1 MCP H May, 2014 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Belt Auto-Tensioner Installation commercial packaged ventilation system units model MPR Blower Assembly with Belt Auto-Tensioner Auto-Tensioner Setup Procedure These instructions will help the user properly set up the belt auto-tensioner. 1. Thread the bolt, lock washer, and flat washer through the idler bracket and into the tensioner assembly as shown in Figure 1.1. Tighten by finger only at this point. Figure 1.1 Bolt Installation WARNING Disconnect power supply before installing the accessory to prevent the unit from operating during installation. IMPORTANT 1. The use of this manual is specifically intended for a qualified installation and service agency. All installation and service of these kits must be performed by a qualified installation and service agency. 2. These instructions must also be used in conjunction with the Installation and Service Manual originally shipped with the appliance, in addition to any other accompanying component supplier literature. Application The auto-tensioner maintains belt power transmission efficiency, automatically compensates for belt stretching that may occur during normal operation, reduces maintenance, and extends the life of the belt. THIS MANUAL IS THE PROPERTY OF THE OWNER. PLEASE BE SURE TO LEAVE IT WITH THE OWNER WHEN YOU LEAVE THE JOB.

2 2. Install the auto tensioner assembly onto the blower assembly as shown in Figure 2.1 using the six screws provided. Figure 2.2 Belt Installation Figure 2.1 Tensioner Installation 4. Ensure that the auto-tensioner V-belt idler is in light contact with the belt at roughly the 7 o clock position, then tighten the 3/8 mounting bolt so that it is snug, but not fully tightened. 5. Place a 15/16 open end wrench on the hex nut on the tensioner body and rotate until you feel light spring tension applied to the belt. 3. Install V-belt onto pulleys and tensioner as shown in Figure 2.2. Note the following: 6. Mark the belt tensioner assembly across the inside and outside hub as shown in Figure 2.3. This will be your starting point for tension adjustment. Orient the auto-tensioner at roughly the 7 o clock position. Ensure the indication arrow on the auto-tensioner is pointing toward the belt. If it is not, please refer to step 2 in the Fenner Drives Rotatory Tensioner Installation Instructions at the end of this document. If V-belt goes on easily without having to walk it around the pulley is either worn or the incorrect size and may need to be replaced. Figure 2.3 Tensioner Adjustment Starting Point 2 MCP

3 7. From the starting point continue rotating the wrench until outer hub rotates 3 marks from the starting position as shown in Figure 3.1. The belt auto-tensioner comes with 2 locating ears that can be used to install a spring pin. Using the locating ears as a guide, drill a ¼ hole through the idler bracket. Refer to Figure 3.2. Figure 3.2 Tensioner Locating Ears Locating Ears Idler Bracket 10. Install a ¼ X ¾ spring pin into the tensioner mounting ear using a punch. Seat the spring pin flush with the mounting ear as shown in Figure 3.3. MCP
