4 Changes to Exams Exams are getting harder! All external exams to be assessed at the end of Year 11 No modular retakes, no course work Marks will be awarded for accurate spelling, punctuation and use of grammar Students may sit up to 21 external exams in summer 2018/ 2019 Maths, English, MFL, History, Geography, Computing Studies, Art, all Science courses, D&T, Music, PE and RE will be graded as 1-9 For year 9 all subjects will be awarded 1-9 Shift from 5 A*-C to progress across 8 subjects

5 Changes to Exams Broadly the same proportion will get a 4 and above as got a C and above The same proportion will achieve a grade 7 and above as currently achieve an A and above The same will achieve a grade 1 and above as currently achieve a grade G and above

6 Importance of GCSE Maths and English If a student fails to achieve a GCSE 5 (or above) they will be required to continue studying the subject post-16 This could mean up to 25 hours in a college studying!
