2 1. How To Sign In {TOP} 1. Sign In Sign into SharePoint by clicking Sign In at top right. When prompted, enter your user name and password. NOTE: If you are off campus or using a non-managed computer, you will need to enter your user name as ONEPURDUE\CareerAccountID.
3 2. How To Create A Folder {TOP} 1. Sign into SharePoint as shown in Topic 1 How To Sign In 2. Navigate to the location where the new folder will be created 3. Create a folder Once you re in the folder where you want to create a new subfolder, click on the Documents option below the Library Tools heading to display the ribbon. Then click the New Folder button.
4 4. Name your new folder Type the name of your new folder and click the Save button.
5 3. How To Upload A File {TOP} 1. Sign into SharePoint as shown in Topic 1 How To Sign In 2. Navigate into the folder where you want to place your new files. If you want to upload folders in the root folder, go to step #3. 3. Upload Document Once you re in the folder where you want to upload your files, click Add document.
6 If you click on the Documents option below the Library Tools heading, you will also have the option to click on the Upload Document button in the ribbon as shown in the image below. If you want to upload a single document, click Browse and locate the document on your computer. If you want to upload multiple documents, click Upload Multiple Files. You also have the option at this point to change the destination folder if so desired. Once you have selected your file(s), click OK. Selecting the Upload Multiple Files allows for entire folders to be uploaded.
7 4. How To Add/Remove Users To/From A Site {TOP} 1. Sign into SharePoint as shown in Topic 1 How To Sign In 2. Go to Site Actions Click Site Actions at top left and select Site Settings:
8 3. Users and Permissions Click People and groups under the Users and Permissions heading. 4. Remove Users Click the checkbox next to a user s name and then click the Actions menu and select Remove Users from Group. 5. Add Users Click the New menu and select Add Users :
9 Enter user(s) in the User/Groups box and click to check names as shown below. Uncheck the option to send to the new users and then click OK.
10 5. How To Connect To A Document List With Windows Explorer {TOP} 1. Sign into SharePoint as shown in Topic 1 How To Sign In 2. Navigate to the relevant document list 3. Display ribbon Click on the Library option below the Library Tools heading to display the ribbon. 4. Open with Explorer Click on the Open with Explorer button in the ribbon as shown below. If prompted, enter your user name and password. Windows Explorer should now open with the document list visible and you can copy/paste/edit/delete documents as usual.

How To Add A Persistent Network Location {TOP} Note: If you want to add a SharePoint document list to your computer so it is always easily accessible via Windows Explorer, you can create a Network Location in Windows 7 using the steps below. 1. Sign into SharePoint as shown in Topic 1 How To Sign In 2. Navigate to the relevant document list 3. Display ribbon Click on the Library option below the Library Tools heading to display the ribbon.
12 4. Open with Explorer Click on the Open with Explorer button in the ribbon as shown below. If prompted, enter your user name and password. 5. Highlight address to be used Within the Windows Explorer window that just opened, highlight the address as shown below and then right click with your mouse and select copy. 6. Open and run Add Network Location Wizard Go to your desktop and double-click Computer : If you don t see the Computer icon on the desktop, you can click the Windows Start button and click on the Computer icon shown.
13 Find a blank area within the computer window, right-click, and select Add a network location as shown in the following two images.
14 The Network Location wizard should appear. Click the Next button: In the next Window, click the Next button.
15 Paste the Internet address that you copied in a previous step and click Next. Give the Network Location a name and click Next
16 In the next window that appears, click the Finish button. Your folder will now appear with your list of drives in Windows Explorer and in the Computer window.
17 7. How To Import Folders Into A Document List {TOP} Note: There may be security and technical reasons why this may not work on every computer. However, if it works on your computer, you may find it useful to transfer large numbers of folders and files. Method 1: 1. Connect to a document list with Windows Explorer as shown in Topic 5 How To Connect To A Document List With Windows Explorer 2. Import folders Once Windows Explorer opens, you can copy/paste/edit/delete documents as usual. Method 2 (Drag and Drop): 1. Sign into SharePoint as shown in Topic 1 How To Sign In
18 2. Navigate to the relevant documents location 3. Display ribbon Click on the Documents option below the Library Tools heading to display the ribbon and then click on Upload Document.
19 4. Drag and drop folders Click on the Upload Multiple Files option shown in the first image below to reveal the drag and drop window as shown in the second image. Windows Explorer will need to be opened. Once opened, you can drag files and folders from Windows Explorer to the area shown below. If no destination folder is chosen, the selected folders will be copied to the root of the document list that was being viewed. Click OK to complete the folder import process.
20 8. How To Delete A File or Folder {TOP} 1. Sign into SharePoint as shown in Topic 1 How To Sign In 2. Navigate to the file(s) or folder(s) that you want to delete 3. Delete the item Hover your mouse over the item to delete and you ll see a small down-arrow at the far right of the item. Click the down-arrow to see the drop-down menu for that item and then click on Delete.
21 4. Delete multiple items To delete multiple files and/or folders, hover your mouse over the item to delete and select the checkbox to the left. When multiple items are checked, the ribbon at the top will appear and you will be able to select the Delete Document button.
