Premium hearing technology shaped for life P E R F O R M A N C E L I N E Premium INIUM WIRELESS Advanced Essential
Exclusively for everyone
To improve a hearing solution user s ability to perform in difficult situations with the minimum of effort in order to be active the whole day: this is our audiological intent Energy to live your life in a nutshell. Crucial to achieving this is exploiting the most advanced sound processing and effort saving technologies to best serve the unique individual demands of all your clients. This is exactly what Alta does. Alta raises speech understanding in noise to the next level and, at the same time, reduces listening effort. But that s not all. To achieve even greater satisfaction, Alta also enables you to tailor a solution exclusively to your clients hearing needs and their personal preferences for sound. That s what we call premium hearing technology, shaped for life. Energy to live your life
Game changer Alta literally changes what is possible in hearing care We believe that Alta sets an entirely new standard. Not only in terms of sound quality and how Alta will empower its users to better understand speech even in the most demanding situations. Or the reduced effort needed to do so. But also, and perhaps most significantly, in terms of the opportunity it creates to achieve greater satisfaction for all your clients. Until Alta, the performance a hearing solution could deliver might well have been ideal in some situations, but not all. The effort required to participate actively might prevent the user from being able to interact naturally all day.
And a user s hearing loss could only be addressed according to the needs identified by an audiogram. Not the intricate personal preferences for sound that every individual has. But, quite literally, Alta changes all this.
Premium and personal to the very core INIUM WIRELESS INIUM WIRELESS Introducing the new Inium platform Our new quad-core signal processing platform, Inium, delivers the unique combination of exceptional performance, incredibly small size and ultra low power consumption. This is how Alta raises the bar in speech understanding, sound quality and listening effort, and opens a wide range of personalisation opportunities. Inium facilitates our most stable and power-efficient binaural audiology ever where vital information is continually and seamlessly exchanged between both ears and a sound environment is reproduced in a natural, authentic manner. And in doing so, it sets the stage for breakthrough audiological concepts found only in Alta and a comprehensive and userfriendly connectivity solution, new ConnectLine. Power to perform The Inium near field magnetic receiver consumes up to 10 times less energy than a 2.4 GHz radio frequency receiver depending on the data rate.
Speech Guard E Spatial Sound Premium Free Focus Feedback shield YouMatic New ConnectLine
New Speech Guard E The ingenious evolution of speech understanding Speech Guard E elevates signal processing to the next level With Speech Guard we introduced a revolutionary approach to audiology centred upon the preservation of speech dynamics to allow the auditory system to receive and understand speech efficiently and comfortably. This remains the underlying principle behind our pioneering research and development within speech understanding. And with Speech Guard E we take this concept and the performance your clients will experience to the next level. The E refers to the elevated performance as a result of its expanded window for speech dynamics and the reduced effort required to understand speech with Alta. But how does it work? Speech Guard E encompasses the benefits of linear and non-linear (WDRC) systems by maintaining audibility and preventing discomfort while safeguarding speech dynamics and at the same time avoids the drawbacks. By preserving speech characteristics like onsets and offsets of words and phonemes, Speech Guard E keeps voices distinct from one another and separates them more clearly from competing background noises. This makes it easier for Alta users to select and switch between speakers, and follow and engage in conversations even in challenging, noisy environments intuitively and with less effort.
This graphic illustrates how Speech Guard E preserves the vital speech envelope in order to produce a clearer and more detailed speech signal, when compared to single compression. Original clean signal Speech Guard E Conventional WDRC
New Spatial Sound Premium There s life in space Richer spatial awareness with Spatial Sound Premium A natural awareness of a surrounding environment. Knowing where sounds are coming from. And reacting to them instinctively. These are all things we take for granted, but have proven highly demanding to replicate in a hearing solution. That s why we launched Spatial Sound. Like Speech Guard, it is a concept based on the principle of preserving the naturalness of a sound signal. This enables the user to better organise the environment in which they find themselves and prioritise the sound or sounds they wish to focus on, including voices. Thanks to the high bandwidth, flat frequency response and real-time binaural processing facilitated by the Inium chip
True binaural processing platform, and with open fittings, Spatial Sound Premium serves the auditory system with an acoustically natural signal, conveying as much information as possible about the physical environment and the origin of sounds within it. Responding to asymmetrical sound scenes by automatically attenuating noise at the ear with poorest signal-to-noise Ratio, Alta helps the brain to focus on the ear with the better SNR. With true real-time binaural processing made possible by Inium, both Alta devices continually communicate to preserve interaural level differences, enabling the user to clearly depict where sounds are coming from.
New Free Focus Premium A new freedom to keep focus Presenting new modes of directionality, with Free Focus Premium Directional microphones are widely accepted to be one of the most efficient ways to provide better signal-to-noise performance in challenging sound environments. But the way some systems behave can severely impact on user comfort and audibility. With Free Focus, however, our approach is to ensure that directionality is integrated within signal processing in order to best support the natural auditory system. Alta features two new directionality modes specifically developed to improve speech understanding in groups, crowds and background noise, by providing the user with the desired access to the speech signal, without compromising comfort and contextual and spatial awareness. These complement our new Free Focus approach which comprises a total of five focus modes that can be programmed to meet the individual user s own personal preferences and avoid overloading the brain.
