4 1 Hardware Support The supported reference platforms officially supported in this release are: Freescale Tower System platform: ColdFire and Kinetis. These specific MCUs have been used in the system integration: Kinetis K60 MCU (e.g. TWR-K60N512), 512 KByte Flash and 64 KByte RAM ColdFire MCU (TWR-MCF5225X), 512 KByte Flash and 64 KByte RAM The supported WiFi cards are: Freescale Tower Platform Based: TWR-WIFI-AR4100 Rev. C from Freescale; detailed hardware information can be found in the TWR-WIFI-AR4100 Hardware Reference Guide MCU memory selection: When choosing an MCU from the ColdFire or Kinetis family, it is recommended to select a device with 256 KByte of Flash and 32 KByte or higher of RAM to enable the application and demos 2 Software Support Reference drivers and a few reference applications have been provided with this release. Details of the drivers supported are: The Freescale based host MCU runs with Freescale MQX operating system version or MQX3.7. The IDE environments that have been tested for this version of the OS are: CodeWarrior v7.2 for the ColdFire system running MQX IAR Embedded Workbench v6.20 for the Kinetis K60 system running MQX Codewarrior 10.1 for the Kinetis K60 system running MQX 3.7 AR4100 I-WSR2.0 host driver memory requirements are as listed. 5 3 Power Supply Requirements Table 1 shows the power supply requirements. See the Measuring AR4100 Power Consumption on the TRW-WiFi-AR4100 Board application note for actual power performance. Typical wakeup times are defined as the time it takes to wake in a typically loaded home network. Highly loaded and congested networks can incur a longer wake time. Condition Time required from off until ready to transmit when STA connection is maintained on wakeup Time required from off until ready to transmit when STA connection loses connection on wakeup (and re-associating to the same AP on the same channel) Time required from off until ready to transmit when STA connection loses connection on wakeup (and a complete rescan is required) Table 2 Typical Wakeup and Connect Performance Typical Wake Time 115ms/197ms for SPI 4x/SPI 1x modes 190 ms 500 ms I-WSR 2.0 has been tested using 3.3 V and 1.8 V supply voltages to the AR4100 SiP, as shown in the TWR-WIFI-AR4100 Hardware Design Guide. 4 Features 4.1 System Release 2.0 Features Store and recall support for the IPv4 Offload stack on the AR4100P for UDP (both transmit and receive), and TCP (transmit only) Support for quad mode serial flash has been added to improve performance and reduce power; quad mode support significantly improves boot time. The normal driver boot time improves from 197 ms to 115 ms. The raw mode image boot time improves from 72 ms to 58.5 ms. Supported quad flash models are listed in section 7. Initial support for MQX3.8 is available for initial porting work. Testing for MQX3.8 is more limited. Customers need to work with Qualcomm-Atheros before attempting to take a product to market on this version. Re-architecting the driver and driver optimizations result in tuned driver sizes of 26.5 KB for the K60 platform. Actual code and RAM size depends on the feature/resource configuration. 7 6 Certifications 6.1 Hardware Certification System release 2.0 has received modular certification with the FCC, IC, CE, and other regulatory agencies.
