1 New Education and Training Standards Consultation Background In 2013 the Government announced big reforms to the way apprenticeships are to be designed and implemented in England. New standard-based apprenticeships, designed by employer-led Trailblazer groups, will replace current frameworks. It is anticipated that these new standard-based apprenticeships will be compulsory for all new starts in the 2017/18 Academic Year. Education and Training Apprenticeship Trailblazer Group The BIS website lists the following as being members of the Education and Training Trailblazer group led by In Touch Care Ltd: Babington College, Michaeljohn Training, Prospects Training, Vocational Training Services (VTC), University of Derby, University of Bradford, EMCETT, Hull Training and Adult Education, Bowling College, Enable, London Learning Consortium, The Education Foundation, Education and Training Foundation, Association of Employment and Learning Providers, Association of Colleges, Rolls Royce, Early Years Equality, SFJ Awards, City & Guilds, OCR, Westminster Kingsway College, Middlesbrough/Gateshead Foundation, Guildford College of Further and Higher Education, West Nottinghamshire College Group, Ten Group Norfolk, Cirencester College, Brockenhurst College, Bradford College, AeLP. This group has been leading, on behalf of the sector, the design of standards for the following trailblazer apprenticeships: Further Education Learning Mentor (Apprenticeship Level 3) Further Education Assessor-Coach (Higher Apprenticeship Level 4) Further Education Qualified Teacher (Higher Apprenticeship Level 5) Further Education Lead Teacher (Higher (or Degree) Apprenticeship (Level 6) Consultation responses were required to be submitted, via Survey Monkey, by 8 May 2015.
