3 SR806 Live Sound Mixer IMPORTANT WARNINGS & SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS 1. Read these instructions 2. Follow all instructions 3. Keep these instructions 4. Heed all warnings 5. Do not use this apparatus near water 6. Clean only with dry cloth. 7. Do not block any ventilation openings. Install in accordance with the manufacturer s instructions. 8. Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat. 9. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarised or grounding plug. A polarised plug has two blades with one wider than the other. A grounding plug has two blades and a third grounding prong. The wide blade or the third prong is provided for your safety. If the provided plug does not fit into your outlet, consult an electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet. 10. Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched particularly at the plugs, convenience receptacles, and at the point where they exit from the apparatus. 11. Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer. 12. Use only with a cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table specified by the manufacturer, or sold with the apparatus. When a cart or rack is used, use caution when moving the cart and apparatus combination to avoid injury from tip-over. 13. Unplug the apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time. 14. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel. Servicing is required when the apparatus has been damaged in any way including but not limited to power supply cord or plug damage, liquid ingress, foreign objects in the chassis, exposure to rain/moisture or impact damage. In addition the unit must be serviced when you experience any abnormal operation. 15. CAUTION: These servicing instructions are for use by qualified service personnel only. To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not attempt to perform any servicing other than that contained in the operating instructions unless you are qualified to do so. In addition opening the casing will result in your warranty becoming null and void. 16. Do not install this apparatus in a confined space such as a book case or similar unit. Good ventilation should be maintained around the apparatus and any vents, air-inlets or fans should not be obstructed by objects such as paper, table-cloths, curtains etc. 17. WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not expose the apparatus to rain or moisture. The apparatus should not be exposed to dripping or splashing and objects filled with liquids, such as vases, should not be placed on the apparatus. 18. WARNING: The mains plug is used as disconnect device, the disconnect device shall remain readily operable. 2

5 SR806 Live Sound Mixer INTRODUCTION The Wharfedale SR806 Mixer is the result of many years of experience in the use, design and manufacturing of professional sound reinforcement products. We take great pride in engineering and building every Wharfedale Pro product and wish to thank you for entrusting us with your sound. From the time Gilbert Briggs built his first loudspeaker in 1932, to the present, Wharfedale Professional products have maintained the same standard of quality in components, workmanship and performance. Please take a few minutes to read this manual completely in order to ensure that you get the most out of your SR806 Mixer. SR806 MIXER OVERVIEW: The SR806 is a 16 channel studio/live mixing console designed to suit the widest range of applications. The internally balanced architecture ensures the lowest possible levels of noise and crosstalk, every internal connection after the channel EQ stage is impedance balanced. Comprehensive features that suit the SR806 to live sound use include PFL or AFL on every destination, 4 stage metering on every channel and 100mm long throw faders. The sturdy steel chassis with rubberized handles on the sides ensure that the SR806 is road tough and will last for many years. The high quality microphone preamps, flat frequency response and musical sounding EQ also suit the SR806 to home studio use. ABOUT THE SR806 MIXER The SR806 is a high quality internally impedance balanced mixer that is designed to provide the best sound and features in a compact package. Its transparent and accurate sound suit it to both live and studio use. 4

8 OPERATING MANUAL MONO CHANNELS WALK THROUGH 1. Balanced XLR connector for microphones. 2. Pad - reduces the input by 25dB. Use this when the input is overloaded by high output sources. 3. Line input - ¼ balanced/unbalanced TRS input for line level sources. 4. Insert point - ¼ TRS jack with tip input and ring output. Allows you to place external signal processors such as compressors and gates between the microphone preamp and the EQ stage. 5. HPF - 75Hz 24dB/oct high pass filter to remove unwanted low frequency content. 6. Peak indicator - illuminates when the input signal is too high. 7. Gain control - allows you to match the input sensitivity of the channel to your source. Line level inputs range from -13dB to +25dB. Microphone inputs range from 12dB to 60dB. 8. EQ - High band gain - a shelving filter centered at 12kHz, +/-15dB of gain. 9. EQ - Mid frequency - controls the centre frequency of the Mid band, ranges from 300Hz to 6kHz. 10. EQ - Mid band gain - +/-15dB of gain for the mid band. 11. EQ - Low band gain - a shelving filter centered at 80Hz, +/-15dB of gain. 12. Sub/Aux - sends signal to the Sub/Aux buss, a pre-fade send 13. Mon 1 - a post-fade auxiliary send for foldback/monitor mixes 14. Mon 2 - a post-fade auxiliary send for foldback/monitor mixes 15. FX 1 - sends signal to the internal FX 1 processor 16. FX 2 - sends signal to the internal FX 2 processor 17. Pan - allows spatial placement, with a centre detent for equal balance between left and right. 18. Mute button - toggles the channel on or off. The status LED will illuminate red when the channel is muted. 19. Channel fader - sets the level of signal that is sent to the groups or master buss. 20. Channel metering - displays the signal level, avoid illuminating the peak LED for extended periods! 21. Group 1/2 select button - when depressed sends signal to buss 1/2 22. Group 3/4 select button - when depressed sends signal to buss 3/4 23. Master buss select - when depressed sends signal directly to the master buss 24. PFL - Pre Fader Listen, allows you to monitor the signal before the fader stage and set the gain levels correctly. the green status LED will illuminate when PFL is active

