13 Rothes CoRDe Project Benefits 1. Socio-economic benefits: Replaced ageing fossil-fuelled drying plant. Retained existing jobs (upskilling) and created additional jobs (total 22). 2. Environmental benefits: The energy produced is CO2 neutral reducing emissions by 46,000 tonnes/year. Eliminated 18,000 tonnes/year of CO2 emissions from the old drying plant. Result: Net CO2 benefit 64,000 tonnes/year. Electricity equivalent to power 9,000 homes Converts distilling by-products into useful products at low environmental cost 3. Energy efficiency: Higher energy efficiency Supports sustainable policies for all stakeholders Control on costs Page 13
