2 Proficiency Testing Program Gold Ore 201 Schedule 2 INTRODUCTION Globalization and the continued global technological advances have required products and services increasingly specialized, with guaranteed quality, reliability, prompt delivery and affordable prices that keep a satisfactory relationship between cost and benefit. Created in 2008 by a team of highly skilled professionals in the fields of mining, metallurgy, Environment and Quality Control, the ITAK - Institute of Technology August Kekule currently operates in various segments of the national and international market through the Manufacturing and Salling of Certified Reference Materials (Standards), Organization and Coordination of Proficiency Testing Programs, Consulting and Quality Audits. To act as administrative and financial headquarters of the services offered by the ITAK, was established in 2010 the BS Technology Ltda setting the ITAK Group formed by the two companies. The ITAK Group works with the best market practices and tools through an Integrated Management System based on the following the ISO standards and guidelines: ISO 9001: - Quality Management Systems. ISO / IEC 17043: Conformity Assessment - General Requirements for Proficiency Testing. ISO / GUIDE 34: General Requirements for the Reference Material Producers Competence. The ITAK is recognized by EPTIS (European Proficiency Testing Information System) as Proficiency Testing Program Provider developing, organizing and leading PTPs for various matrices including Gold ore, Copper ore and Concentrate, Iron ore, Nickel ore, Bauxite, Iron-Niobium Alloy, Water and Solutions (Environmental Analysis) and other on demand. The ITAK Group is provider of high technology in services of its competence, in producing of geochemical Certified Reference Materials (CRM s) of any mineral or synthetic matrix and also salling MRC's of various matrices such as Gold, Iron, Nickel, Copper, Tin, Niobium, Bauxite, Limestone, Phosphate, Clay, Magnesite, Chromite and others. 3 Proficiency Testing Program Gold Ore 201 Schedule 3 INTERNATIONAL GEOCHEM PROFICIENCY TESTING PROGRAM The ITAK has emerged as one of the most important Proficiency Testing Program providers for various matrices and materials, assisting its clients in the continuous improvement of its performance in carrying out chemical analysis worldwide. Continuing this important work, the ITAK will promote in 201, eight (8) rounds of Proficiency Testing Program for Gold Ore, and invites the laboratories of this segment to join the group of participants. PARTICIPATION PROPOSAL AND BENEFITS In addition to representing an impartial tool of assessment laboratory performance, participation in round robin programs brings several specific benefits, such as: Adherence to one of the requirements of ISO / IEC for companies seeking or already possess the Accreditation on this ISO standard or other quality systems; Increased metrological reliability of the results obtained by the laboratory from their levels of precision and accuracy; Comparison with other industry laboratories and finding improvement opportunities to raise the level of performance (benchmarking); Opportunity of evaluation and comparison of methodologies seeking one that best suits the level of accuracy required for specific parameters and levels; Knowledge of the type of the deviations that may be comitted by the laboratory (systematic or random) directing actions in eliminating / minimizing them; Monitoring of calibration equipment and needs adjustments or upgrades; Identify staff training needs; and / or normalization or improvement of analytical methods. SAMPLE PREPARATION FOR THE PROFICIENCY TESTING PROGRAM The samples used in this Proficiency Testing Program are reference materials produced by the ITAK in accordance with ISO quality protocols (ISO Guide Series 30-35). Such traceable Reference Materials, have its homogeneity proved through statistical techniques of Normality Assessment and Analysis of Variance, and these results are expressed in internal ITAK reports. Because they are natural matrices processed only physically, Reference Material used have guaranteed stability over time and for the duration of the program, as are packed avoiding contact with atmospheric air and contact with light. Furthermore, the stability of the reference materials is monitored over time, as internal ITAK procedure. The samples will be properly identified with labels containing information such as proficiency testing name, sample identification and tests to be performed. CONFIDENTIALITY According to a confidentiality protocol adopted by the ITAK, the labs are identified by specific numerical codes, and the participant knowledge and access only to their own code, avoiding collusion among participants, which in case of occurrence or suspicion of occurrence, it will be properly investigated and handled by the program coordination team.
