3 DAI N T R E E AN D CAP E T R I B U LAT I O N Your day starts at 8am, leaving Port Douglas. Mossman Gorge is nestled in the World Heritage listed Daintree National Park. The Daintree rainforest contains the oldest surviving rainforest in the world and makes for a remarkable unique experience. Sample billy tea and damper for morning tea. Settle back for the very scenic drive from Port Douglas to Cape Tribulation, along the Great Barrier Reef Drive, where two World Heritage areas meet in our very comfortable seven seat Mercedes Benz. Enjoy an hour cruising the Daintree River with a renowned operator whos knowledge of local fauna and flaura and of course crocodiles is unsurpassed. We cross the river on the Daintree car ferry, then up to the Alexandria Look Out, where we see the breath taking view of where the rainforest truly meets the mighty Great Barrier Reef. A catered tropical BBQ lunch, as well as local in season fruits, and refreshments at the most beautiful, secluded, absolutely private waterhole, where we can also swim in the crystal clear water. Continue our drive up to Cape Tribulation itself for a leisurely stroll along the rainforest bordered white sandy beach, where you can witness two World Heritage listed sites side by side in perfect harmony. Enjoy a hot beverage and afternoon tea at the Cape Trib Beach House. Last of all a stop at the Daintree Ice-Cream Factory for their most delicious ice-cream, made from local tropical fruits of the forest. Then its home sweet home - approx 5.30pm. 4 AT H E R T O N TAB LE LAN D S Start your day 7.30am, leaving Port Douglas. First stop is Mareeba Tropical Savanna and Wetland Reserve - Jabiru Safari Lodge. Set on 2000ha of open savanna woodland, grassland and freshwater wetlands, it offers a chance to discover over 200 species of rare and beautiful birdlife. Wildlife, includes kangaroos, wallabies, emus, quolls and frilled necked lizards. A half hour Lagoon Eco-Cruise and morning tea is included. Enjoy your tailored Great Tropical Drive in our very comfortable seven seat Mercedes Benz to The Crater and Dinner Falls at Mt Hypipamee National Park. Walk to The Crater, then follow the well constructed path to the Dinner Falls, whilst looking for often sighted cassowaries and tree kangaroos. A few minutes up the road we visit the picturesque Millaa Millaa Falls an icon of the area and part of the Queensland Heritage Listed Waterfall circuit. The falls are 18.3 metres high with a pool suitable for swimming at their base. Lunch and refreshments are provided, then we continue our journey on to the Australian Platypus Park, home to a thriving platypus population which can be found in a spring fed pond surrounded by lush tropical vegetation. Onward to Lake Eacham, a famous crater lake with pristine blue water, surrounded by upland tropical rainforest and perfect for swimming. Our tour wouldn t be complete without a visit to the Curtain Fig National Park. Gaze in awe at this 500 year old 50m tall wonder, a strangler fig with a curtain vertical roots that once embraced its long-gone host tree. Walk around the boardwalk to view the tree from different angles and capture some fabulous photographs of the root curtain. One last stop for coffee and afternoon tea.
