TAMAN MENTENG JAKARTA OPTIMIZATION FUNCTION THROUGH ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION FOR BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH. Suyud Warno Utomo x, Swa Abdas Ria Rahayu xx, Haryoto Kusnoputranto t x Sw_utomo@yahoo.com x:environmental Health Department, Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Indonesia

OUTLINE Introduction & Background Materials and Methods Results Discussion Conclusion Recommendation Acknowledgment References

Introduction and Background The growth of the city that continues to rise will lead to diminishing green space area even less than 30%. Jakarta about 10 %. Many plants become rare and even extint. At this time a lot of green open space with information about the function of the plant are minimal. Necessary efforts to improve the functioning i of the park, among others, biodiversity development and environmental health

Increasing the role of green open spaces of the development of biodiversity i and environmental health through education functions of the park It is necessary for improving knowledge of plant functions to the visitors through the detailed information about the various functions of the existing plantin Taman MentengCity.

Methodology Research hlocation : Taman Menteng Jk Jakarta Center of Jakarta Identification of Individu and no of Individu vegetation Identification any information given in Taman Menteng City. For the vegetation is there any information on the type of plants, plant functions, status of the plant, origin and others. Sanitary facilities including visitor garbage, clean water and so forth.

Results Tabel 1. :. Type and No of individu at Menteng Park No Local Name Scientific Name No of Individu 1. Alpulkat Persea Americana 1 2. Asam Jawa Tamarindus indica 6 3. 8 The results showed that the presence. information Menteng Park still very minimal. Sometime Information given is just a plant name park facilities. Meanwhile visitors to Parks Menteng quite varied from children to adults.. Information is not just the type of plant, but can be developed, e for ea example: pe function for medicinal plants, absorbing air pollution, bird habitat ect.

. This information is expected to provide more knowledge for visitors especially children. hld It is hoped they can better understand the function of the park so much affection even frequent visits or even develop elsewhere. Most visitors come with the purpose of recreation and sport. Means that the more visitors will increasingly healthy society through sports. It required additional information boards relating to the role or function of existing plants

Provision of complete information about the role of the existing plant in Taman Menteng Jakarta is expected to give education to the visitors. Waste handling visitors already provided the place with color separation for plastic waste, leaf litter and food waste has been distinguished. Minimum possible pavement as much as possible in order to serve the absorption of rainwater. Garbage is often found not be disposed in place..

Menteng Park increasingly. clean, green, complete information to increase knowledge of the visitors. Increased knowledge of the vegetation is expected to encourage visitors to participate in maintaining and preserving biodiversity. Sustainable environmental hygiene, water absorption function properly can improve environmental health

Conclusion conclusion 1. Menteng Park Jakarta has been developing biodiversity but still need to be developed. Various roles are ecologis park has not been developed properly. p Suggestion 1. Need to develop species of rare plants and reserved. 2. Development of Menteng Park with various functions such asthe function of education, run off water conservation, pollution absorption and habitat

Suggestion 1. Need dto develop species of rare plants and reserved. 2. Development of Menteng Park with various functions such as the function of education, run off water conservation, pollution absorption and habitat 3. Provision of information such as the name of each type of plant species, origin, function of the plant. 4. Environmental hygiene continue to be improved