Optimised omni Speech omni Split Full dir Full dir + LF Front Back New optimised omni aims to mimic the natural front focus of the pinna. New speech omni is a light speech prioritisation mode that has enhanced front focus and helps suppress sounds from the back. Split directionality combines the best of two worlds, allowing the user to focus on the desired signal in front while still providing awareness of sound inputs from behind. Full directionality gives the user the most focused help in difficult situations to prioritise the desired signal over all others. Full Directionality with Low Frequency Enhancement will preserve the low frequency input when all bands are in full directionality to ensure the loudness sensation for severe to profound hearing losses.
New feedback shield Solving the feedback paradox The new feedback shield creates an exceptional listening experience, without exception The goal of any feedback system is to allow the user to enjoy wearing a hearing solution without any trace of whistling or howling. Our new feedback shield is designed to do much more, complying with our high standards for excellent signal fidelity, speech intelligibility and sound quality. Some overly-aggressive systems have placed an excessive weight on feedback elimination without any regard for the resultant increase in artefacts and decrease in sound quality. At Oticon, we believe that a premium solution should provide a feedback-free signal without compromising signal fidelity. We meet these standards with feedback shield, a third generation system that effectively prevents feedback also in difficult situations for optimal audibility, sound quality and comfort. The result speaks for itself as feedback shield reduces feedback incidents by more than 80% (compared to our former DFC generations), improving sound quality and optimising audibility.
Anti Feedback Performance Signal Fidelity Full Gain The main purpose of the system is to prevent howling by cancelling the reamplified output signals looped into the signal path. The intelligent balance of frequency shifting and phase inversion in feedback shield effectively removes feedback. Maintaining the best possible signal fidelity is fundamental to speech understanding and listener acceptance. Where other anti-feedback systems create significant distortions and superimpose clicks and other artefacts to the original signal, the feedback shield does not. Full, appropriate gain is crucial to audibility, so sufficient amplification must be ensured at all times to hear well and understand speech. Common DFC systems reduce gain to eliminate feedback, which compromises audibility. The gain manager in feedback shield optimises and ensures audibility even in difficult situations.
Life comes in all shapes and sounds Now you can truly personalise hearing care and unleash your clients full hearing potential Alta enables you to reach beyond the audiogram and shape a hearing solution exclusively to meet the personal needs and demands of all your clients. This isn t just redefining the fitting process, we believe it is completely changing the game in hearing care.

New YouMatic YouMatic makes more personal possible The hardware is in Alta Everyone experiences life differently. And each of your clients experiences sound in their own individual way. It is, therefore, vital that we expand the opportunities for you to shape solutions as unique and individual as your clients are. With YouMatic, you can do just that. YouMatic is a new technology designed to create a more satisfying listening experience for each and every one of your clients throughout the entire day. Ultimately, YouMatic makes it possible to factor in more personal dimensions into how Alta reacts and responds, and enables you to address the individual client s perception and enjoyment of sound. YouMatic uses the constant environment detection and analysis performed by Alta s Artificial Intelligence system, and maps this against the personal profile you programme into Alta with the fitting software. By combining these two key inputs, YouMatic continuously controls the sound processing with regards to response time and levels, focus mode, noise management, transient management and compression speed. The result is a personalised listening performance like no other.
The software is in Genie The Genie Fitting Software makes programming YouMatic easy. The basis of this is a personal profile unique to the individual client, which is automatically prescribed from a series of inputs, including the audiogram, personal data and sound preferences. This is why we believe Alta is a genuine game changer. Yet no matter how advanced or complex this may all seem, the personal profile can still be easily adjusted and fine tuned like any other Oticon hearing solution. This profile then functions as the source point to define exactly how Alta reacts and responds in a given situation not only in terms of the situation itself but, most importantly, delivering the response the user wants and expects.
New personalisation process Unlock the power of personalisation The Alta personalisation process is your key to achieving even greater client satisfaction The interaction you share with your clients is essential to unlocking their hearing potential. With the new Alta personalisation options embedded in the Genie fitting system together with the ecaps counselling support tool we introduce a way to make it as rich, engaging and productive as possible. By using questions and structured listening experiences to help your clients express their preferences, you will be able to reach beyond the audiogram and address the intangible dimensions of personal tastes in sound, perception and expectations, including: --how a client s perceptual system works --how they process information --their individual sound preferences
During the first days and weeks of wearing Alta, the Alta experience tool lets your clients keep track of how their hearing solution responds across the environments that mean the most to them. An optimisation session will then focus on discussing your client s experience of Alta in this initial period, followed by a structured listening session where further refinements can be made. By allowing your clients to fully express their experience with processed sound and enabling you to adjust the performance and sound quality accordingly the Alta personalisation process creates the foundation for even greater client satisfaction.
Born to perform In all weathers, in all situations, Oticon hearing devices are designed to never let you down. The intelligent mechanical design features several seals to prevent water, dust and debris from getting inside. And all key components are nano coated to repel water and moisture. Our rigorous testing then ensures the highest robustness and water resistance, earning all our behind-the-ear instruments IP57 classification.
