3 Creating a Multiple Interface Statistics View 1 Creating a Multiple Interface Statistics View With the Multiple Object Chart resource, SolarWinds Orion NPM allows you to customize your own multiple interface statistics views. This document provides guidance for using this feature. Creating a New Multiple Interface Statistics View Create a new, custom view as shown in the following procedure. Note: In environments where security is a priority, SolarWinds recommends against providing a view where users may change their own web console account passwords. To create a new view: 1. Log in to the Orion Web Console as an Administrator. 2. Click Settings in the top right of the web console. 3. Click Manage Views in the Views group. 4. Click Add. 5. Enter the Name of New View, and then select Summary as the Type of View. Note: The Type of View selection affects how the view is made accessible to users, and your choice may not be changed later. For more information, see Views by Device Type in the Administrator Guide for your SolarWinds product. 6. Click Submit. After you have created a new view, the Customize YourView page opens. Customizing Your New Multiple Interface Statistics View Configure your new view as indicated in the following procedure. To edit an existing view: 1. If you are not already on the Customize YourView page of the web console, complete the following steps: a. Click Settings in the top right, and then click Manage Views in the Views group. b. Select your new view from the list, and then click Edit. 2. If you want to change the column layout of your view, complete the following steps. a. Click Edit to the right of the column widths. b. Select the number of columns under Layout. c. Provide the width, in pixels, of each column in the appropriate fields. d. Click Submit. 3. Click + next to the column in which you want to add new multiple interface statistics resources. 4. Click + next to the Multiple Series Charts resource group. 5. Check Multiple Interfaces Chart, and then click Submit. 6. Click Done on the Customize YourView page.

4 2 Upgrading to ipmonitor v10 Adding Your New View to the Web Console Menu The menu bars displayed at the top of every page may be configured to display various menu items, including your own custom views, as indicated in the following procedure. To customize your web console menu bar to include your new multiple interface statistics view: 1. Click Settings in the top right of the web console. 2. Click Customize Menu Bars in the Customize grouping of the Orion Website Administration page. 3. If you want to create a new menu bar, complete the following steps: a. Click New Menu Bar, and then provide a Name for the New Menu Bar. b. Click and drag your multiple interface statistics view from the Available items list on the left to the Selected items list on the right. Note: Hover over any view title for a description. Selected items display from left to right in the new menu bar as listed from top to bottom. 4. If you want to modify an existing menu, complete the following steps: a. Click Edit under the menu bar you want to modify. b. Click and drag your multiple interface statistics view from the Available items list on the left to the Selected items list on the right. Note: Hover over any view title to read a description. Selected items display from left to right in the edited menu bar as they are listed from top to bottom. 5. If you have finished editing your menu bar, click Submit. Editing a New Multiple Interfaces Chart Resource The following procedure configures a new Multiple Interfaces Chart resource to display your desired interface statistics. To edit a multiple interfaces chart resource: 1. Open your custom multiple interface statistics view. 2. Click Edit in the header of the Multiple Interfaces Chart resource. 3. Edit the Title and Subtitle of the resource, as appropriate. 4. Select the type of interface statistics you want to view in the Select a Chart field. 5. If you want Orion NPM to automatically detect the interfaces to display on the selected view, select Automatically display interfaces related to the current view. 6. If you want to specfically select the interfaces to display on the selected view, complete the following steps: a. Select Select specific interfaces. b. Click Select Interfaces. c. Use the Group by: and Search for: fields to create an appropriate list of interfaces to monitor. d. Check the interfaces you want to monitor, and then click the green, right arrow to move them into the Selected Interfaces list. e. Click Submit. 7. If you only want to display the top XX interfaces for the selected chart, check the Limit Series option, and then select the appropriate number of interface series to display.

Select from the following options in the Show Sum in Data Series field for displaying a series sum: Don t show the sum Only show the sum (individual interface series will not display) Also show the sum (all individual interface series will display with an addtional sum series) 9. Select an appropriate Time Period and Sample Interval. 10. Select whether or not you want to automatically hide the resource in the event that there is no interface data to display. 11. Click Submit.
