1 Golden Empire MLS, Inc. IDX (Internet Data exchange) INFORMATIONAL PACKET IDX is an evolving concept and additional issues and solutions may emerge as time goes by. It is anticipated that the policies and implementation will be revised and supplemented as new information or resources become available.

Definition of IDX IDX is essentially rules and enabling technologies allowing Participants in the MLS to give each other permission to display each others listings on their web sites or smart devices; each participant giving this permission also receives reciprocal permission from other participants. Only the listings of MLS Participants who have opted in of IDX can be displayed on the web sites or smart device of other IDX participants. IDX is an evolving concept and additional issues and solutions may emerge as time goes by. It is anticipated that the policies and implementation will be revised and supplemented as new information or resources become available. 2. Definition of terms: (for purposes of this informational packet only) IDX = Internet Data Exchange DRMLS = Broker Participants of the Golden Empire MLS, Inc. DRMLSX = Same as above and additionally signifying those who have opted into IDX. 3. Purpose The purpose of Internet Data Exchange (IDX) is to empower MLS Participants to deal with the real estate consumer of the future. Among the objectives are: Consumers, when searching the Internet, will find that the sites with the most complete information on real estate will be Participant sites. Permitting MLS Participants to fully market their services on the Internet. Permitting Participants to take advantage of the data other Participants have contributed to the system. Permitting Participants to obtain and maintain first contact with the consumer in the real estate transaction. 4. Participation: Eligible to participate in IDX are MLS Participants and MLS Subscribers, who have the permission of their IDX participating broker, who actively participate in the MLS and are actively engaged in providing real estate brokerage services to buyers or sellers in real estate transactions. 5. IDX Database: The IDX database is the current aggregate compilation of DRMLSX active exclusive right to sell listings, except those listings where the property seller has opted out of Internet publication by so indicating on the listing contract.

Publication of Database: DRMLSX may publish all or a portion of the IDX database on the Internet in accordance with the following provisions and in keeping with any policies that GEMLS, Inc. may from time to time adopt: a) An Internet republication of IDX database shall contain only those fields of data designated by GEMLS for this purpose. Fewer fields may be displayed. b) Data must be updated on the web site or smart device at least weekly. c) Data may not be modified or manipulated. (This is not a limitation on the design of the web site or smart device, but refers to the actual data.) d) Following statement must appear on each page containing data from the IDX database: Information deemed reliable, but not guaranteed. Copyright Golden Empire MLS, Inc e) Each listing displayed from the IDX database will contain the name of the listing firm and the listing agent, in the same size type as the other data regarding the listing. It is not required that the telephone number or contact information for the listing firm and listing salesperson be provided. f) Any web site or smart device used for publication of the IDX database or any portion thereof must be controlled by the DRMLSX, or an authorized salesperson of the DRMLSX. g) DRMLSX displaying the IDX database or any portion thereof shall make reasonable efforts to avoid scraping of the data by third parties or displaying of that data on any other web site or smart device. Reason able efforts shall include, but not limited to: Monitoring the web site or smart devices for signs that a third party is scraping data, and Prominently posting notice that any use of search facilities of data on the site, other than by a consumer looking to purchase real estate, is prohibited. h) If a DRMLSX suspects scraping of the data has occurred, the suspicion and any evidence must be reported to the GEMLS immediately for investigation and action. i) DRMLSX must make changes to an Internet site necessary to cure a violation of the IDX rules within five business days of notice from the GEMLS of the violation.

