5 Argentina After the trials and tribulations of the growing season, with its Zonda winds, frost and hail, the seasons was gentle and benign. There were only isolated spring frosts, no strong winds at flowering times and only minor hail damage. As in Chile the vines were able to ripen slowly and steadily without any disruptive heat waves. Although the picking started later than usual there was no sense of panic as the fruit was healthy and the weather fine. All across Argentina the producers seems to be happy with their wines. Given the relative coolness of the season it is not surprising that varietal fruit expression, crisp acidity and moderate alcohol are the defining features of the vintage. 36 Trapiche oak cask aged Malbec ~ Mendoza, Argentina 14.0% A chunky aroma of damsons and oak. Full-bodied and succulent in the mouth. Long and complex on the finish Australia Australia is the fourth largest exporter of wine in the world. Their wine is mainly produced in the Southern cooler regions of the country due to the topography and soil type. Allowing them to produce beautiful wines such as Chardonnays with hints of vanilla and oak flavours with plenty of ripe melon and peach. Shiraz was one of the first vine varieties to arrive in Australia, and no other grape can quite capture that mulberry, spicy, juicy black fruit flavours or texture. Shiraz has traditionally been blended in both cool and warm climates with Cabernet Sauvignon also with Grenache and Mourvedre in warm climates. 23. 6 USA-California The United States is the fourth largest producer of wine by volume in the world, behind France, Italy and Spain, and is the biggest New World producer. California accounts for 90% of American wine production. Most of the wine regions are between the pacific coast and Central Valley, providing cool winds and fog that balance the heat and sunshine. However California wine regions are generally seen as having a Mediterranean climate, producing medium bodied red wines such as Merlot and Pinot Noir offering fresh red fruit aromas. Also blush wines that are fresh and sweet on the palate. 41. Being the fifth largest exporter of wine in the World. Chile s climate varies from the heat of the scorched dessert to the north and the icy, Antarctic spread in the south. Midway between the two are the warm, fertile valleys that are home to this nation s vineyards. Chile s most common grapes being Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Carmenere. Offering red wines deep in colour and an exuberantly fruity nose, with aromas of berries and plums. With white wines that have a fruity character of gooseberry and honeydew melon fruit and crisp tones. 22. 7 France- Burgundy Burgundy is made up of 25,000 hectares of classified vineyard making up some of the most renowned plots of vines. The Burgundy region is in eastern France, in the valleys and slopes west of the Saone River. Burgundy is renowned for their wonderful Chardonnays bursting with fruity flavours and balanced with crisp acidity. Beaujolais although technically not regions of Burgundy, many people incorporate it with the wine region and this is where the legendary Fleurie wine is produced full of attackingly fruity flavours and silky texture. 29. 8 France-Bordeaux Bordeaux is located on the Garonne River in Southwest France. 89% of wine produced in Bordeaux is red (Claret). Renowned for its prominent aromas and flavours of spicy fruit with yielding tannin and the aptitude to age elegantly. 17. Sauternes Chateau Petit Verdines Bordeaux ~ % France (Dessert wine half bottle) A textbook example of elegant Sauternes, the sweetness perfectly balanced by the acidity France Vin de France/ Vin de Pays d Oc Since their birth almost forty years ago, Vins de Pays ( country wines ) have become popular both in France and abroad and enjoy particular success in Britain. Intended to be easy to understand and to drink, these wines represent the second rung in the ladder of French wine classification, being superior to Vin de Table but below the Appletion d Origine Controlee (AOC) and Vin Delimite de Qualite Superieure (VDQS). Although not as stringent as those for AOC, Vin de Pays wines must fulfill certain criteria: they must exclusively derive from their named area, meet precise standard under analysis, come from recommended gra[e varotoes (as per each department) and must receive a tasting accreditation. 24. 9 Italy Italy is home to some of the oldest wine producing regions in the world, grapes are grown in almost every region of the country, Italy is responsible for one-fifth of the worlds wine production. Pinot Grigio produced in Lombardy and Veneto, remains a huge sales driver in Italy, with its fresh delightful ripe aroma and crisp taste. 30. These are mainly located in free draining alluvial valleys such as Hawkes Bay, Marlborough and Canterbury producing high class Sauvignon Blanc with vibrant acidity and fruity flavours. Although New Zealands wine may only make up a fraction of the worlds wine production, they have gained recognition for there clean and green environment producing only the highest standard of wine in which other countries around the world can only aspire to do. 26. 10 Spain Spain has over 2.9 million acres of vineyards making it the most widely planted wine producing nation, however it s only the third largest producer of wine in the world. Rioja in Spain has one of the worlds most outstanding wine regions, hosting a variety of different grape varieties. Rioja is a popular full bodied red wine offering spicy black fruit flavouring and long finishes. 02. South Africa As the climate in South Africa is so diverse, conditions to grow wine are only met in the Western Cape. They have been producing wine for over 350 years. Western Cape is home to some of the most beautiful wine farms in the world, such as the renowned Bellingham winery. For many years trade embargos of he apartheid stopped all winners from exporting their wines. 11 Champagne Champagne is by far one of the most admired luxury drinks available. It s used in celebrations or simply an extravagant drink. The primary grapes used in the production of Champagne are Pinot noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier. We offer a choice of high quality Champagne such as Moet & Chandon, who are one of the largest champagne producers. We also offer Veuve Clicquot which is a brand of premium champagne founded in 1722 by Philippe Clicquot-Muiron. 03.