4 Proficiency Testing Program Gold Ore 201 Schedule 4 The performance comments described in the final reports are also confidential and are intended to provide important information to responsible for laboratories, so that they have a thorough evaluation of the quality aspects of their analysis and know where to act effectively to correct possible deviations. The experimental results obtained by the Participant Laboratory or even their performance in the Proficiency Testing may be disclosed to third parties with the consent of the Participant Laboratory. STATISTICAL TREATMENT The results obtained by the participants of the Proficiency Program are evaluated according to methodologies and statistical tools referenced by the ISO standards ISO 13528: - Statistical Methods for use in Proficiency Testing by Interlaboratory Comparisons and ISO : Accuracy (trueness and precision) of measurement methods and results - Part 2: Basic method for the determination of repeatability and reproducibility of a standard measurement method. The Performance Evaluation involves the following steps: Evaluation and Outliers treatment through: Grubbs test, Cochran test and Mandell Statistics h and k. Determination of the Assigned Value for the parameters analyzed in the testing items preferably using the calculation according to the A algorithm of the Annex C of ISO 13528: - Statistical methods for use in proficiency testing by interlaboratory comparisons. Accuracy Assessment through the Z-Score techniques, Youden Ellipse, and the other provisions in the Reference standards. Precision Assessment through ranking based on Mandell Statistic k in accordance with ISO According to the results for accuracy assessments, the participating laboratory can be classified as proficient (satisfactory performance) for the analysis of a specific parameter, or not proficient if its performance is unsatisfactory or questionable. Each used statistical technique has its limited and conditioned use the number of participants who reported numerically valid results and approved in the Evaluation and Treatment Outliers. Statistical evaluation via Confidence Ellipse (Youden) is performed only for parameters that show numerically valid results of at least seven laboratories. Statistical evaluation via Z-Score is performed only for parameters that show numerically valid results from at least three laboratories. Statistical evaluation of precision through Mandell Statistic k is performed only for parameters that show numerically valid results from at least three laboratories. Other provisions in the technical reference standards can be used in compliance with the statistical limits of applicability. The Assigned Value of this Proficiency Testing will be achieved through the consensus of the participating laboratories in the proficiency test. This value is calculated using the A algorithm of the Annex C of ISO 13528: - Statistical methods for use in proficiency testing by interlaboratory
5 Proficiency Testing Program Gold Ore 201 Schedule 5 comparisons. This algorithm uses robust statistics that is less susceptible to interference from spurious and extreme values. The Robust Standard Deviation is obtained through the algorithm of Annex C of ISO 13528: - Statistical methods for use in proficiency testing by interlaboratory comparisons. Tests to check different populations divided by different analytical methods will be used and if it is proven that there are differences between the methods, resulting in two or more distinct populations, the statistical analysis will be done respecting the existing populations (different methods). SAMPLES AND ANALYSES For the year 201, the ITAK will promote eight (08) rounds of Proficiency Testing Program for Gold Ore, each round consisting of 10 samples referring to two reference materials of different concentration (5 samples each) being evaluating the analysis of the element gold (Au). To the participating laboratory is required to undertake one (1) independent determination in each sample, preferably in five (05) different days, analyzing a couple a day, employing one or more validated analytical methods. The methods used should be reported with the results. The samples must be analyzed as ordinary routine samples of the laboratory, without any special treatment. For each round, the ITAK will send ten (10) sachets containing 0 g each, 5 sachets with samples of the first Reference Material and 5 sachets of the second Reference Material. The samples will be sent by the ITAK from the city of João Monlevade / MG, under the guidance of the Participant Laboratory, using appropriate and viable type of transportation. In case of loss or damage to any item test, the ITAK will evaluate the possibility of replacement of the same, which will depend on the types of transportation and delivery time so as not to compromise the program schedule. Together with the samples also follow instructions directing participant Laboratory on how to report the analytical results. ANALYTICAL METHODS The Participant Laboratory of the Proficiency Testing Program in Gold Ore should use its routine procedure in Gold analysis (Au). The ITAK suggests using the Fire Assay method / Atomic Absorption for determination of gold, however the participating laboratory can use alternative methods provided that they are properly validated.
