GARHWAL UNIVERSITY, SRINAGAR GARHWAL, UTTARAKHAND SCHEME OF PANDIT MADAN MOHAN MALVIYA NATIONAL MISSION ON TEACHERS AND TEACHING (PMMMNMTT) The Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT) is a Central Sector Scheme with All India coverage, which is envisaged to address comprehensively all issues related to teachers, teaching, teacher preparation and professional development, with the focus of dealing in a holistic manner with the whole sector of education without fragmenting the programmes based on levels and sectors as school, higher, technical etc. Faculty Development is an essential element of Institutional effectiveness. The extent to which the institution supports faculty development will be strongly reflected in the levels of engagement in learning activities, conduct of research and ultimately fulfilling the objectives and norms of the higher education. Faculty who engage in professional development experiences benefit also in terms of increased vitality, better informed in terms of development taking in various aspects of education and allied fields, innovations and scholarly learning. The role of teacher in molding the citizenry for nation building has been acknowledged from time immemorial. Need to institutionalize a system of teacher preparation with quality, competency and character, has been emphasized from time to time. In the light of recent initiatives of MHRD and to ensure better engagement of the university system in the teacher preparation, the Faculty Development Centre of the university proposes to organize an Orientation programme from 6 th February, 2017 to 4 th March, 2017, in the Academic Activity Center, Chauras Campus, Srinagar Garhwal Applications are invited on the prescribed Performa from the teachers in higher education for the participation in the programme. 5 Terms and Conditions for Attending Courses The interested candidates are advised to apply at the earliest with a registration fee of Rs. 1000/- Bank Draft (Non-refundable) drawn in favour of the Finance Officer, Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University, Srinagar Garhwal, payable at the, State Bank of India, HNBGU, Srinagar Garhwal and Branch Code No On the reverse side of the draft please write the name of the course applied for, your own name and your address. The last date for receiving application form duly filled in for the programme will be 07 days, prior to commencement of the programme. Teachers working in universities and colleges that are included under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, even though they may not yet be fit to be included under Section 12(B), may be invited to participate in the Orientation and Refresher Programmes. The teachers of colleges that do not yet come within the purview of Section 12(B), but have been affiliated to a university for at least two years, will be permitted to participate in the programmes/courses. However, they won t be paid TA/DA for attending these courses. For the Orientation Programmes, Assistant Professors who require orientation for getting a higher grade will be allowed. Attendance in Orientation programmes would be must for placement in the higher grade pay. The Orientation Programme will be of four weeks duration, with minimum of 24 working days (excluding Sundays) and 144 contact hours (six hours a day). The refresher course will be of three weeks duration, with minimum of 18 working days (excluding Sundays) and 108 contact hours (six hours a day). If a participant fails to complete the requisite contact hours in a programme, he may be permitted to make up for the backlog hours at his/her own cost in another programme by the FDC concerned. Part time/ad hoc/temporary/contract teachers who have been teaching for at least three academic sessions in institutions of higher learning, which has been affiliated to a University for at least two years, may be permitted to participate in the Orientation Programme/ Refresher Course to enhance their skills. However, they won t be paid TA/DA for attending these courses. Universities and colleges must allow interested teachers to attend FDC programs based on their eligibility. Otherwise valid reasons will have to be intimated to the teacher concerned in writing. However, in order to avoid any inconvenience due to postal delays, candidates are also advised to send the soft copies of the duly filled application form and the scanned copy of the draft through mail to peekayjay@rediffmail.com The centre will provide free boarding and lodging to the participants, therefore no payment/reimbursement on the account of DA for the period of stay at the centre is admissible.

6 The admissible expenditure on TA (3AC train/bus) will be reimbursed for the journey from the duty station/ headquarters to Srinagar and back through the shortest route or as may be fixed by the University for the Training Programme. Registration will close as soon as the seats are filled. Selected candidates will be informed by phone / by the centre. Since the seats are limited, participation will be confirmed on first come first basis. The Faculty Development Centre of Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University reserves the right to alter the terms and conditions, if required. Accommodation Boarding and Lodging arrangement are available for outstation participants in the University Academic Activity Centre, situated within the Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University, Srinagar (Chauras Campus). The rooms are available on shared basis. How to Reach Srinagar is situated 140 kms in the North-East of Haridwar Railway Station (Uttarakhand) on the track of Northern Railway. It is reached by bus via National Highway- (NH) 58 from Rishikesh, which is the last city on the plains of Uttarakhand and from where the mountains start. It is the largest town in the Garhwal Hills.