9 SR806 Live Sound Mixer STEREO CHANNELS 1. Left/Mono input - use this ¼ TRS input to connect a mono line level device or the left output of a stereo line level device. 2. Right input - use this ¼ TRS input to connect the right output of a stereo line level device. 3. Peak indicator - illuminates when the input signal is too high. 4. Gain control - allows you to match the input sensitivity of the channel to your source. Ranges from -13dB to +25dB. 5. EQ - High band gain - a shelving filter centered at 12kHz, +/-15dB of gain. 6. EQ - High Mid band gain - a peak filter centered at 2kHz, +/-15dB of gain. 7. EQ - Low Mid band gain - a peak filter centered at 400Hz, +/-15dB of gain. 8. EQ - Low band gain - a shelving filter centered at 80Hz, +/-15dB of gain. 9. Sub/Aux - sends signal to the Sub/Aux buss, a pre-fade send 10. 10 OPERATING MANUAL OUTPUT SECTION 1. Group Outputs - individual line level outputs for each of the group busses. 2. Line In - stereo input for consumer devices such as CD players. 3. Lamp - for connecting a standard 12v BNC gooseneck lamp. 4. Sub/Aux output - direct output for the Sub/Aux buss. The LPF can be set at 80Hz or 120Hz or bypassed. This can be used to feed subwoofers or as an additional auxiliary buss. 5. Main Outputs - the main mix outputs. Balanced XLR and balanced/unbalanced ¼ TRS connectors are simultaneously available. Used to supply signal to your main amplifiers/speakers. 6. Mon 1 - Mon 1 buss output, for stage monitors or headphone amps. 7. Mon 2 - Mon 2 buss output, for stage monitors or headphone amps. 8. FX 1 - FX 1 buss output 9. FX 2 - FX 2 buss output 10. FX Bypass - footswitch input, used to bypass the internal FX processing. 11. Phones - headphone level stereo ¼ TRS output with volume control. 12. LPF - lowpass filter for the Sub/Aux buss. The On/Off switch activates the filter and the Freq switch toggles the crossover point from 80Hz to 120Hz. 13. Sub/Aux - controls the level of the Sub/Aux output, AFL allows you to monitor the output in isolation. 14. Mon 1 - controls the level of the Mon 1 output, AFL allows you to monitor the output in isolation. 15. Mon 2 - controls the level of the Mon 2 output, AFL allows you to monitor the output in isolation. 16. FX 1 - controls the level of the FX 1 output, AFL allows you to monitor the output in isolation. 17. FX 2 - controls the level of the FX 2 output, AFL allows you to monitor the output in isolation

11 SR806 Live Sound Mixer GROUP SECTION 1. FX 1 - sends signal from the group buss to the internal FX 1 processor. 2. FX 2 - sends signal from the group buss to the internal FX 2 processor. 3. Group fader - sets the overall level of the group buss MASTER SECTION phantom power status LED, indicates that +48v phantom power is being sent to the XLR inputs. 2. Power - indicates that the system is receiving AC power and is operating. 3. Master metering - 12 stage LED metering, displays the signal level present at the master buss, avoid illuminating the peak LED for extended periods! 4. Solo - indicates that one or more PFL/AFL buttons are depressed. 5. Break button - used to kill all channels and route the line level input to the master buss. 6. Master fader - Used to control the overall level of the main mix buss
