ABOUT SOUTH SHORE SELECT Our primary goal is to develop players in a challenging and enjoyable environment. We hope that each player can take their love of the game with them and always strive to reach their greatest potential. Select is proud of all its players, many of whom have achieved academic and playing excellence professionally and collegiately. Our teams have competed at the National Championships the past two years, and our teams have had great success at major events and tournaments across the United States. As South Shore Select Academy is affiliated with the South Shore Indoor Sports Center in Hingham, there are plenty of opportunities to train and play in the winter months when most clubs are at a standstill. In addition, practices are rarely cancelled due to bad weather in the fall and spring, thanks to our partnership with the indoor facility. OUR PHILOSOPHY Our goal is to develop strong, confident and well-rounded young women. We hope to make our girls the best players they can be, while maintaining their love and passion for the game of soccer. We strive to make each player a better individual off the field as well, by teaching them a sense of community and social responsibility. We believe it takes more than impeccable training to create a champion. We strive to provide an atmosphere where your daughter s passion is supported, fostered and celebrated. We want them to remember their time on the soccer field as a positive, competitive and heartfelt experience that prepared them for their future endeavors. OUR VALUES COACHING STAFF o Integrity o Respect o Family o Dedication o Passion o Communication: Honest & Open 3

BIRTH YEAR: NEW AGE GROUPING US Youth Soccer is implementing a new birth year mandate that takes effect next fall. Simply stated, kids will now be grouped with all players born in the same calendar year. Below is the new birth year chart for next fall: BIRTH YEAR NEXT YEAR S PLAYING GROUP 2011 Under Under Under Under Under 10 As a club, we will be implementing the new birth year requirements shown above. We are also happy to answer any specific questions you may have regarding how this may affect your child next year. 5
U10 PROGRAM OVERALL STRUCTURE We believe in an academy style program at this level. We focus on the individual player and consistently monitor their development so we can place them at the correct levels as they grow within our club. Players at this level will play on various teams throughout the year and work with different players and coaches to allow for a full-range of development. We believe in this approach and feel it is why our club is one of the best in the country at developing young talent. We have one Elite Level team at the U10 age group. Some of our Elite teams are ranked among the top teams in the country. There is a high level of commitment and dedication required for players chosen for an Elite team. Girls playing within our U10 Academy are some of our more advanced players. In addition to playing in leagues, players at this level will also be invited to play in some tournaments throughout the year. Girls playing within our U10 Pre-Academy are developing the technical skills and decision making necessary for long-term success. Our Developmental program is designed for our younger players. The primary focus is creating the foundational skills of the game of soccer in a fun and safe environment. 6
U9 - U10 PLAYERS Birth Years 2007 and younger We strive to create skillful, passionate young players in our U10 Academy Program. We offer various playing levels in our Academy and we consistently monitor player development to ensure they are playing with an appropriate pool of players and are being challenged in every session. The overall focus within our U10 Academy is the development of technically sound, creative and confident players. Tactics are introduced at this level, but remain a secondary focus. We strive to create this goal in an enjoyable and safe environment. Players will not be assigned individual coaches at this age and instead will play under the direction of an Academy Staff. We believe exposing our kids to various coaching styles, techniques and personalities is a great way to enhance player development and allows our players to feel part of our larger Select Family. We have four playing levels within our Academy and players will be continually monitored to ensure they are playing at the appropriate level. Our staff will move players to different playing groups when we feel it is appropriate and beneficial to the player. The four levels are as follows: Elite Level Academy Level Pre-Academy Level (The majority of our players play at this level) Developmental Level Commitment Level: The commitment level for any player that makes a U10 Pre-Academy or Academy team is two practices per week (Monday & Wednesday) and Sunday games in the fall and spring. There are however, plenty of other opportunities available for players at this level who desire more training throughout the year. Indoor leagues, clinics, camps, optional trainings and private lessons are great options for players looking to improve their game. 7
DEVELOPMENTAL / TRAIN-ONLY PROGRAM U5 U9 PLAYERS Birth Years 2009 and younger Our Developmental / Train-Only Program is designed for our younger players. The primary focus at this level is developing the foundational skills of the game of soccer in a fun and safe environment. We hope our girls develop a passion for the game while consistently increasing their first touch and dribbling techniques. We believe ball mastery far outweighs anything else at this age and we hope to provide all of our kids the essential skills necessary to move forward within our U10 Academy Program. This program is a great introduction to club soccer and allows you to experience what Select has to offer. Commitment Level: Our Developmental / Train-Only Program follows the same training schedule as the rest of our U10 and Under Program (Mondays and Wednesdays). At this level, all training is optional and we do not compete in Club Leagues. Developmental / Train-Only players do have the option of playing in our winter indoor leagues. 8

For those who just can t stay away, we offer enough clinics and indoor leagues to keep you sweaty and smiling even in January. You must love the game and want to share with the players a certain way of life, a way of seeing football. - Aresene Wenger, Arsenal Football Club Manager 11
TOURNAMENTS Throughout the year, Select players will be invited to participate in indoor/outdoor tournaments. Please note that selections are based on a variety of factors and will be at the sole discretion of the staff. As in the past, many of the tournaments will be open to all players, while others will be limited to specific players. Kindly note, that only players selected to participate will be specifically notified. 12
THE SELECT DIFFERENCE South Shore Select is proud of all the soccer experiences we offer our players on the field. However, an equally important aspect of our club is the culture created with all of our off the field activities. Our players have the chance to grow and bond as a soccer family within our enrichment programs, our classroom sessions, and our annual parties. We call this the Select Difference and we hope you take the opportunity to join us this year and experience all that we have to offer. I am really just so grateful to be part of Select and have you both as my coaches. I might not realize the incredible influence you have on me day to day but, when I step back and take a look at who I am and where I am going, you two have played a major role in that. I don t know where I would be without you and my Select family. So thank you for contributing so much to my life today and hopefully bright future. Forever Your Player Thank you for setting high expectations and standards for the girls, for being a great role model in the way you live and treat others, and for caring enough about them to get involved when you see fit. I sincerely appreciate your influence on Kelly. Proud Select Parent 13
