6 What you should know: AYSO is an all volunteer organization. The coaches and referees you see each practice and game are not employees they are your neighbors and other parents like you. The program does not run without parents like you!

8 Information for U5 / U6 Families Your child will be placed on a team that will have a one hour session each Saturday The first 30 minutes is a "practice followed by a small-sided game. You will hear from a coach in early September Uniforms will be distributed prior to first game, (jersey, shorts, socks). Players need soccer or athletic shoes and shin guards. Boys and girls are separated.

19 Laws of the Game The Laws of the Game can be summarized in three simple words: Fun Safe Fair U-8 Official Course Lesson 1

20 Philosophy of Refereeing The Laws of the Game are intended to provide that games should be played with as little interference as possible, and in this view it is the duty of the referee to penalize only deliberate breaches of the Law. Constant whistling for trifling and doubtful breaches produces bad feelings and loss of temper on the part of the players and spoils the pleasure of spectators. U-8 Official Course Lesson 1

21 Philosophy of Refereeing In the younger players games, the referee is more of a friendly guide than policeman. Young players that commit technical errors (like taking a restart improperly) generally should be given a second chance. Young players should never be subjected to public humiliation.
