proper coaching techniques. You must have a thorough knowledge of the rules of the game and of the rules and policies that govern the WBYFC. The following two publications combine to make the playing rules for CCYFL: 1. CCYFL rule book. This book is provided by the CCYFL and each team shall have one on hand at all times. 2. The Ohio High School Athletic Association rule book. ALL FOOTBALL HEAD COACHES AND ASSISTANT HEAD COACHES must attend our MANDATORY coaching clinic in order to participate in the WBYFC. This decision is final and there will be NO EXCEPTIONS OR APPEALS. ALL Head and any/all Assistant Coaches for the WBYFC organization, once approved by the Board, must attend the WBYFC 101 meeting prior to the season starting. This meeting will be hosted by the WBYFC Board for the purpose of providing all new and returning coaches information regarding the expectations the Board has for each and every coach, rules that must be followed, as well as the disciplinary actions that shall be taken against a Coach (Head or Assistant) for their inability comply with said expectations/rules.
3 I have read & understood the WBYFC and CCYFL philosophies and rules. I understand my name and a background check form will be forwarded to the WBYFC once submitted and completed. ANY VIOLENCE, DOMESTIC OR OTHERWISE, AND ANY DRUG CHARGES OR FELONIES WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE DISQUALIFICATION OF THE APPLICANT FOR ANY POSITION IN THE WBYFC ORGANIZATION. I agree with the objectives in the above policies and will, at all times, set a positive example for all the youth that will lead to their development as good athletes and responsible citizens.
