2 WHY HCPRO? Our Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Boot Camps are not like other CDI classes. Check out all the benefits we offer: UNMATCHED KNOWLEDGE: Our instructors have a unique combination of real-world CDI experience and adult education experience. As former CDI specialists and/or CDI managers working in the field, they know exactly what CDI specialists need to learn and how to present complex coding topics in an easy-tounderstand manner. RULES-BASED LEARNING: Course materials are based only on recognized source authorities, such as the Official Guidelines for ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS, the AMA s CPT Assistant, and the AHA s Coding Clinic. CUSTOM-DESIGNED COURSE MATERIALS: Proprietary materials and exercises are developed by instructors specifically for this immersion learning format. WE TEACH THEN TEST: CDI is not truly mastered without exercises that test comprehension. Students complete exercises for each module and review the answers with the instructors. We provide answer keys and rationale for all exercises so that coders can refer to the materials long after the Boot Camp is over. EARN VALUABLE CEs TO MAINTAIN YOUR CREDENTIALS: Our courses offer CEs from several major national and state organizations, including nursing, CME, coding, case management, and our own CCDS program. WELL-ESTABLISHED PROGRAM: HCPro is the nation s first organization to offer Boot Camp training courses to healthcare CDI professionals. We currently conduct more than 60 Clinical Documentation Improvement Boot Camps each year. On average, participants have rated HCPro Clinical Documentation Improvement Boot Camps at 4.9 on a 5.0 scale. REGISTER FOR ANY BOOT CAMP BY JANUARY 31, 2016 AND SAVE $100. Use discount code BCSAVE100 when registering to receive discount. 2

4 CLINICAL DOCUMENTATION IMPROVEMENT BOOT CAMP OVERVIEW Launch a successful CDI career with help from the experts at ACDIS. The CDI Boot Camp is ACDIS premier training for CDI specialists. Trusted by hundreds of CDI specialists as the go-to source for CDI education, this course defines the role of CDI specialists and provides comprehensive training on their responsibilities. Improve your CDI know-how with ACDIS-endorsed best practices for medical record review and compliant physician querying. Learn the ins and outs of Medicare s IPPS methodology and how it relates to short-term acute care hospital reimbursement, which is often a focus of CDI efforts. Specifically, participants learn about MS-DRG methodology, including how MS-DRGs are assigned and how documentation affects code assignment and sequencing. A majority of the Boot Camp is dedicated to exploring diagnoses typically in need of clarification for proper code assignment and MS-DRG assignment. Armed with this knowledge, CDI specialists can credibly query physicians to ensure accurate claims data and reimbursement. Leave the CDI Boot Camp with a complete understanding of: The ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting, as seen from a CDI perspective Diagnoses frequently in need of additional documentation to support accurate code assignment across all major body systems The value of querying the provider for clarification and best practices associated with the query process Tips for educating physicians on the basics of hospital reimbursement under IPPS and the value of complete documentation on organizational and professional profiling IPPS methodology based on MS-DRG assignment and the impact of diagnosis assignment and sequencing on hospital reimbursement CDI benchmarking basics, compliance risks, and professional ethics THIS BOOT CAMP WILL HELP YOU: Implement a step-by-step process for thorough medical record review based on industry guidelines Develop compliant verbal and written physician queries and understand how to effectively query providers Recognize the important clinical indicators for problematic diagnoses such as heart failure, sepsis, acute renal failure, and encephalopathy Understand the impact of compliance initiatives on CDI, including the Recovery Auditor program and the Office of Inspector General Work Plan UPCOMING DATES 2016 ORLANDO, FL JAN Hyatt Place Orlando/Universal SAN DIEGO, CA FEB 8 11 Homewood Suites by Hilton BRENTWOOD, TN MAR Hyatt Place ENGLEWOOD, CO APR Hyatt Place Denver Tech Center

6 OVERVIEW ICD-10 FOR CDI BOOT CAMP ACDIS popular ICD-10 for CDI Boot Camp has been completely redesigned for the new realities of CDI post-icd-10. This four-day class begins with an in-depth look at the ICD-10-CM conventions and guidelines CDI specialists need to know. It then walks through the major body systems and diagnoses commonly in need of specificity, helping students reconcile clinical terminology with the documentation needed to accurately code in ICD-10. The ICD-10 for CDI Boot Camp also covers ICD-10-PCS, including the mechanics of determining the root operation and strategies and tools for helping your HIM/coding staff arrive at the right PCS code. The class concludes with inpatient procedure review and inclass discussion of case studies to help students apply what they ve learned. THIS BOOT CAMP WILL HELP YOU: Evaluate, revise, and focus physician educational efforts and queries to meet documentation requirements for ICD-10-CM Determine the impact ICD-10-PCS will have on the organization and whether CDI specialists should query for surgical procedures Highlight changes from the ICD-9-CM to ICD-10-CM Official Coding Guidelines so that CDI specialists can get coders the specificity they need Recognize how ICD-10-CM documentation requirements will affect principal diagnosis selection, additional diagnosis reporting, and diagnosis sequencing Identify solutions that will maximize efficiency and limit productivity losses after the transition UPCOMING DATES 2016 TUCSON, AZ JAN Homewood Suites by Hilton Tucson SAVANNAH, GA FEB SpringHill Suites by Marriott HOUSTON, TX MAR Homewood Suites by Hilton Houston EAST NORRITON, PA APR Hyatt House Philadelphia

9 THE PHYSICIAN ADVISOR S ROLE IN CDI BOOT CAMP OVERVIEW With the transition to ICD-10-CM/PCS and the implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act transforming fee-for-service into quality-based alternative payment models and population payment, having a trained physician advisor for your CDI program has never been so important. The Physician Advisor s Role in CDI Boot Camp prepares physician advisors to successfully fulfill the duties of their job. They ll walk away with a firm understanding of ICD-10-CM/PCS fundamentals, ICD-10 s applications to inpatient and outpatient payment and severity and risk adjustment, clarification opportunities inherent to inpatient and outpatient CDI, techniques for engaging the medical staff in CDI, how to identify common documentation deficiencies in the medical record, and new avenues for CDI program growth. For 2016, we ve updated the Boot Camp to focus heavily on new ICD-10-CM/ PCS documentation requirements and how to ensure full and accurate physician documentation to properly code records in ICD-10. We ve also added new sections on inpatient quality measures and the physician advisor s role in Medicare s hospital and physician value-based purchasing programs. Participants will leave with a firm understanding of Medicare severity diagnosis-related groups (MS-DRG), Hierarchical Condition Categories (HCC), AHRQ s Patient Safety Indicators (PSI), and other metrics pertinent to their enterprise. This Boot Camp also covers documentation and clinical issues unique to pediatric patients. THIS BOOT CAMP WILL HELP YOU: Provides a thorough definition of the role of the physician advisor within a CDI program Reviews the goals and objectives of a CDI program Defines problematic terms in ICD-10-CM/PCS and solutions for resolving clashes between clinical and coding terminologies UPCOMING DATES 2016 REDONDO BEACH, CA FEB 8 9 Hilton Garden Inn Redondo Beach PORTLAND, OR JULY Hilton Garden Inn Portland Airport QUINCY, MA OCT Boston Marriott Quincy
