Extend your merciful witness to the whole world through your gift in today's collection for the Society for the Propagation of the Faith! 40 Days for Life Sept. 28-Nov. 6, 2016 This fall's "40 Days for Life" campaign will be held September 28 - November 6, "40 Days for Life" is a peaceful, highly-focused, nondenominational initiative that focuses on 40 days of prayer and fasting, peaceful vigil at abortion facilities, and educational outreach with the goal of protecting mothers and their children from abortion. At least 11,796 unborn children have been saved from abortion during 40 Days for Life campaigns, and 75 abortion facilities have closed. To learn more about the 40 Days for Life campaign, visit: ALL SAINTS AND ALL SOULS November is the Feast of All Saints and All Souls. Envelopes are now available in the vestibule of the Church. WORLD MISSION SUNDAY TODAY IS WORLD MISSION SUNDAY! In announcing his decision to declare a Holy Year of Mercy, Pope Francis said, "Dear brothers and sisters, I have often thought about how the Church might make clear its mission of being a witness to mercy." Supporting the young churches throughout the world with your prayers and generous gifts is indeed a merciful witness of this mission. The collection today will help missionaries offer the poor of these areas practical help as they share the mercy of God. It will ensure the development of local dioceses, and support the work of priests, religious and lay leaders who serve those on the After 11:30 am Mass Once a Month Coffee & Cookies Our successful After 1130am Mass Once a Month Coffee & Cookies Social will continue on the last Sunday of each month. This month, we will meet outside in front of the church or in the New School lobby if the weather is bad, right after the 11:30 am Mass for coffee, cookies and conversation on Sunday, Oct.30 th. This activity allows parishioners, young and old to get to know each other, to strengthen our faith and to help each other. Please join us for 15 to 20 minutes to help make this monthly church activity a success. 4 BOOK CLUB AT ST. JOSEPH S Last Christmas many parishioners received the book "Rediscover Jesus" after mass. We invite you to use this easy-read book as a starting off point to have discussions about our Catholic Christian faith and how it can be alive and active in our everyday lives. Come join a small group of people who are excited about sharing a round-table look at the ideas in this book. More copies are available if you want to participate and do not currently have the book. PLEASE do not bring in Mass cards or cards that have printed on the back that a donation has been made to an organization. Deacon Doherty cannot use those cards. He also cannot use medals, prayer cards, pens, wrapping paper, stickers or necklaces. The last day for collecting the cards and calendars will be December 11 th so there will be time for the men to use them. Thank you for your continued support of this ministry. 5 ST. JOSEPH S MUSIC MINISTRY PRESENTS Inspired Songs of Healing, Hope and Remembrance. This annual service will be conducted at St. Joseph s Church, uptown Kingston on Sunday, November 6 th at 2:30 pm. The combined 30 voices of St. Joseph s Schola, St. Joseph s Choir and guests from area parishes will offer a heartfelt selection of songs that speak to those who have endured a loss. During the month of November it is a tradition of our faith to honor and remember those who have died. This annual event at our Parish includes reflections and readings, a list of the dead of our Parish in the past year and a Book of Remembrance for everyone to list the names of their beloved dead. Under the direction of Bob Gaus, an ensemble of instrumentalists will be featured. Jane Touhey is the Music Director. Come for an hour of inspired song, a moment of comfort, healing and the inspired hope. There is no offering. Arrive early and bring a family member or friend.
