1 MONTHLY NEWSLETTER April, 2016 Continued Since January, HIGHLIGHTS Pak Day Parade - 23rd March, 2016 PAK DAY PARADE - 23RD MARCH, 2016 Pak Day Parade was held on 23rd March in which Boy Scouts participated with the armed Forces marching troops. President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister, Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Naval Staff, Chief of Air Staff reached the Parade Venue to witness the Parade. Ms. Rahila Hameed Khan Durrani, Chief

3 Solar Activities at Quetta P r o v i n c i a l C o u n c i l Meeting of AJK Boy Scouts Association Pak-Scouts M E E T I N G W I T H M I N I S T E R F O R RELIGIOUS AFFAIRS Ms. Rahila Hameed Khan Durrani, Chief Commissioner, PBSA met with the Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf on 30th March, 2016 at Minister s Office, Islamabad. Matter of C ommi ss ioner, P B SA & S p e a ker Balochistan Assembly Chaired the Meeting. Participation of Pak Contingent in the International events, joint venture of PBSA with sister organizational and scouting affairs were discussed in length and certain steps were proposed by the Committee. Training Courses at Sindh BSA 9th National Scout Jamboree Srilanka Pakistan Day Celebrations Week at Balochistan Boy Scouts Association Scout Activities - PIA BSA mutual interest were discussed and the h o n o u r a b l e M i n i s t e r e n s u r e d enhancement in the quota of scouts at Saudia. 3 R D M E E T I N G O F P R O V I N C I A L SECRETARIES COMMITTEE 3rd Meeting of Provincial Secretaries Committee was held on 30th March, 2016 at National Headquarters, PBSA. Ms. Rahila Hameed Khan Durrani, Chief House unanimously thanked the Chief Commissioner, PBSA for her steps & action taken for revamping Scout Movement in Pakistan. COMMISSIONER CONFERENCE The Commissioner s Conference was held on 30th March, 2016 at National Headquarters, PBSA, Islamabad to discuss and finalize the following in the light of Adults in Scouting Policy of PBSA:- - TOR s /Job d e s c r i p t i on s o f t h e Commissioners of PBSA - Revamping of Scout Movement in Pakistan Mr. Ghulam Mustafa, Mr. Abdul Mannan and Mr. Abdul Hadi, Coordinator Overseas Pakistani Scouts at UAE proposed certain

4 steps to be taken for the promotion of UP COMING NATIONAL EVENTS National Rover Moot MOP - Team Pakistan Gathering National Solar Training Workshop, April, 2016 National Training Conference scout activities in Pakistan. Chief Commissioner ensured coordination and cooperation of Provincial Secretaries and Scout Leaders for the same. Certificates of Appointment were also presented to the Commissioners and Coordinator Overseas Pakistani Scouts. Mr. Munir Ahmed is an 80 year old, dedicated volunteer scout and an educationist by profession. He was born st on 1 December, He joined Scouting in 1944 and serving as Adult Leader in Scouting from 1960 to date for National Integration. He is a high achiever scout, as he successfully completed the courses of Basic Unit Leader (1961), Wood Badge (1964), Assistant Leader Trainer (1967) and Leader Trainer (1970). He also attended Basic Management Course for professional Executives in Manila (Philippines). He has served as volunteer scout being member of District Executive Committees, Provincial and National Councils of Boy Scouts Associations. He also served as Secretary, National Training & Programme for 11 years ( ). He has served efficiently and actively during the earthquake (2005) in Azad Kashmir by deputing volunteers and served for a month a Bagh (Azad Kashmir). Presently he is serving as Honorary National C o m m i s s i o n e r, C o o r d i n a t i o n & Integration of Pakistan Boy Scouts Association. Mr. Munir Ahmed being a professional trainer, trained boy scouts in various proficiency & rank badges. He also trained 400 scout leaders. He participated in all the 14 National Scouts Jamborees

