9 Results of First Community Meeting (January 17, 2007) Character of Banker s Hill: dignified, subtle colors, historic, old money feeling, elegant, historic homes with nice detailing. Lighting: carry historic lights into the corridors. The relationship of Balboa Park to Banker s Hill connections through corridors and trails (Quince Street is an important example). The idea of canyons as open space connections was also discussed.
10 Results of First Community Meeting (January 17, 2007) Community identity signage: subtle, like a stone column, rather than a large sign like Hillcrest. Street furnishings: there was a request for unique, non-standard bus shelters, benches and other amenities. Create a more pedestrian streetscape effect along the street perhaps add a landscape parkway between the sidewalk and street. Public art was suggested with mosaic in sidewalks and historic information references. The idea of a Magic Mile with markers along Balboa Park was suggested. Homeless is a concern and should be considered in all designs.
