SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM SIGTUNA MUNICIPALITY (Extract from Future schools in Sigtuna Municipality a School Developing program for Sigtuna municipality)
Sigtuna kommun
School development program Foreword The school development program sets up goals and tools to make Sigtuna Municipality one of Sweden's best educational communities by The program was decided through cooperation from all political parties and based on research from other municipalities. To help our schools become even better, three areas are focal points for improvements: 1. knowledge 2. security, influence and participation 3. employer policies
Vision for future schools in Sigtuna Municipality All students will be given stimulating opportunities to meet or exceed the expected goals in all subjects, through high expectations and individually adapted possibilities. All students shall participate, take responsibility for and be given opportunities to use their rights to influence their own education. All co-workers within the schools will have good opportunities for developing, participating and influencing the development of the schools. Everyone will be happy and feel good.
School development program School Developing Program Knowledge All students will receive help in reaching or exceeding goals in all subjects. Alla elever ska få hjälp att nå sina kunskapsmål i alla ämnen, eller till High expectations put on students, teachers and administration gives better results Goals for academic requirements must be clear. Schools will talk to students and parents so they are aware of these goals and requirements. Schools will record student results and inform students and parents how these results compare to the goals. Every student will have a progression plan. Each student will be educated within his/her learning needs, speed and motivational level. If a student needs extra support it will be given primarily in the classroom since it is important to be together with classmates. Early language skills are important and are a primary focus. Students with another mother tongue than Swedish will be offered language development classes for their mother tongue. Multilingual students are en access to society and our schools. Schools should encourage students to higher education Learning should be fun. Schools need to have clear demands and rules that are followed. Curiosity and creativity make it easier to reach goals. That is why we have Naturskolan, Experimentskafferiet and Kulturskolan. Entrepreneurism, meaning creativity and taking initiative are important for academic success. All schools will have modern technology. It s good if schools have specific profiles such as language, sports, arts and culture or mathematics. Sigtuna Municipality will cooperate with universities and other forms of higher education All students are guaranteed the right to have help with homework in school. All students have the right to extra help during school breaks.
School development program Security, influence and participation All students will feel good. All students have the right to influence their own learning. Schools will encourage students to participate in school. Students that are active in school have a better chance to reach the academic goals. All students have a right to support with school work. It doesn t matter if you are a girl or boy or where you come from. The classroom environment will be calm and quiet. Students will be nice to each other and learn to be a good friend. School grounds will be renovated by making them safer and more exciting. More adults will be outside during recess. There is zero-tolerance with bullying in our schools. School lunches will be good, nutritious and eaten in a calm environment School employees will eat with students. There will be a good student health unit and special education resources at every school. Resources will be distributed so that all students receive the support they need. Teacherless lessons will not exist. Employer policies Sigtuna Municipality is an attractive employer. The municipality offers good opportunities for employee influence, development and participation. A good teacher is the most important element for student success. Teachers will have opportunity to develop their competence. They will also be given opportunities to learn from each other. Opportunities for career development make it easier to hire the best teachers. Good teachers will receive good wages. Wages will be individually set. School leaders will be visible, active and pedagogical. Principals will be the key factor for improving results. The working environment will be the best. All teachers will be certified and authorized within their areas of expertise. All school employees will have a personal development plan with clear goals.
