Byrd Institute for Advanced Flexible Manufacturing (RCBI). Please note that the RCBI Machinist Technology/CNC Program is not an open enrollment program. An entrance assessment is administered and evaluated to determine an applicant s eligibility to enroll in the program. Please use the check-off sheet as you gather information or complete a task that is requested for consideration in the program. Complete the RCBI application in full. If any of the information requested on the application does not apply to you, fill in the blank with NA (Not Applicable). Read the fact sheet carefully. It explains: National Institute for Metalworking Skills Credentialing. Hours required for Associate of Applied Science Degree. Approximate cost of the program per semester. The length of the program. Contact Information. All applicants are required to submit their high school transcripts, college transcripts and attendance records. In addition applicants are required to take an entrance assessment and interview with RCBI staff. Byrd Institute for Advanced Flexible Manufacturing Machinist Technology/CNC Program Huntington, West Virginia & Bridgeport, West Virginia The RCBI Machinist Technology/CNC Program Prepares individuals for nationally certified, entry-level machinist using conventional and computer-controlled equipment positions immediately upon completion and the opportunity to advance personal careers and job opportunities by enhancing their skill sets. Is available to all individuals, employed individuals, veterans and dislocated workers. Is designed in accordance with standards and workforce practices of the manufacturing industry as well as national standards established by the National Institute for Metalworking Skills, Inc. (NIMS). The RCBI program offers Technical courses including metalworking theory, blueprint reading, mathematics, communication and organizational skills, safety, precision measurements and introductory computer-numerical-control (CNC) machining. Specialized training in a hands-on laboratory setting that allows individuals to become skilled operators of production equipment commonly found in a basic machine shop. Preparation for earning credentials from NIMS. An opportunity to earn an Associate Degree. You must be admitted to Mountwest Community & Technical College (MCTC) to be eligible for the Associate Degree option. Sixty (60) credit hours will be awarded by the MCTC for all the RCBI metalworking courses, up to ten (10) NIMS credentials and the required general education classes. RCBI program facts Participants are afforded the opportunity to earn national certifications/ credentials from NIMS. RCBI has designed and equipped state-of-the-industry classrooms and shop-floor labs for individuals enrolled in the program. RCBI has a staff of experienced machinists to teach machining skills and supervise the hands-on laboratory set up in a shop-floor environment. Class sizes are kept small, affording each student individual attention and meaningful interaction with our experienced instructors. The length of the program is four semesters. Program cost is based on tuition rates and lab fees established by the MCTC. Financial assistance may be available through the MCTC for those who qualify. Class hours and shop training occur Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Times are subject to change. An orientation session will be scheduled for individuals considered for the program. Classes are conducted at RCBI Advanced Manufacturing Technology Centers in Huntington at 1050 Fourth Avenue and in Bridgeport at 2400 East Benedum Industrial Drive.
