3 General Information Conference Center Entry and Your PLI Badge In order to gain entry to the PLI Conference Center, you must enter through the dedicated PLI entrance on 45th Street. You will be issued a PLI security badge that should remain with you at all times while you are in the Conference Center. The badge will be required for re-entry to the building and Conference Center. Additionally, in order to receive your credits, you must sign in to the ipad located at your seat in the Conference Center. In the event that you misplace or lose your badge, please see staff at the Registration Desk for a replacement. ipads and Continuing Education Credits ipads and an instruction card with log in/log out information are located at each seat in the Conference Center. With the ipad, you will be able to: Log your attendance at the program by signing in and out Update your profile View the program schedule, faculty roster, biographies, Course Handbook and presentation materials Take notes during the presentation and save them to your PLI account at Complete and submit the program evaluation Utilize polling software (when available) Access neighborhood information Cell Phone Usage Please restrict your cell phone usage to the lounge or business center. 4 Transportation By Subway, Bus or on Foot: The PLI Center is located near many major subway lines in midtown Manhattan, including the B, D, F, M, N, R, Q, 1, 2, 3 and 7. In order to plan your visit, consider visiting for directions. Nearest subway stations/bus lines: B, D, F and Q trains: 47th and 50th Streets/Rockefeller Center. A, C, E, N, R, Q, W, 1, 2, 3 and 7 trains: 42nd Street/Times Square (Broadway and Seventh Avenue). 4, 5, 6 and 7 trains: 42nd - 45th Streets between Lexington and Madison Avenues. Convenient bus lines include the M5, M6 and M7 traveling uptown via Avenue of the Americas, the M1, M2, M3 and M4 traveling downtown via Fifth Avenue, the M6 and M7 traveling downtown via Seventh Avenue, the M42 crosstown bus, the M50 crosstown bus, and the M57 crosstown bus. From Grand Central Station: Walk west on 42nd Street for 2 ½ avenue blocks and make a right onto Avenue of the Americas. Walk three blocks north to 1177 Avenue of the Americas. The dedicated PLI entrance is around the corner on 45th Street. Alternatively, you can walk to Avenue of the Americas as directed above and take the M5, M6, or M7 bus one stop. From Penn Station: Take the 1, 2, 3, A, C or E train heading uptown and exit at 42nd Street/ Times Square. Upon exiting the station, head north three blocks to 45th Street and make a right heading east towards Avenue of the Americas. The dedicated PLI entrance is on 45th Street just before reaching Avenue of the Americas. Alternatively, you can exit Penn Station, walk east to Avenue of the Americas, and take the M5, M6 or M7 bus uptown, exiting at 45th Street. From Port Authority: Walk north on Eighth Avenue and make a right on 45th Street, then walk east to Avenue of the Americas. PLI s entrance is on the left side of 45th Street at Avenue of the Americas. New Jersey PATH: The closest PATH stop to 1177 is the 33rd Street & Sixth Avenue station. Exit the station and walk one block north to 34th and Sixth Avenue (Herald Square). Take the D train north 2 stops to 47th and 50th Streets/Rockefeller Center. Parking By Car: Hippodrome Garage: Located at 50 West 44th Street. PLI has arranged for attendees to receive a 10% discount. Parking tickets may be validated at the Conference Center registration desk. Icon Parking: $27.00 early bird special for entry between 5 a.m. and 10 a.m. (Monday - Friday), out by midnight. Located on the south side of 43rd St. between Fifth Avenue and Avenue of the Americas. Central Parking: $42.00 for ten hours. Open 6 a.m. until midnight, Monday - Friday. Located on the south side of 46th St. between Fifth Avenue and Avenue of the Americas. Airports JFK: A taxi between JFK and any Manhattan location is currently a flat fare of $52, excluding tip and tolls (subject to change). Alternatively, AirTrain JFK connects to the NYC Subway system 24 hours a day. LaGuardia: A taxi between LaGuardia and any Manhattan location is approximately $25, excluding tip and tolls. Alternatively, shuttles and private buses are also available at the airport to drive you into Manhattan. Newark: A taxi between Newark Airport and any Manhattan location is approximately $40, excluding tip and tolls. Alternatively, AirTrain Newark will connect you to the NJ Transit system, from which you can take a train into Penn Station. 4
