1 What s New? Equitrac Express, Equitrac Office: version 5.4 I-Queue s Port Pooling for I-Queue/DRE Description/ Multiple ports for I-Queue can be configured using a simple setting in System Manager. The config setting is located in CONFIGURATION > DRE/DCE and Follow-You Printing, and can be toggled to select a number greater than or equal to 1, with 1 being the default setting. In the Number of ports per I-Queue field, enter the number of printer ports (up to 100) associated with the devices used for I-Queue printing. This configures the number of ports assigned to the Windows print queue and allows multiple print jobs to be processed at the same time. A simple way to create multiple communication ports for an I-Queue on a DRE so that print jobs and communications flow efficiently, especially when scaling to support enterprise level print processing and busy DRE I- Queue s. Management s Active Directory Integration Across Trusted & Untrusted Domains Description/ Organizations can now sync Active Directory across untrusted domains using optional external authentication credentials. Previously Equitrac relied on trusted domains and the usage of implicit authentication against the AD server. The credentials are stored in an encrypted format. This is supported for Windows 2008, 2008 R2, 2012, and 2012 R2 AD servers. This is a very useful feature for many organizations that want consolidated reporting, but operate in situations where there are untrusted domains examples include companies with new acquisitions and autonomous divisions. 2 Management s Printer Configuration Wizard Enhancement Auto Create I-Queue Port Disable I-Queue Auto-Creation on Cluster Description/ The Printer Configuration Wizard has an added option for creating I- Queue Ports (previous named Common Port ) for devices that are managed by Print Servers. The admin can select the print server and the devices, and then apply a template common port name. An easy and fast way to create I-Queue Ports for many devices, rather than doing it manually for each device in System Manager. An I-Queue is no longer automatically created on a cluster node. This allows the Admin to properly configure I-Queue on a print spooler resource that would allow for fail-over. This only affects Windows Server 2008 and 2008R2 clusters since the print spooler resource is not available in Windows Server 2012 and later. Note that although Microsoft discontinued physical cluster support, Equitrac is supported via VM clustering on 2012 and later. Improved configuration of I-Queue on clusters. Before with I-Queue for DRE, the DRE would automatically attempt to create the I-Queue and its ports on the local print server. However, on a cluster this would create an I-Queue printer in the print server of the physical node. I-Queue needs to exist in a print spooler resource that would allow for fail-over. 3 Management s Device Import Tool (Web System Manager) Description/ Admins can now create new devices directly into System Manager by importing the device config settings via a CSV file (easily created using Excel). The tool imports and sets up physical devices as well as I-Queues and External Print Queues. The Device Import Tool is integrated into Web System Manager for security, or it can be done by a command line interface. The following fields are enabled: 1. Physical Device (Type = phd ) Type Hostname/IP Address Location Pull Group 2. I-Queue Port (Type = iqp ) Type Protocol LPR Queue Name Name Description Monochrome Settings Name 3. External Print Queue (Type = epq ) Type DCE Server Source Server URI s PersonalQ URI s Raw Port Number Name EPQ Type Printer URI The device port and queue information in imported into System Manager and the Equitrac database, and no further configuration is needed. Workflow of importing: Select a CSV file in Web System Manager. Web System Manager parses the specified CSV file and shows a preview screen about the items. The items can be reviewed and can be excluded from the import step. Web System Manager imports the selected items. The import tool shows the progress of the import process. Optionally, you can also download a sample.csv file. You can study this file to learn how to create your own.csv files or you can add your own data to the.csv file and import it. This feature allows Admins to easily add physical devices to System Manager, particularly in the case of I-Queue and server-less printing, where the absence of print servers does not allow MFP s to be imported via Printer Configuration Wizard. 4 Management Improvements Device Import Tool (Command Line) Improved ecopy Integration Update of OCR Engine Description/ Admins can now create new devices directly in System Manager by using a command line tool that defines the device config settings. Equitrac v5.4 is installed with the DeviceImportTool.exe utility, which is a command line tool (requires.net Framework v4+). This tool can be controlled with command line parameters, so it can be used from any script language (e.g. PowerShell) for automated, scheduled importing. The tool can import one device at one call. This feature allows Admins to easily add physical devices to System Manager, particularly in the case of I-Queue and server-less printing, where the absence of print servers does not allow MFP s to be imported via Printer Configuration Wizard. The integration between ecopy and Equitrac Office/Express has been updated to use an improved Cost Recovery Connector protocol in the next updated version of ecopy. The improved protocol allows for offline posting of transactions meaning that Single Sign On Users can now logout before the scan is complete and the transactions are tracking appropriately. The improved protocol is in version 3 of the Cost Recovery Connector, and the integration in Equitrac is found in the "ecopy" type embedded dialog in System Manager, and selected in the drop down box for the ecopy version. This provides an optimized workflow that allows users to productively continue with their tasks while the system works in the background. Important Note: This feature will be supported in the next release of ecopy Support of the newest version of OmniPage as part of Capture & Send. This corrects various conversion issues and includes better support for non-english languages. This fixes several existing bugs, and provides support of additional languages in the OCR functionality. 5 Management Improvements Scheduler - Run Missed Tasks Optimize PJL Pagecounting for Speed Web Client: Secure Against Common Attacks Description/ An option for a scheduled task to run immediately when the system comes back up after being down during a schedule task. Previously, the scheduler was design to only run schedule tasks in the future and if a scheduled event was missed by the system, that event was ignored and the future event was scheduled. When the system comes back up after being done, it detects a missed task and executes it. Missed tasks are executed in order of their timed schedule, ie earlier missed task are run first. The config setting has been added to the New task dialogue. This feature gives flexibility for running tasks and allows critical scheduled tasks to be executed immediately after an outage. The PJL counting process has been improved to be significantly more efficient in collecting and transmitting page information. Users can print multiple documents while using PJL page counting for proper hardware page counting, while not seeing a delay between print jobs. If the user cancels printing mid-job, or there is a printer error, Equitrac combines the information from the Datastream Interpreter (DSI) and the PJL page count to determine an accurate page count and document details. This option applies to PJL compatible devices. Provides accurate PJL page counting with minimal reduction in throughput of the device. Web Client has been updated to guard against the most commonly used attacks for web applications. These include: Simple URL copy. SQL Injection attacks. Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) attacks. Over-Posting attacks. Open Redirection attacks. This applies to the common Login and Landing pages of the Web Client, and the Web Deposit and Web System Manager web functionalities. Significantly improved security for the Web Client, protecting from external attacks. Important Note: This does not apply to the Scan Client which is a separate platform. 6 PageControl Touch (Server-side only) System Manager - Configuration Settings for PageControl Touch Description/ The server-side work for supporting the upcoming PageControl Touch hardware device has been exposed in System Manager Server-side support for a future touch-based hardware control device. Important Note: This is server-side functionality only. The PageControl Touch hardware device will be released at a future date. Supportability s SLP configuration in Diagnostic section CAS logs to drop software table into ZIP file Description/ Diagnostic logging of SLP to help troubleshoot issues with the SLP service. Improved ability to support Equitrac software and troubleshoot issues. When CAS logs are collected, a dump of the software table is made to a TXT file and is included in the log zip file. When supporting a solution, it can be very useful to get the exact software revisions in use. This is typically done with a screenshot of the software window, but that is hard to capture. OS Additions Support SQL 2014 Description/ Equitrac Office/Express now supports SQL Server Updated support for enterprise customers who want to use the latest SQL Server software.
