1 Men s Epee USA Fencing National Point Competitions Note regarding Cadet (U17) & Junior (U20) points standings: Points awarded for the 2016 April Div I National Championships will be considered for Rolling Points Only. Points awarded for at Senior, Junior and Cadet NACs and Championships are used in Rolling Points Only. For any designated event that does not meet the FIE criteria, points will be calculated according to the strength factor formula and be considered in Group I, unless otherwise specified in selection criteria. National and International Event Conflicts The National Coach, in consultation with the Director of Sports Performance and USA Fencing Athlete Advisory Group weapon representatives, may assess a weight value to a domestic event should it conflict with a designated international event. As conflicts arise, weight values will be indicated both in the selection criteria and in the international calendar posted HERE.

2 Men s Epee - Senior International Teams Selection 2017 Men s Epee World Championships TBD - Leipzig, GER SELECTION DATE: At the conclusion of the 2017 Div 1 National Championships SELECTION: The top four athletes on the National Senior Team Point Standings will be selected as members of the Senior World Championship Team and will be eligible to compete in the individual The National Weapon Coach may select a fifth fencer within ten (10) business days of selection solely for the team The fifth fencer will be recommended by the National Weapon Coach and reviewed by a panel composed of a fencing representative from the USOC Athlete Advisory Council (AAC) and the Director of Sports Performance (or, in his or her absence, the Chief Executive Officer). This fencer may become the fourth member of the team for the team competition in place of one of the four fencers selected for the individual event. This fencer is not eligible for the individual competition (unless one of the four fencers becomes injured and the fifth fencer named to the team is also the first alternate for the individual competition). GROUP I = SUM OF TWO HIGHEST POINTS EARNED AT NAC Div I: 9/1/2016 to Selection Date Div I National Championship 3. Competitions specified in Group II below not included in Group II sum GROUP II = SUM OF FIVE HIGHEST POINTS EARNED AT Designated Senior World Cup and Grand Prix competitions: 4/1/2016 to Selection Date (MAXIMUM of FOUR results count in Group II) Olympic Games (Top 16 result) Weight Value for the 2016 Olympic Games = 2.0. The 2016 Div I July Challenge will count for Rolling points only. 2

4 Men s Epee Junior & Cadet International Teams Selection 2017 Men s Epee Junior World Championships April, Plovdiv, BUL SELECTION DATE: At the conclusion of the 2017 Junior Olympic Fencing Championships SELECTION: The top four athletes on the National Junior Team Point Standings will be selected as members of the Junior World Championship Team and will be eligible to compete in the individual The National Weapon Coach may select a fifth fencer ranked 5 th through 8 th on the Junior Team Point Standings or one of the cadets qualified for the Cadet World Championships within ten (10) business days of selection solely for the team The fifth fencer will be recommended by the National Weapon Coach and reviewed by a panel composed of a fencing representative from the USOC Athlete Advisory Council (AAC) and the Director of Sports Performance (or, in his or her absence, the Chief Executive Officer). Athletes will be selected in the following order: 1. Top 24 athletes on the National Junior Team Point Standings 2. Top 12 athletes on the National Cadet Team Point Standings 3. All athletes remaining on the National Junior Team Point Standings 4. All athletes remaining on the National Cadet Team Point Standings 5. All other athletes (using order to finalize entries as indicated in Athlete Handbook) *As a reminder, athletes must register online by the registration deadline to be eligible for selection. Athletes may register for the individual competition only, the team competition only or both events. 5