5 UP COMING INTERNATIONAL EVENTS APR Sub-Committee Members Orientation / Meeting - Indonesia April, 2016 International Camp Staff Programme - USA, May - June, 2016 held from 1952 to He organized all the Rover Moots in Pakistan and also organized several rallies and camporees organized at national level. He arranged sponsorship for 14 boy scouts and 3 leaders for SAARC Camp at Colombo (1993, Sri Lanka). He established & promoted Ghora Gali Scouts Center as Integration Center to accommodate Youth of Pakistan. He got lifetime achievement award for this contribution towards the noble cause of scouting. PAK DAY GOODWILL CRICKET MATCH Pak Day Goodwill Cricket Match was organized at National Headquarters, PBSA, Islamabad on 24th March, In which two teams of Pakistan Scouts Cadet College Batrasi (PSCC) took part. Ms. Rahila Hameed Khan Durrani, Chief Commissioner, PBSA & Chairperson BoG PSCC Batrasi was the Chief Guest. World Scout Seminar on Evironment Education - CZECH Republic, May, 2016 International Division Summer Camp Called CAF16-Denmark, July, st Muslim Scout National Jamboree- USA 31 July-06 August, 2016 APR Workshop on Revisiting the Scout Method-Taiwan August, th Indonesia National Scout Jamboree- Indonesia August, 2016 Mr. Munir Ahmed participated in several International events which includes: Asia Pacific Regional (Thailand), Asia Pacific Regional Conference (Sri Lanka), World S c o u t C o n f e r e n c e ( G e r m a n y ), International Scout Jamboree (Iran & Singapore). He got several awards in the field of Scouting including Silver Camel Award (Highest Scout Award), Silver Palm Award, Long Service Award, decoration Award, Bar to Medal of Merit, and Medal of Merit. In recognition of his services of most exceptional character, he was awarded excellent service award by the President and Chief Scout of Pakistan during He helped brilliant record of volunteer services in the field of narcotics prevention in the consuming areas of Sindh Province. President / Chief Scout Islamic Repub lic of Pakist an awarded Tamgha-e-Imtiaz to Mr. Munir Ahmed Bhullar on account of his outstanding performance for scout Movement. SOLAR ACTIVITIES AT QUETTA In connection with the celebrations of Pakistan Day a Solar Exhibition was o r g a n i z e d a t P r o v i n c i a l S c o u t Headquarters Balochistan Boy Scouts Association (Quetta) from 21 to 23 March

6 2016. This exhibition was visited by many a rover scout. He appreciated the efforts school children, boy scouts, girl guides, of the scouts for introducing such positive teachers and general public. All the visitors activities. 21st New Zealand Jamboree th Dec, 2016 to 7th Jan, th Korean National Jamboree - Korea, August, 2016 participated in Solar Activities in a fun way. They observed solar cooking, performed solar art and experienced the reflection and focussing the sunlight through cockroach race. Governor and Chief Scout Balochistan Mr. Sabir Hussain Niazi, Provincial Secretary Balochistan Boy Scouts Association showed his interest to Muhammad Khan Achakzai was the Chief Guest on 23 rd March. He keenly observed the solar cooking, enjoyed solar coffee and showed his interest in solar gadgets. He was presented a piece of solar art made by continue SgS activities on permanent basis at Provincial Scout Training Centre, Quetta.

