3 Authoring with Arbortext Editor 5.4 Overview Course Code SAB-CEK2952 Course Length 24 Hours During this three-day course, you will learn the basic and advanced editing operations of Arbortext Editor. The course emphasizes hands-on experience, interaction between student and instructor, and a solid foundation in the fundamental skills and commands of this structured authoring tool. After completing this course, you will know how to open, save, and close new and existing documents in Arbortext Editor. You will learn how to perform basic edit operations, such as cut, copy, and paste. You will also learn how to find and replace text and markup. You will learn how to insert, change, and delete markup and text. You will learn how to insert graphics and symbols, create and insert text entities, and add, modify, and delete attribute values. You will also learn how to create and edit tables. You will learn how to use proofreading tools, such as the spelling checker and thesaurus. Additionally, you will learn how to use profiles. You will learn how to use Arbortext Editor s change tracking feature to track changes in your documents, and also learn how to compare changes between different versions of a document. Finally, you will learn how to use Arbortext Command Language to perform basic operations in Arbortext Editor. At the end of each module, you will complete a skills assessment. The questions are used to help reinforce your understanding of the module topics and form the basis for review of any topics, if necessary.

6 Authoring DITA using Arbortext Editor 5.4 Overview Course Code SAB-CEK2953 Course Length 32 Hours In this four-day course, you will learn the basic and advanced editing operations of the Arbortext DITA application and Arbortext Editor. The course emphasizes hands-on experience, interaction between student and instructor, and a solid foundation in the fundamental skills and commands of the Arbortext DITA application. You will learn basic functions such as opening and saving documents, replacing text and markup, adding and modifying attribute values and creating topics, tasks and references. You will also learn how to use the Resource Manager to create cross-references and links, create content references, and insert graphics and images. You will also use profiles, compare document versions, create DITA maps, as well as print DITA documents. At the end of each module, you will find a set of review questions to reinforce critical topics from that module. Your instructor will discuss these with the class. At the end of the course, you will find a course assessment in Pro/FICIENCY intended to evaluate your understanding of the course as a whole.

9 Introduction to Arbortext Styler 5.4 Overview Course Code SAB-CEK3073 Course Length 24 Hours This three-day course teaches the concepts for creating one or more stylesheets for authoring, for editing window display, paged and Web outputs. In this course, you will learn how to code stylesheet categories that affect the Arbortext window display and paged output, and how to apply context, position and conditional-based formatting. You will also learn how to use derivation and property sets to design a stylesheet that is easy to maintain. You will learn how to create and apply page sets, preview multiple outputs while developing StylerSheets, and export stylesheets to multiple types. Finally, you will test your stylesheet to ensure its success. At the end of the course, you will have a working knowledge of techniques for specifying format for Arbortext window display, multiple outputs and stylesheet formats, familiarity with relevant documentation, and the resources to investigate formatting options not directly covered. Pro/FICIENCY assessments will be provided in order for you to assess your understanding of the course materials. The assessment results will also identify the class topics that require further review. At the end of the class, you will take an assessment via your PTC University account.

12 Configuring the Arbortext 5.4 Application Overview Course Code SAB-CEK3074 Course Length 24 Hours This three day workshop is designed to familiarize you with the design modules of Arbortext Architect that enable you to create, configure, and maintain document types. You learn about user interface configuration, the DCF file, and document type preferences as you master new terminology and skills. After completing this course, you will know how to open Arbortext Architect, and import doctype components. You will learn how to modify the appearance and behavior of elements using the DCF Editor. You will also create template and sample files. You will learn how to install a document type, configure aliases, and use ActiveX controls. You will create and run macros and learn how to create dynamic dialog boxes using the XUI Editor. You will learn how to merge data from external sources. You will configure and assign profiles. You will also learn how to customize Web output and configure PDF files. After successfully completing this course, you will be prepared to create, configure, install, and maintain an Arbortext application. Pro/FICIENCY assessments will be provided in order for you to assess your understanding of the course materials. The assessment results will also identify the class topics that require further review. At the end of the class, you will either take an assessment via your PTC University account, or your instructor will provide training on how to do this after the class.

Install a customized, global user dictionary. Create and apply an alias map to a document type. Create, run, and test a macro. Configure XUI dialog boxes and access Microsoft ActiveX control. Understand and run different query types including a query using the Data Merge Interface. Customize the PCF file for a document type and apply a profile to a document. Configure Web publishing, enable Web options, and configure options for PDF files.