4 IDX INFORMATIONAL PACKET PAGE 4 j) No portion of the IDX database shall be used or provided to a third party for any purpose. k) No portion of the IDX database shall be co-mingled with any non-mls listings on the DRMLSX web site or smart device. l) Any DRMLSX using a third party to develop/design a web site or smart device will have a written agreement with that third party in the form prescribed by the GEMLS. 7. Using Rapattoni s Smart Framing as Technical Solution for IDX IDX Smart Framing The IDX smart framing option lets DRMLSX frame a public-view search of MLS listings right in their offices web site. Setting up an IDX search is simple: the broker copies a hyperlink, then pastes it to a button or link in his/her own web site labeled something like Search for Properties. When someone from the public clicks this link, a search form displays within the broker s web site. The form offers criteria fields specified by the MLS as public-searchable. The broker can customize the search form by removing or reordering fields, and by changing the colors to blend in with the site. Search results display real-time listing data, showing only the information designated as publicviewable. Reciprocal listings (those belonging to DRMLSX) display an IDX logo and will identify the name of the listing broker/agent with the heading Courtesy of... ; however, contact information is given only for the DRMLSX hosting the Web site. Listings belonging to the hosting DRMLSX contain active links to that broker s information. 8. Salespersons (Subscribers) can also participate. Salespersons may also be able to set up IDX smart-framed searches on their own web sites. If your broker is an DRMLSX and approves your request to participate, you will then complete the appropriate form, have the broker sign, and submit to the GEMLS office. The broker may then turn on this feature for an individual agent by going to his/her Office Menu and choosing Manage IDX Access. Once the broker has done this, you can set up your own web site or smart device search. Salesperson who participate must follow the same rules as the DRMLSX. 9. Can those without a web site participate? Yes, if you opt in to IDX by virtue of completing and submitted the application included in this packet, your listings from MLS will be eligible for showing on the web sites or smart devices of others participating in IDX, even though you may not currently have a web site or smart device.

5 IDX INFORMATIONAL PACKET PAGE How can I set up an IDX search on my Web site? Complete application and submit to the GEMLS, Inc. GEMLS will make the appropriate change to your access rights in the MLS. To set up an IDX smart-framed search For DRMLSX: From the Home page choose Admin, then select Office Menu. Locate the Hyperlink for IDX framed solution in Public Access Links. Use your mouse to highlight the red text, then choose Edit, Copy. (Note: If it does not display, check with your MLS board staff to see if IDX is available.) Paste this hyperlink text into an message to your Webmaster, or directly into your Web site. Attach the hyperlink to a button, graphic or link labeled Search for Properties or whatever you choose. For MLS Subscribers (Salespersons): Complete application and submit to the GEMLS, Inc. From the Home page choose Admin, then select Public Access Links. Locate the Hyperlink for IDX framed solution near the bottom of the page. Use your mouse to highlight the red text, then choose Edit, Copy. (Note: If it does not display, check with your broker to authorize this feature for an individual salesperson.) Paste this hyperlink text into an message to your Webmaster, or directly into your Web site. Attach the hyperlink to a button, graphic or link labeled Search for Properties or whatever you choose.

6 IDX INFORMATIONAL PACKET PAGE How can I customize my IDX search? You set up on your Web site. You can remove or reorder the criteria fields, or change the colors to make the form blend in better with your site. To customize your IDX search For DRMLSX: From the Home page choose Admin, then select IDX Search Setup. For Salesperson: From the Home page choose Admin, then select IDX Search Setup. (Note: This is only available if your broker is DRMLSX and has authorized this feature. Click the Check All button to display the default order of the criteria fields. If you want to remove a field, click in its On/Off box to uncheck it. If you want to reorder fields, change their Display Order number. Fields will display on your IDX search in ascending order, with the lowest numbered field at the top. To change the colors, select the appropriate color from the pull-down fields at the bottom of the IDX Search Preferences form. (TIP: Click View Color Choices to see all available colors.) Click Submit. Your changes are immediately active on your Web site s IDX search. (Note: You may need to refresh your browser to view the changes.) 12. Other technical avenues for DRMLSX. Rapattoni offers a RETS solution for those that do not wish to use the Smart Framing solution to develop their own search and result screens. Naturally, those using this method will still need to adhere to all of the IDX rules. (One Time Setup Fee of $250 and a Yearly Fee of $250) 13. Property Types All property types in the MLS will be eligible for IDX. 14. Exempting Specific Listings If a property owner does not wish their property viewable on the Internet, that should be designated in the listing contract and designated on the listing load screen. 15. Showing Property If a property owner does not wish the address of the property viewable on the Internet, that should be designated in the listing contract and designated on the listing load screen. 16. Vendor and its employees understand that the sole reason for coming into contact with this copyrighted and proprietary information is to allow them to configure, install, or otherwise service above named broker and that they will make no use of this information except for the stated purposes in this agreement. In the event they become aware of any confidential and/or proprietary information, they will not retain, nor make any use of other than for the purpose enumerated above, unless specifically authorized to do so. 4. Vendor understands that from time to time the Golden Empire MLS, Inc. makes changes that may impact the software or programs developed for Broker. The Golden Empire MLS, Inc. endeavors to notify its customers through a general notice of proposed changes prior to implementation, however, the GEMLS does not guarantee that advance notice is received.