7 14th Korean National Jamboree - Korea, August, 2016 Pak-Scouts PROVINCIAL COUNCIL MEETING OF AJK BOY SCOUTS ASSOCIATION Provincial Council meeting of AJK Boy Scouts Association was held on 27th Headquarters, Shikarpur from 11th to 18th March, 2016 under the Leadership of Mr. M Umar Soomro Leader Trainer, Course Leader. 28 trainees from 8 Districts of Sindh, participated in the Course. Following were the team members. Hafiz Tariq H ah mood, Provin cial Commissioner AJK & Senior Deputy Chief Commissioner, PBSA chaired the meeting. Secretary & International Commissioner, PBSA were also invited in the meeting. The House also unanimously approved nomination of Mr. Abdul Samad Chishti as Provincial Secretary AJK BSA. Earlier on 26th March, 2016 AJK BSA Executive Committee approved and recommended Trg. & Prog. Activities Calender, Budget , approval of Bye Laws of AJK for the Council. 8 13th World Scout Youth Forum - Azerbaijan, 7-10 August, st World Scout Conference - Azerbaijan, Aug, th APR Scout Conference - Philippines th World Scout Jamboree - North America, 22nd July - 2nd August, 2019 Contingent Leader and Mr. Muhammad Umar Soomro was the Dy. Contingent Leader. Jamboree was inaugurated by Maithpala Sirisena President of Srilanka Chief Scout. He visited the campsite and appreciated involvement of Pakistan contingent in the J a m b o r e e. P a k i s t a n c o n t i n g e n t participated in all the activities during the Jamboree and took active part in Boating, Swimming, Climbing Wall, Air Spotter, Messenger of Peace Base, Stamp exhibition Global development village First aid base and got Jamboree Award. It also participated in Gilwel re-union and 12th ATAS World Gathering at Thalsevana Holiday Resort, KKS. PAKISTAN DAY CELEBRATIONS WEEK AT BALOCHISTAN BOY SCOUTS ASSOCIATION One week celebratoins were organized at Provincial Headquarters Boy Scouts Association from March, Boy Scouts & Girl Guides of Balochistan organized stalls, skill panorama for the audience. A special programme was also arranged in the Jinnah Hall in which Governor & Chief Scout Balochistan was the Chief Guest. Earlier the Governor visited the status and appointed the work done by Youth. March past was also appreciated by him. Cash Prizes and Souvenir were awarded to Boy Scouts & Girl Guides by the Governor. Exhibition of Solar was the major attraction of the visitors. Governor appreciated the vocation centres for the male & female invitation by Balochistan BSA. He ensured his support for promotion of youth activities at Balochistan. Mr. Sabir Hussain presented souvenir to Governor Balochistan. Pakistan Day Celebration Ceremonies by PIA Boy Scouts Association P IA BSA orga ni ze d Pak ista n day celebrations on 23rd March 2016 at its Provincial Headquarters and across Pakistan in its District Scout Headquarters. Main event was at PHQ, PIA BSA Karachi. Provincial Commissioner Muhammad

9 13th World Scout Youth Forum - Azerbaijan, 7-10 August, st World Scout Conference - Azerbaijan, Aug, th APR Scout Conference - Philippines th World Scout Jamboree - North America, 22nd July - 2nd August, 2019 Shuaib was the Chief Guest of the ceremony. Observation and speech Competitions between Shaheen Scouts, National songs and sketch making of Minar-e-Pakistan between Boy Scouts and cultural dances and speech competitions between Rover Scouts were held. Provincial Secretary Rashid Amin Dar with Provincial and District Officials and large number of Shaheen, Boy Scouts, Rovers and Girls in Scouting witnessed the same program. Chief Guest distributed the shields amongst the win ners of competitions. Youth Camps in March, 2016 PIA BSA successfully organized First Sitara Camps at Lahore and Quetta Districts on 20th March 2016 at District Headquarters for Shaheen Scouts between the age of 6 to 8 years old Boys and Girls in Scouting by respective District Shaheen Leaders and District Officials. Hamdam Badge Camp Hamdam Badge camp was organized by PIA Boy Scouts Association Engineering District team for newly joined Rovers Scouts of South Division from 25th to 28th March, 2016 at PIA Scouts Training Center Gulistan-e-Johar, Karachi. Waseem Ud Din Qureshi was the Camp Leader whereas; Rana Gulzar was Dy. Camp Leader and Wazir Ali was the Camp Secretary. ADC General Iftikhar Ahmed Inaugurate the camp. On the closing ceremony Secretary Training and Program Muhammad Usman appreciated the camp team and host District Engineering for their services and distributed the certificates to the participants and appreciation certificates to the organizers. Peace Cycle Rally PIA Boy Scouts Association Quetta District organized a Peace Cycle Rally from Hanna Lake Baluchistan to District Scouts Head Quarters on 10th March 2016 under the supervision of District Secretary Quetta District Hasan Baloch. Scout Leader Training Course by Sindh BSA Karachi Division Sindh Boy Scouts Association Karachi Division organized Scout Leader Training Course from 25 to 31 March 2016 at their Scouts Training Center, Gulistan-e-Scouts, Karachi. Muhammad Javed ALT and Divisional Organizer was the course Leader. Assistant Provincial Commissioner Public Rel ations P IA Boy S couts Association / Leader Trainer Khalid Mahmood share training & lecture on POR and First Aid in this Scouts leader Training Course. GONE HOME The following Scout Leaders were passed away in the month of March, 2016: - Mr. Talat Mahmood Khokhar, Punjab Boy Scouts Association - Mr. Hussain Ghulam Ali, Sindh Boy Scouts Association - Mr. Manzoor Ali Khan, Sindh Boy Scouts Association We pray that the departed souls may rest in Heaven and Almighty Allah give courage to their families to bear this irreparable Loss.
