Key skills and thinking skills are embedded in museum learning. By visiting our nine museums to take part in our learning programmes and by using our online learning resources we can help support pupil development of: Communication skills: All of our learning programmes include strong elements of speaking and listening as well as some elements of reading and writing. Using objects and archive material as the stimulus pupils are given opportunities to critically analyse evidence, present information, respond to questions and take part in group discussion. Application of number: Museums and archives demonstrate the practical application of number through problem solving using creativity and real life historical situations. Documentary evidence such as statistics and data processing are used within our programmes providing pupils with opportunities to apply learnt skills as well as engaging in new challenges. Information technology: Specific learning programmes and online resources use ICT creativity to engage pupils in the exploration of a range of sources, developing skills in enquiry, analysis, interpretation and evaluation. We also offer a wide range of multi media experiences enabling pupils to present information in original and expressive formats. Working together: Our learning programmes offer opportunities for pupils to work together to solve problems and meet challenges that in turn, encourage cooperation and understanding. Working in the museum environment also offers pupils the opportunity to develop social skills and an awareness of others needs.

3 Booking your visit Improving own learning and performance: Museums and archives offer pupils unique learning experiences that stimulate independent enquiry and creative thought processes. This enables pupils to reflect and evaluate their work in new and exciting ways that can support the improvement of learning and performance. > How to book your visit To book a led session delivered by one of our experienced education enablers or self directed visit: Contact: Led sessions I hour per child 2 hour per child Book an all day visit and receive a 15% discount* Please have the following information available when you call: Date for your visit Number of children Year group Any SEN requirements We look forward to your call Problem Solving: Our learning programmes present pupils with historical and creative challenges and problems, identified through enquiry and investigation.
