1 Master of Science in Accountancy PROGRAM AND COURSES The Master of Science in Accountancy (MSA) degree at Wheeling Jesuit University is designed for undergraduate accounting majors who wish to pursue an advanced degree in the field. Accredited by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), the MSA program develops students into highly trained tax professionals and prepares them to sit for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) examination. The Program The MSA Program at Wheeling Jesuit University consists of two components: the Core Courses and Elective Courses. Each class is three (3) credit hours and meets once a week in the evening, Monday through Thursday (two times per week during the shorter summer sessions). Courses are offered in the fall, spring, and summer semesters. We publish a schedule of classes for each semester. The Core Courses These are the backbone of the MSA program. They provide in-depth study of the various aspects of accounting, as well as related topics necessary in accounting today. Please note the course numbers are for identification purposes only and are not the sequence in which they are taken. We offer a variety of electives on a rotating basis. Many students choose to specialize their degree by choosing electives that are of particular interest to them. 2 MBA and MSA Programs ELIGIBILITY & ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS Applicants will be evaluated by the Graduate Admissions Committee according to the following criteria: cumulative undergraduate average + Credit for professional work experience + Students whose native language is not English are required to score at least 600 on the TOEFL exam. + Three (3) letters of recommendation from former professors, employers, etc. Upon evaluation by the Graduate Admissions Committee, the applicant will be notified as to the status of the application and whether or not a personal interview is needed. Students may be admitted in one of the following categories: 1. Full Admittance Students who meet all the qualifications listed above. 2. Special Admittance Students who are interested solely in specific courses for personal development. Normally, no more than twelve (12) credit hours may be taken by a special admittance student. Application Procedure Complete applications consist of the following items which are to be sent directly to the Office for Professional and Graduate Studies: 1. Application form for graduate program 2. All official college transcripts 3. Score on the TOEFL exam from Educational Testing Service (if applicable) 4. Employer certification and recommendation (if applicable) 5. Three (3) letters of recommendation 7. Current resume

3 MSA Program TUITION AND FEES Adult New Student Fee Technology/Service Fee Graduate Tuition Fee ID Card Graduation Fee Parking Fee $130 one time fee $130/ semester $625/ credit $35 one time fee $265 one time fee $80 / semester Policy for Tuition Assistance and Reimbursement Plans Any student who has tuition assistance or reimbursement from their employer may qualify for deferred tuition payments. Students must submit to the Center for Professional and Graduate Studies office a copy of their company s tuition assistance policy. This copy will be placed in the student s file and a duplicate will be sent to the business office. If it is already on file, you do not need to send it again. If a student has 100% tuition assistance, then the student may wait to make payment until the semester is completed and grades are submitted to the employer to release the tuition funding. Payment from the student to WJU is required in a timely manner. If the account balance is not paid by the end of the next semester, the student will not be permitted to enroll until the account is cleared. If a student has less than 100% tuition assistance, the amount that is not funded by the employer is due from the student to WJU by the first night of class. Outside payment plans from WJU and federal financial aid are available for the remaining balance of the tuition charge. For example: If a student has 75% tuition assistance, the 25% not covered by reimbursement is due by the first night of class. If a student has 50% tuition assistance, the 50% not covered by reimbursement is due by the first night of class. Each semester when you receive your first bill, write on the statement, Company reimbursement through (company name) and send the statement back. The business office will check to see if your reimbursement policy is on file. If it is not, they will request a new copy from you. Remember, if you do not have 100% tuition assistance, you will need to make your payment of the difference by the first night of class or make arrangements through the payment plans or federal financial aid.
