1 Business and Regional Systems Marketing Bulletin IFIS Pro Line Bombardier Challenger 300 Ref. No. BRS-00.8M Pub Date 0/06 Get your airplane ready for Pro Line Advanced by installing this IFIS prerequisite. Flight crew situational awareness and enhancing safety has been a Rockwell Collins hallmark. The Rockwell Collins Integrated Flight Information System (IFIS) provides: > > Electronic charts for approach plates, airport diagrams, NOTAMs and procedures such as standard instrument departures (SlDs), and standard terminal arrival routes (STARS) > > Strategic weather information is available from XM Weather (broadcast) or Universal Weather (data link) services > > Enhanced navigation maps that include geopolitical features, restricted and controlled airspace, and high-and lowaltitude airways. At the heart of IFIS is the File Server Unit (FSU). The FSU uses a high-bandwidth Ethernet bus to interface with the Pro Line Multi-Function Displays (MFDs). Accentuating the value of Pro Line integrated flight decks is Rockwell Collins' patented Chartlink. For Rockwell Collins FMS-equipped aircraft, the electronic charts work seamlessly with the FMS through Chartlink. As the departure and destination airports are entered into the FMS, the appropriate electronic charts are automatically loaded, including alternates. In the case of a rerouting to a new approach and new runway, the pilot can easily select the appropriate charts from the Charts menu. This decreases head-down time and crew workload while increasing crew efficiency. Rockwell Collins is proud to offer additional value to your purchase through a limited time offer of CASP (Corporate Aircraft Service Program) discounts for both new and existing enrollments. CASP is a premier maintenance and cost management program, which assures maximum aircraft dispatchability, minimum downtime, and reduced life cycle costs. Choose from 3 levels of service, tailored for your operational needs: CASP Essential, CASP, or CASP Elite.
2 ELECTRONIC CHARTS IFIS replaces printed charts with high resolution electronic charts. Through integration with the aircraft GPS, your own aircraft symbol can be displayed with geo-referenced approach, airport and airspace charts, allowing flight crews to monitor actual aircraft position. As a result, operating at night, in low visibility conditions or at unfamiliar airports becomes easier and more intuitive. Pan and zoom features, as well as selectable day or night mode operation, allows for easier viewing. Electronic Charts With a dual MFD and dual FSU installation, system redundancy is available to support operation without paper terminal charts. When required, paperless operational approval is achieved through your local certification office. GRAPHICAL WEATHER With IFIS, pilots have a powerful new tool to help them make more strategic decisions about their flight plans. Pilots can look at the big weather picture prior to each flight and during the flight as weather develops. Rockwell Collins IFIS offers two distinct weather service options, XM Satellite Weather and Universal Weather services. Winds Aloft XM Satellite Weather is a continuous broadcast weather service offered in the Continental United States (CONUS): > > NEXRAD ( NM Resolution) > > Echo tops and movement > > Graphical and textual METARs > > Graphical and textual SIGMETS > > Textual AIRMETS and TAFs Universal Weather, for aircraft equipped with VHF data link, is a service offered worldwide Satellite Images > > NEXRAD images (Continental United States, 7 NM Resolution) > > NEXRAD with tops/movement (Continental United States) > > Icing > > Winds/temps > > Turbulence > > Weather depiction Lightning, SIGMETS, METARS IFIS Pro Line Bombardier Challenger 300. 3 ENHANCED NAVIGATION MAPS The enhanced graphical capabilities of IFIS can provide overlays to the traditional navigation maps with the following: > > Geographic features such as rivers, lakes and oceans > > Political boundaries such as national and state borders > > Controlled, restricted and prohibited airspace > > High and low airways KEY BENEFITS > > Enhanced peace of mind on the airport surface and on approach to landing > > Improved situational awareness > > Reduced workload during critical phases of flight > > Reduced reliance on paper charts > > Growth path for future functionalities > > Enhanced Aircraft Value > > IFIS is a path to paperless operational approval Geographic features and Political boundaries with XM weather overlay 3-D FLIGHT PLAN MAP The optional 3-D flight plan map feature provides an intuitive, three-dimensional graphical representation of the programmed flight plan and predicted flight path on the pilot and copilot MFDs. The viewing angle may be rotated to any orientation providing flight crews with a clear visual reference of climb constraints, the VNAV descent path and approach/missed-approach procedures. The 3-D map display is easily controlled with the new CCP-50 Cursor Control Panel that includes a joystick for view angle adjustment. FUTURE FUNCTIONALITY IFIS flexible architecture allows for future improvements such as additional XM Weather information products, enhanced chart capabilities and many others. With many new features to come, IFIS offers a robust platform that can continue to increase situational awareness and enhance safety. Controlled, Restricted Prohibited airspace DBU-500E The enhanced DBU-500E significantly reduces the time to load FMS and IFIS data bases, compared to CPAS, PCD and DBU See Marketing Bulletin BRS for pricing and trade-in details.
